What type was Adolf Hitler?
I would have gone for INTJ or something straight off but actually when you think about it maybe not. He was a great idealist, after all. Is it possible he was some type of NF?

People have actually typed him as an INFP. It certainly doesn't fit the stereotype, but he was a very unhealthy individual in terms of type, whatever the type. He's also been typed as ENFP. I think it's because he is seen as irrational. Given that this link could be interesting. It talks about how underdeveloped people actually rely on their tertiary function. So, Hitler would rely on Si if he were an INFP. That can make for a huge mess. But he doubtless had other issues that type cannot measure. Type doesn't address insanity and other related things.

Actually that doesn't surprise me. Though I think he was a very unhealthy example of an INFP. Thanks for the link! ^^

He was not considered irrational by his peers or many others during his lifetime, except those who disagreed with him. It should be said that only with hindsight to we find him irrational. This is why typing historical figures is very difficult. We do not know the man, we know of the man. What we know of him comes from his enemies.
I would say he was an extroverted idealist, he focused on the future for his people and communicated very well. Were he introverted, I would think it almost impossible for him to be so talented in public speaking.

I don't see why an introvert would necessarily be bad at public speaking. Shyness and introversion are different things.
He was painfully shy for much of his life, and always avoided large parties even as his shyness waned a little.
Introversion, shyness or both?
I think he was an introvert.

You'd be surprised, an introvert can be quite good at public speaking. I'm actually on my school's debate team, and doing rather well right now, although I had to work to become comfortable with speaking, it happened relatively quickly. And I'm an INTP. I like ideas, so that motivates me to debate. With motivation, an introvert can learn easily to speak in public.
I didn't call Hitler irrational as in crazy, I meant that he could not have been a T, unless he was completely insane, because a T would justify their actions differently. I think that a T would commit genocide to make a point, scare people, not like Hitler, more like the Mongols. His reasons were not logic based, but based on emotion.
