Flowers surrounded his feet, their scents swarming over his nose as he tried to differentiate between the prettiest ones. Once long ago Korou had talked to Colche about what her favorite flower was, in the hopes of discerning what ones might make a good gift for her to celebrate their time together.
It was also the Month of Love, his isntincts told him so. They'd been somewhat meek around one another recently and Korou was hoping to change that with a gift and by letting her know she came first and shew as the most important thing in his life.
Of course his cubs were really important in his life and so were the ones she'd had before he'd fallen in love with her, but she was his mate. She'd helped him when he was at his worst, a broken cheetah limping across the lands with tears streaming from his eyes and blood from his paws. A ghost that haunted the Savannah.
Now thanks to her he was no longer so horribly defeated, he was in love and his stomach and hips and skin had once again filled out. He could run with the wind and dance with the stars.
Leaning his nose down and sniffling at the various types of flowers, he picked out the ones that smelled the softest, just like Colche. They would compliment her well given her gentle personality.
Using his teeth to n** off the flowers from the base of their stems, Korou turned and trotted back towards their tree den, dozens of small blue flowers gripped in his teeth like silk.

Soft blue eyes watched the savannah quietly. She had lived here in this little copse for a long time now and slowly her cubs had pulled them selves up, growing slowly in to young adults. Her first litter, her tripletts whom she had raised alone were adults now and she knew Afiya had braught a girl in to the lands though she had yet to meet her. She smiled. It felt good knowing things about her home.
Letting a soft sigh roll over her maw and allowing her lids to droop slightly she dozily watched the dark figure of her mate strollover the horizon. She laughed a tinkly little laugh capturing the scent of flowers before he was even close. Korou, he was such a wonderful mate. Kind, loving, wonderful with his cubs. She loved him more each day and nothing would ever change that. Her sweet wonderful Korou.
Standing slowly the king marked female smiled as she awaited her orange spotted mate to join her, her nose tilted forwards ready to greed him. He looked so much more wonderful these days, so full of life and lustre. She knew it was the life they lead that made him this way and she thanked the gods for returning her dark mate to her side.

Trotting the rest of the distance over the grass of the Savannah below him, Korou seemed to beam around the large group of flowers in his teeth. He knew Colche was going to love these, they were perfect for her, right down to the smell and size. He'd felt over them with slight whiskers, unsure of it in general but he'd decided that the smaller the flower the better the necklace or bracelet or tail ring it would make for her.
He'd have to get one of his daughters to tie it all up together for Colche, but maybe kito would be willing to do it, her paws seemed to be rather skilled in that sort of thing. Given how tiny she was that helped as well, the juvenile could twist anything the way she wanted it to be.
His paws came to a stop in front of Colche, his nose inches from hers. Slowly he sank down to his belly in front of her and smiled up through teeth of flowers at her, bright and happy.
Very slowly and very gently, he laid them on her paws and smiled up at her again. "For you, for everything you've done for me."

"Oh Korou" She coos leaning her head down to groom her mates head her perfect blue eyes dancing happily. He was so wonderful to her, every inch of him was beautiful and perfect.
"You know you've done the world of good for me too Korou, without you we wouldn't have our four babies and my trins wouldn't have a father. Without you I'd feel so alone int he world, my Korou." She whispers leaning down to tagke a breath of the beautiful flowers he had braught her.
"The flowers are beautiful. and you've broat so many." She coos licking his nose then giving him an eskimo kiss. "What would I do without you?" She smiled her perfect, soft blue eyes shimmering.

Slowly he rose and kissed her cheek, chirpping out his joy at her words and running his whiskers down her neck until he could nuzzle her shoulder. He loved to nuzzle her shoulders, they were what he'd first leaned against when he'd been so destroyed. She held the world on those shoulders sometimes and she never made a noise about it, unlike him. He'd cracked under the pressure.
"I'd feel alone without you too Colche, that's why I had to do something for you. Because I couldn't stand the idea of not having you, so I wanted to show you how much you mean to me."
He blushed as he spoke, leaning against her and nuzzling her fur. He was certain that she would be happy with them, especially if he could find a way to make them into something she could wear.
Leaning down to the flowers on her paws, he lifted one and slowly put it behind her ear, using his whiskers and general knowledge of her body structure after months of being mated to her to find the edge of it and slid the flower behind her ear.

Colche smiled a soft giggle rolling over her pale lips. "Oh Korou, you're such a romantic." She whispers flicking her head slightly as if to show the world the flower which now nestled behind her soft furred ear.
"You know you made my life truely complete when you came to me. I was lost for a long time, even with the trins at my side, they just didn't fill the void in my soul Korou, only you do that." She puurred licking his cheek softly."You know you're the only one for me and always will be."

A smile crossed his muzzle, the edges of his two toned eyes crinkled a bit with it as if they could still see. Colche was always complimenting him when he didn't deserve it. Sometimes he wished that he could see what she looked like still, so he could see the flower he'd put behind he ear and smile at how cute she looked with it.
But he couldn't so he didn't. Rather he just sat down and pondered her words.
She was as lost as he'd been then?
Slowly he smiled again.
"I wasn't always a romantic. I was shy once upon a time, too shy and too afraid to love at all. You fixed me and filled the hole in my heart left from the female before." Korou told her, smiling the enitre time. He had her to thank for his health.. for his cubs... for everything.

Colche chuckled lightly looking at her handsome male. She loved Korou probably more than she could truely tell him. "You know Korou, I think your story deserves to be in a tale." She let a purr roll over her lips and a smile twinkle in her eyes. She loved to tell stories and to romanbtacise korous story made her think.
She could leave out certain parts, but the story of him defeating his blindness, well that was a story worth telling and worth having others listen to. "I miss telling stories. It's been a long time since I have told anyone of the three brothers." She chuckles softly. "I think my eldest boys have the stories written on their brains."

