I'm sure everyone here will tell you the same thing. Marching band is an amazing experience. I don't know ANYONE who has tried it and decided they did not like it, and I hear from a lot of freshmen at the start of the season that they aren't sure they want to be in marching band. By the end of the season, they're glad they joined. You can make a lot of friends in marching band, too (I think all of my friends are in marching band, most of them from my section). It's a great experience. I highly recommend trying it at least one year before you decide to do something else.

DO IT.
Hands down, marching band is one of my best choices in high school. Not only have I made a ton of friends, had you don't even know how much fun, and gotten a lot of excersize, but my band is going to Ireland next month! I'm able to go on an amazing trip, and its great.

I say go for it. You will never know how much you like it until you try it. I know that it has become my passion. I love marching band and they have become my second family. I'm actually in college now and I marched all 4 years in high school and two years so far in the Pride of Arizona. I think that it was one of the best decisions of my life. Just make sure you stay with it the whole year. I know that during my first year, I actually started looking forward to the end of the season at one point, but once it ended, I realized how much I missed it and wanted to do it again the next year. So if you start it and feel like stopping halfway through, push yourself to the end of the season. There's just something about that last time that you just can't help but want to come back. But it's not for everyone so give it a try. If you don't like it then you don't need to do it the next year.

Do it. Band kids have more inside jokes than anyone. It is so much fun. Trust me.

JOIN NOW.

I didn't join my freshman year, and that has got to be way up there on my list of biggest mistakes. I spent the season watching many of my good friends marching, and I'm sitting on the sidelines like a loser. I went crazy-band-geek mode and joined sophomore year, and I absolutely love it! I've made a ton of fantastic friends and also gained a lot of self-confidence. Being told as a sophomore that I was the best piccolo in the school really boosted my self-esteem, and I love being the principle piccolo.

Seriously, at least give a try.

DO IT.

Seriously. Some of the best times you'll ever have will be in marching season. It's tough, it demands a lot, but in the end you'll have some great memories and lessons that apply to life. I marched all four years of high school and am auditioning for college marching band this summer.

If your high school band marches a lot, you'll also develop great leg muscles. 3nodding

Join, its not easy at times and it can be really dramatic, but it's also fun and awsome. I wasn't sure about joining either when i was in middle school, but now, i can't live without marching band.

You should do it. I am a freshmen and I had the best time ever in it. I almost didnt do it which would have been a huge mistake. I had soo much fun in it and now that marching seasons over, I miss it and really want next season to hurry up and get it. Its a lot of work but its so worth it in the end.
