Xibalba had resigned herself to losing Utesaji. The stupid creature would most certainly be found again, but not after she entertained herself with other things. She would not rush back to him like some love-sick little girl, nor would she stay here and wait for him to come back to her. No, the lioness would find someone else to entertain her, and then once she got bored of that she would perhaps go and find Utesaji. But only if something else did not catch her eye first. The world was full of felines, and she was sure that among them there would be some interesting ones.
But before the searching commenced she would have to finish eating. The lioness had managed to bring down an injured antelope, and was in the process of eating it. There was always a chance scavengers would come along, and thus Xibalba ate fairly quickly. She was not going to let any mangy hyenas get their hands on her kill before she was finished. A lion would be welcome to share, however any other feline would have to wait.

Black smoke thinly crawled along the savannah ground, slipping through each blade, as if it was looking for something. Suddenly it slithered backwards like a snake, gathering in one ghostly form, swaying to a breeze that wasn't there. With a sound that was something like a groan, the smoke widened as the God of Chaos stepped out of it, the smoke seeping back into his wings.
Golden, snake-slitted eyes scanned the horizon with a glare. Nothing. Well, he certainly wasn't the best tracker, as by proof that he wasn't able to find that blasted goddess again, still. Finding out that she was still alive infuriated him, as he had left her for dead. How had she survived? He felt like he had gotten close once, but all that was wasted effort, in the end.
With another groan, he decided he'd walk. The whole smoke thing was cool, and subtle, but he wasn't about to waste his energy on that. He did have four paws, and he could walk. Plus, sometimes all you needed was a distraction from disappointment.

Xibalba finished her meal with a small, contented sigh, turning and walking several paces away from the carcass. The scavengers could have it now. She knew somewhere that the spies who worked for her would soon smell the carcass and bring their friends. The lioness didn’t care about it anymore. Now that she was done with it, it hardly mattered who ate it. Food was food, and so long as she had her sustenance the lioness was pleased. Not to mention providing food for her spies kept them hanging around more. Not to mention it was much easier getting information from a full vulture than a starved one.
She smiled absently to herself as she began to clean herself up. The lioness had just reached up to rub her face with a slightly wet paw when a groan caught her attention. Black and yellow striped ears perked as she looked up, trying to find out where the sound had come from. Xibalba hadn't noticed anyone approaching while she was eating, and the noise sounded like it came from something big. She tilted her head, sitting up a little straighter. Who was out there?

The god cursed as she stretched out his wings, taking pause in his footsteps only when he felt a shift in the structure of his wings as he stretched them. The blasted things didn't seem to be of much help to him lately. What had happened? Perhaps it was because he did very little flying lately, the started to stiffen up from a lack of use. But to Dath, that just meant that they were useless. He'd get the things to work again, even if he had to break them and set them right again.
He paused, the scent of blood drawing his attention away from himself. Blood. It was always something that he seemed to come across when he was in the mortal realm, something that he loved. It didn't matter what the blood was, as long as it was there, that sickly sweet smell.
He let his head shift to his right, noticing that there was a carcass lying out, only just now attracting attention from scavengars. Was it only just abandoned? There were still some chunks of flesh on it, so surely the one who killed it was around.
Another mild thought brought him to decide if it mattered or not. All his little 'meetings' with mortals lately were boring, and he had temporarily had his fun with attacking them.
That was when his eyes noticed the lioness.

Hmmm... now this was indeed a very interesting lion. Xibalba quietly studied the god as he moved, like some researcher out in the jungles watching monkeys. He was quite large, and so very, very red. The wings on his back seemed to be bothering him, or at the very least interfering with the way he was moving. How very strange. Perhaps he was better suited for flight. The wings were the only remarkable thing about his appearance; however it was the only thing necessary for Xibalba to identify him as what he was: a god.
She had heard rumours about these gods. Lions, her spies had told her, great big lions with wings. The lioness had been told that some walked among mortals in what appeared to be a disguise, while others (like this one) walked about in broad daylight as if to flaunt their power and prestige as gods. One of her spies had even told her that they had seen a god fly with those wings. Xibalba would have thought it preposterous until she saw this male before her. The god could definitely fly, or could have flown sometime in the past.
Xibalba would have been quite content simply to watch Dath as he neared her carcass. The god, however, seemed to be a little wary. Within a few minutes, she found a pair of golden eyes staring at her. The lioness's mouth curled upwards in a smile, as she bowed her head to the god before her. "Greetings, god of fiery red," she crooned, watching him from beneath rust coloured "bangs."