"A tale about me? I'm sure I'm not that great that one of your stories should involve me love. My story's sort of boring anyway." Korou said, a blush running over his cheeks and nose as he thought about all the parts of his life that had been barren and empty. Of all the hardships he'd been through and all the losses he'd suffered.
At least he could rest easy knowing that never in the future would Colche leave him. She'd made it certain that he knew how much she loved him.
"Well the three of them certainly should have them written there for how good of stories that they are." The male said, he knew how good the trins were about doing their mother well off. Colche's children were good, all of them.

Colche chuckled lightly, her pale dusty blue eyes looking over her dark mate. "Korou, yous is a tale of triumph over great diversity. Anyone would love to hear it, I just know it!" She whispers licking his cheek.
"She paused for a moment then and looked out over the long grasses. "Smell that? Smells like lunch to me." She coos slowing her pace and lowering her head gently. "If I circle around and you chase them, I'm sure I can pick off a big one." She whispers looking to Korou for confirmation.

The blush settling over Korou's face was even deeper with every compliment that she gave him. He couldn't help it, it was a rarity to recieve so many compliments, though since he'd become mates with Colche he'd learned that such rarities could be enjoyed in excess given the right person and the right love.
The softness of her voice didn't distract him from the scent of what was in the distance. Both of his ears flicked towards it, the right flicking back to her as she spoke. "Of course, you're always skilled with catching the larger ones love. I'll see if I can't chase a large of one as possible in your direction." His smile was full of sunlight for once.

Colche smiled happily at her mate slipping through the long grass, her body vanishing with the shadows. her paws were silent and she knew where to sin to await the barage of beasts. she let a soft, silent puurr roll off her maw knowing that somehow instinctively Korou would know she was in place. It was strange how intuitive Korou was.
Licking her lips she readied herself to pounce on the first beast that broke her cover. They would feast well tonight.

Spotted shoulders rolled, a shadow undulating in the myriad of shadows that already existed in that current spot. The herd was closer to him than they were to Colche, but she'd already been sitting in her spot for a few sun's arches. He could still feel the heat against his dark colored fur, but he knew it had moved only a bit since she'd gotten into place.
Waiting on him.
It seemed forever as he crouched, waiting in silence for what he knew would come, what he knew would be soon. The wind brushed against the mo-hawk on the top of his head, rustling it silently and making the feather soft fur on the top of his head breeze about. Korou didn't care.
Then, as if enough time had already passed and the beasts were giving in, one of them gave a resounding bleating noise and Korou leapt right towards it. He made no noise, yet the beasts knew he was there, knew he was running through them towards the thing that had made the noise. It was the last to run, yet the fastest. That didn't matter, it wasn't him he was really going for.
As the rest of the herd thundered past him, Korou turned and curved his running to one side, picking off the slowest of them that trailed at the end. It was large, that much he could tell as he felt the nearness of it's massive body. Colche would have no trouble with it, but Korou wasn't going to risk leaping at something with horns when his eyes couldn't react to see what was coming at him. Only scent and feel could tell him and both of those would be far too late coming when horns flew at his skin.

Colche watched carefully, it had taken years of practice to scome to this point, it was unusual for cheetahs to interact with each other but she had always found a way, always loved to be together with soemone in this most base of actions. To feed ones stomach, to care for ones cubs, the importance of it loomed over her always.
Together like this though they could bring down a large beast, and protect it against the scavangers.
The beasts came a thundering. Korou knew his job well and despite his lack of eye sight the dark male could turn a herd like a pro. She waited silently, her mucles tenced, bunched up in knots as her blue eyes watched for the creature to close in. Then, as it almost fell on top of her with clammering hooves, she pounced. Her fangs sank deep in to the beasts throat, her claws wrappign aroudn the thich shoulders, she was a slight beast, but she could pull this one to the ground.
The world around ehr went silent as the creature slowly fell to it's side, her fangs buried deep in it's throat, though no blood came forth she had closed it's wind pipe and it slowly, but surely went the way of other prey beasts, it was food, it was necessary.
the antalope finally stopped kicking and she lifted her delecatly spotted head to greet her mate. "It's a good kill." She puurrs licking his face happily. This would feed the whole family. She was so proud of ehr beautiful Korou. he always came through everythign despite his handicap, on top, she loved him all the more for that.

A lanky body came to stand beside Colche, his nose flaring out a bit to smell the kill beside them. Korou knew the scent of death, and this one certainly had it. Sometiems it was overpowering to eat something he knew had been killed given that he couldn't see it, yet at the same time he berated himself for being so stupid that something so trival as a death for the survival of others would keep him from eating.
Without eating he'd die and where would that leave his perfect mate at? Once again without love and he without love in a world beyond what he was used to.
No he couldn't have that happen.
"You kill them cleanly every time. So I imagine the gratitude should fall upon those shoulders of yours." Korou said smoothly, nuzzling at her shoulder softly and sighing happily at her scent as it masked the smell of death all around him.
It was as if he could merely stand there with her scent in his nostrils and her body so close to his that he could feel it almost upon him as if he were part of her... and with that he could forget the world around him. If not for years of experience with the disastrous outcomes of forgetting one's self at times like that and the things that could go wrong that didn't always have disasterous outcomes, Korou would have done so immediately. But instead he licked one shoulder blade of his loving mate and turned to the catch they'd caught with a seriousness about him that involved finding how to get it to the den as fast as possible.
