RP related to the marauder's exploration of the Hogwarts grounds and the adventures in the Shrieking Shack. The thing about this RP is that it is only open to canons [Remus, James, Sirius, and Peter - at one point Severus Snape, I suppose] and any participation other than those characters would be venturing into AU territory. AU RPs don't belong in this subforum, so I would appreciate it if anyone besides the names mentioned below did not post in this thread. Thanks! Remus - K crying onguetied James - pirate.with.a.guitar Sirius - Tor Petty Peter - RamshackleTagAlong

A muscle in Sirius's jaw jumped as he led James and Peter down to the Whomping Willow, ready to transform into his animagus form as soon as the came within reach of its billowing branches.
"What's up for tonight, Prongs?"

In the Shack, waiting for his friends to show up, Remus paced up and down all of the halls and rooms of the house. He still couldn't wrap his head around the fact that, if he didn't destroy the place, it could be his someday. He still remembered Dumbledore telling him the house had been built, secured, and had a secret passage created, for him. He had never had so much done just for his own well-being and happiness.
Getting shaky and knowing that "it" would be very soon, Remus pressed on with his pacing, trying to tire himself out as much as he could before the change. It never helped anything, and usually only made him more tired when he changed back, but it was worth a shot. Making his way carefully down the stairs by leaning heavily on the banister for support. It wouldn't be too long now. His knees knocked together as he stumbled into the kitchen, knowing he would have to undress soon, already feeling his face flush with the fever that always formed before moonrise.
"I hate thiiiiiiiis," he groaned to himself, collapsing into a chair for a short rest before the blokes came.

Peter huffed and puffed, struggling to keep up with the other two. "Wait up, you two!" he panted, urging his short, spindly legs to go faster.

"Just suck it up, Wormtail; it won't be long now - we're almost there," Sirius assured his friend, half-powerwalking to the Whomping Willow.

Peter groaned, panting and pushing himself to keep up. I can't wait to change, he thought. I'm so much faster as a rat...

Remus must have dropped off for a moment at the table, because the next thing he knew he was resting his head, not in the Shrieking Shack's kitchen, but his own. He sat up, straight as a pin, all too aware of the tingling in his original bite-mark that meant moonrise was coming, and coming fast. His father burst into the kitchen, panting for breath.
"Judith, Remus's isn't in the basem--Remus!? What are you doing up here!? How did you get out of the basement!? What...what are you...?" Fear danced across his father's features as he seemed to understand something Remus didn't. "Dear God, Remus, no...please..."
"Dad, what? I'm not doing anything!" Remus cried as his mother came into the kitchen, carrying a suitcase in each hand and looking grave.
"I knew this would happen, John," she said slowly. "You just didn't believe me. You thought there was hope, but he's nothing more than the monster that bit him."
"Dad, that's not true! I didn't mean to get out! Lock me up, please!" Remus shouted, but his father seemed unable to hear him as he suddenly began fighting to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. He felt a dream-like pain overwhelm him as his perspective suddenly changed so that he was watching himself transform from above. The Wolf reared its ugly head and pounced at his father.
"NO! NO PLEASE!" he and his father simultaneously screamed as the Wolf tore its fangs into his father's neck. His father screamed and fought and struggled to the point that Remus felt sick. Once his father lay dead on the floor, the Wolf turned on his mother. She didn't fight or scream or try to escape, she calmly watched the Wolf begin to devour her until she died.
Remus snapped awake in the Shrieking Shack and fell out of the chair, still screaming, but now it was a mixture of his dream and of childish discomfort of the upcoming change. It dwindled away into whimpers of pain as he curled up on the floor, hoping his friends would show up. Unless they finally realized how dangerous I am and want nothing to do with me anymore, he thought. It was his routine. He thought the samething every month. He closed his eyes and felt hot tears seep out. He didn't even have the strength for dignity anymore.

James walked along Sirius shaking his head at Peter's attitude. Normally he would have made some sarcastic comment but full moon had alway put him in a serious mood.

Sirius all out ran the last few meters with James bounding along behind him. It only took a few moments before Sirius, ever-so-smoothly, said, "Peter... the knot..."

Peter couldn't help but smile. Ah yes, the knot. The knot was Peter's favorite thing about this whole deal, because the knot made Peter feel useful. And useful was Peter's favorite way to feel.
He changed into a rat mid-stride, one moment a scrawny, twiggy-limbed boy, the next a scrawnier, twiggier-limbed rat. He rat-sprinted on his rat-feet toward the Whomping Willow; the tree attempted to squash him, but it was as he'd thought before - he was much faster as a rat. He dodged the tree's flailing branches with ease, searching for the knot that would freeze the murderous limbs.
Find the knot, find the knot, find the knot, he thought, his thoughts now even more scurrying and rat-like than they'd been before due to his transformation. Find the knot, find the knot - found the knot!
With the familiar successful elation, Peter raced over to the knot in the tree and pressed one of his tiny little paws into it with all of his strenght (small as he was, it truly did take a lot of strength) and suddenly the Willow's branches froze. If rats could smile, Peter would've then. Mission accomplished.

"Ah, Peter," Sirius murmured as soon as the tree stopped throwing its tantrum. He was almost mesmirized as the branches became still - this act never failed to awe him.
Without another moment's hesitation, Sirius turned into a shaggy black-haired mutt and bounded into the path leading to the Shrieking Shack.

Feeling particularly pleased with himself (as he always did once this task was done) Peter scurried after Sirius down the passage that lead to the interior of the Shrieking Shack, where Remus was undoubtedly waiting.

James watched as Sirius and Peter scurried down the passages. He looked up for a brief moment at the full moon. It was beautiful, he guessed. He didn't really think so anymore, seeing the pain it caused his friend. He sighed, transformed and went down the passage.

Sirius burst through the door of the Shrieking Shack, ready for another night's adventures. Although, that wasn't the first thing that came to mind when he entered the room - he was more concerned for Remus's transformation.

Peter entered a bit more timidly; he hated seeing Remus transform. The whole thing was just... gruesome. And it looked so painful... It was the part of these escapades he wished he could skip. Forcing himself to think of the fun they'd all have after the transformation, he proceeded.