He stretched out his forelegs as he noticed that the other being had finally noticed him. Well, good for them. He didn't really care either way, actually, but it was nice to get a little attention for something, even if it was only because he was a god. Wait...it should be. He was something to be admired ad feared, all at the same time.
He offered the other, the lioness, a nod. "It's Chaos, actually," he grumbled, letting a small growl escape from his mouth. He knew that she was offering some sort of respects, but still, sometimes he wanted something different.
He studied her strange patterns that adorned her face. Were they markings, or just tattoos? He couldn't tell, and the thought of tattoos only crossed his mind because he had heard stories of tattooed lions all over the lands. Perhaps theyw ere false, as he was often fed false things, but there was always a grain of truth in something, or else it wouldn't of been made up.
"Was that your kill that the scavengers are only now finding?" he asked, curious. It seemed that females lately were getting very good at their kills, as he took another look at what was left of it.

The lioness was quite pleased to be acknowledged by Dath. Though she spent most of her time behind the scenes, manipulating others, she had never had the opportunity to try and manipulate a god. That was not to say she wanted to try and manipulate the first god she saw, however she was interested in meeting one. It was always good to have connections, especially in the realm of the gods. Having a god remember you favourably was not quite the same as having a mortal warrior favour you. They were on two very distinct levels.
"Chaos?" Xibalba repeated, unable to help but widen her smile. "Very fitting, if I may say so." So he was a large red male who ruled over chaos, and probably destruction as well. What an interesting domain. The lioness did like things to be a little more ordered, however there was nothing like using her spies to create a little confusion in the ranks. Still, Xibalba's art lay more in the subtle manipulation of those who could not think very well for themselves. Clearly this god was not one of those, but that didn't mean she couldn't at least have a conversation with him. No strings attached.
"Why yes, it was. I brought it down earlier, but now that I've had my fill I've left it for the scavengers. A lioness must eat before all other creatures, felines or otherwise, I believe," Xibalba replied with a small nod in the direction of her kill.

Reserved, and very selective with her words, so they would get right down to the point. It was a different perspective of conversation that what he was used to. He wouldn't say that some females flocked to him, because most didn't. He usually did the approaching, whether they wanted it or not. The way she used her words told him one thing: she was smart.
But that still didn't mean Dath wasn't curious about some things. "You say it's fitting, but really, how? I've only laid eyes on you this once, as I'm sure you have on me. Are you merely judging by appearance?" He was always curious as to why some would act like it fitted. Sure, his pelt was a rich, red colour, his gems the colour of fresh blood, his wings as black as a raven.
He chuckled at the comment that lion should eat first. Well, wasn't that obvious? No matter, though. It gave him a judge on how she felt towards others that were not lions.

Xibalba gave a small chuckle at his question, unable to help but be impressed. She had heard rumours that there were some gods out there who were foolish, and let the power of their position go to their head. Such gods decided that it was below them to talk to mortals, or if they did speak to "lower beings" they only demanded praise and glorification. It was nice to know that this god of chaos was interested – even if only mildly- in her words and how she came to her answers. It would make for a very interesting conversation.
"Appearance and mannerisms combined, for it would not be wise to judge solely on appearance. Even though we have never laid eyes on each other before, there are certain things about you that point me in the right direction," she paused a moment, as though considering, before she elaborated, "Both your colouring and size indicate a lion of power and strength, and seeing as you are adorned with jewellery, you are also a lion of great status. However it is not simply the way you look, but the way you carry yourself and how you speak. To be the god of chaos does not mean you have to be a chaotic lion, it simply means you must have the intelligence to manipulate the situation and cause chaos. Am I right?"

