There are several drawbacks to being an idealist, one of which is the... er... idealism! ^^

My ENFP mum is extremely idealistic to the extent that she always wants things to be *perfect.*
She has an idea of how everything should be, and it never goes that way for her and it makes her sad. =(
You could say that applies to every type but I think it applies to my mum most of all.
You know they say ENFPs are one of the types "more likely to be holding up the weaker end of the relationship"? Well that happens with her. She blots out other people's faults or makes excuses for them, glossing over them, because it's like she always wants to think the best of people.
Is this typical ENFP behavior?

I would think it perfectly normal for an ENFP to think that way all the time. I do the exact same thing, being an INFP. The bad thing is that I try to do it for people I don't even know and everyone thinks I'm weird. I have preconceived notions about how the world should be, and I think that everything humans should do should be in an effort to improve the human species. We can't help it. We're just the way we are.

*guilty* I tend to see the best in people to a fault. When everyone else is saying "Jesus, he's being even more of an a*****e than usual today!" I am the one to say "He spoke to us, didn't he?" sweatdrop

That's exactly what I do xd
A lot of times my parents are saying something bad about someone, and I try to bring the best qualities out of the people, saying "yes, but they also improved blablabla, so they're not all bad", and my parents usually just roll their eyes...

I also tend to see the best about people. Someone will always have negative comments about people, and I usually comment with "He/She seems nice to me. I never had any problems with him/her". Then again, I'm a pretty easygoing person. I get along with a lot of people.

The bad thing is, I'm not exactly the best judge of character. That's my downfall. I want to believe that all people are good deep down, when some people just aren't.

Voldemort.

But he IS good. At heart. It's just the things that have happened in his life have made him that way.

I always end up sympathising with the "evil" people in books.

He used to be good at heart. But only a little bit.

I think Voldemort should have squashed Harry. I wanted him to take over the world. I had it all perfectly planned out in my mind, but no. Harry had to win. stupid Harry.

um...yes. I always thought Voldemort was the better wizard. Harry didn't ever do anything. he just relied on luck, never on talent. and he never had the drive to get what he wanted. besides, it would make for a more interesting ending than "Harry shot a curse he learned in his 1st year at Voldemort, and Voldemort perished. The end."