He couldn't help but raise a brow at the lioness, mildly impressed by her way with words. If he hadn't already crossed a lioness that had been almost just as impressive, he would have faltered quite quickly. Still, though, she was tempting. It had been a while since he had crossed such a smart female.
"In a way," he said shortly, not wanting to reveal too much. "Being alive for as long as I have, the confidence comes naturally." Besides, how could he no be confident? He knew how awesome he was.
"You've got quite the silver tongue," he commented, not wanting to skirt around that fact any longer. "It's quite obvious you've used your words to your advantage. I can't be wrong, can I?"

'Being alone for as long as I have', the god had said. Xibalba would have been lying if she'd said that the thought of immortality hadn't crossed her mind. To be a god, and to be free of all those mortal constraints, would have been a gift indeed. Had it been something to aspire to, she would have definitely set her sights on it. However, it was impossible to become a god, as far as she knew, nor could she even acquire the next best thing, having no seer powers. It was such a pity.
She dipped her head in acknowledgment when he commented on her 'silver tongue.' "No, I suppose you cannot. Conversation without meaning is pointless, therefore it is better to learn to use words to ones advantage, is it not? It makes for more interesting dialogue."
The lioness paused for a moment, as though thinking, before she asked, "So. Aside from meetings with mortals what do you do?" Best study the behaviour of a god while she had one to talk to.

He was a little intrigued with her fancy words. Then again, though, he was never so flashy with his words. Blunt, rude, and straight to the point was normally his tune. Sometimes it was fun to skirt around the issue at hand, especially right before a kill, but hey, one had to have a little fun now and then.
Intrigued for a moment with her facial markings, he paused before replying. "I do many thing in my spare time," he said with a touch of boredom. "Some of which many don't like, as it seems like it's a little painful for them." He grinned, always relishing in the remembrance of a kill.
"Or there are a few things that a certain few like, as long as they don't require me around later," he mentioned, examining one of his claws for a moment.

"One creature's pain is another's pleasure," the lioness agreed readily, feeling the corners of her mouth quirk upwards in a small smile. Indeed, wasn't their very existence based on the death of other creatures? No lion, no matter what they said or did, could escape their nature. Oh they could pretend, or try to make themselves so skilled that their prey did not suffer long, but in the end it was all the same. It was refreshing to meet another who did not try to change who he was for the sake of others.
At the mention of doing things that some liked she tipped her head, not entirely catching his drift. What exactly would one do that would be pleasurable so long as the god did not have to stick around? It was certainly a puzzle.
"Oh?"

Hm. Perhaps he hadn't been direct enough. No matter, she seemed to have a little hint, and was obvoiusly a quick learner. Plus, well, she wasn't bad to look at either (not that he was terribly picky, as what really mattered was how they flattered him). His tail swished behind him as a wry smile grew on his face. Oh, alright. He had a better idea than skirting around the issue anyway. It was a little fun to play with someone that had more brains than the average mortal, though. And definitely the average girl. He loved his women as much as the next selfish b*****d, but they did need to be a little smart, or they weren't enjoyable. Idiots were too frustrating, and also too easy to kill once he got bored.
"If you'd risk laying trust in such an unstable creature as myself," he said, his grin growing, teeth catching touches of the sun's rays, "then I would be quite happy to show you."
"I'm sure a smart girl such as yourself would be willing to take the risk."

Xibalba was silent for a moment as she weighed the pros and the cons of the situation. Never one to jump into something without thoroughly thinking it through, she needed a small allotment of time to consider what she was about to undertake. While it was true that he could kill her, it was doubtful that he would do it now. He’d had plenty of time to harm her if he so wished it. On the positive side, he may provide her with something useful, a glimpse at something that she had yet to experience.
Surely the stakes were not so high that she could not take a few risks.
With a small smile, she tipped her head in consent. “If you are happy to show me then I am happy to be shown. Let the god show the mortal what he will, risks and all.”
