Start Date: February 12th End Date: February 20th (EST) CLOSED
Up for grabs: This beautiful Wildtype female with the alternate lineart. As an addition: Along with the female, I'll also pay for any dye job done to her, along with a limit of one companion animal. Remember to read the rules regarding companions if you do so, along with dyes to understand which is possible on the front page of the Noctua Shop Thread here. You cannot change the gender or type of Sentinel she is. Update: You can only get a common companion as the rest are limited. Sorry.
Rules: ● This is only open to people who do not already own a Sentinel ● The sentinel will be rp mandatory afterwards. I only want those to apply who will be rping their Sentinel in the guild once they have won and their rp application approved. ● Manners. No crituqing or bashing another users entry. ● No editing posts after the contest has closed. You can fix mistakes or add on more at your own leisure while the contest is open, but once it's closed, I'll be judging on what you have posted. ● No late applications. Once it changes to 12:01 EST, the contest will be closed for judging. (Thought someone who posts on the tip of the time limit will be accepted. I'm not that strict.) ● If no one applies or I find no entries suitable, I have the choice of not rewarding the sentinel. ● Only one entry per user. ● Post applications here.
Prompt:Quote: With the Graduation Ceremony underway, people can’t help but reminisce about what they wanted to be when they grew up. Even you have caught the bug. How long has it been since your graduation and how did you know you wanted to be in your current profession when you where younger? Do you regret your choice?
● TO APPLY, YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE GUILD! It's free. Just request to join. ● Once the judging ends and I announce a winner, please pm the mule with what customizations and/or companion you would like to have to get a price quote. Then send that price quote to me. ● Notice: To those who do not win, feel free to apply for a RP-Only Sentinel. You can still rp in the guild with your Sentinel despite not owning a certified one. RP-only Sentinels must follow the rules stated on page two of the shop thread.

Name: Zipzee Occupation: Teacher RP: Her eyes fluttered open, and she took to scuttling over to the edge of the hole in the tree. She peered out slowly, her yellowed eyes glimmered, as her eyebrow feathers ruffled.
So many little ones about! She had never seen such a turnout. The Graduation was sure to be large, and she was sure to be there. After all.. She had helped teach some of those Fledgelings! Oh sigh! It was much like when she had become a Graduated adult.. Ready to become part of the clan, and fit in with society.
The younger Sentinels were zipping about on wings, and that too, just the word.. Brought back memories to the younger Sentinel. She had been the zipping kind. Variety was the spice of life right?
Her wings held close to her body, as she watched wide-eyed and interested. She hopped out of her hole in the tree, and hopped to the strong branch to the side.
Zipzee looked at the younger birds, and smiled. It hadn't been seriously long since she herself had graduated.. But that didn't stop her trip down memory lane. Her wings rose to her sides, as if waving to the other birds that were flitting 'round her. So many young birds! If there had been so many at her graduation.. She may have become something other than a fine teacher.
"Oh the workings of the mind.."
She said, turning her back to the calls of the others. She scuttled, back into her little tree hole, and gave a grin.
She would dream about the childhood she had had.. After all.. She'd always dreamed of being a teacher.. Maybe she had inspired enough in the young ones.. enough to have motivated and pushed for good occupations..
After all.. Who knew she herself would have achieved such a success..
And with that, her golden eyes closed, and she sighed a little hoot in slumber. Peace was amazing..

Golden eyes stared blankly into the thick canopy high above. The remnants of a breeze striving to survive its futile attempt to navigate the dark forest blew past the young Sentinel perched in her selected tree. Autumn-leaf was half zoned out as she waxed poetic in her mind. "Once ever into the nightless sky..." she whispered in a lyrical tone. "Once ever into the nightless sky where the fledglings long to fly. Where horrors lie beyond our sight, in the depths and in the heights." A body dropped from the branch above her particular perch. Snapping out of her trance, and on the verge of losing her grip she had to beat her wings rapidly to regain balance. She turned to confront her surpriser; ready to attack if necessary. Behind her, with a bloody grin sat Mørk. The dark, hazelnut colored Martes grinned wider and chuckled in a devious tone. At his paws was the body of a Skurri, darker around its mid-section where its fur was matted with blood and saliva. "You look sad. I brought gift to cheer you." Mørk said in the silly little accent that Autumn-leaf adored so deeply. She smiled as only a Sentinel can. "Thank you Mørk. You didn't have to though." "It's not problem." he paused as if deciding whether to push for an explanation. After a very short deliberation, he simply decided to come out with it. "You want to tell Mørk?" Autumn-leaf looked at him, then at the Skurri. She ruffled up her feathers and then relaxed once again. She grinned. "I suppose you have earned at least that much." she said in a teasing manner. Mørk rolled his eyes in jest. Autumn-leaf settled back into a half-somber mood. "I guess it's that graduation is coming up soon." she said. "I look at all these fresh-faced young fledglings and remember back when I was their age. I don't know, I guess I just..." Her voice trailed off as she sank back into thought. "Just?" Mørk pushed. "...When was young I always wanted to be an apothecary." Mørk, as opposed to his typical nature made no joke. No laugh, no "hah" or squeak of mockery escaped his maw. He simply sat in quiet contemplation. This was apparently what Autumn-leaf sought from him for she continued; more quietly this time. "I learned quickly I had no skill for it. I had trouble memorizing herbs and elements. I could never get them correct. I was so disappointed in my self." "You good at what you do, Mørk knows this. You make good song and rhyme! Mørk says; ‘t must be true." Autumn-leaf let out a soft chuckle. "Arrogant are we?" The grinning Martes shrugged vainly. "Can't help. Born too perfect." Again, Autumn-leaf could not keep from laughing. Although he could be a handful at times, and despite his occasional kleptomaniac pass times and even the rare occasions in which he made her want to pull her feathers out, she could always count on Mørk to be able to lift her spirits (assuming he wasn't the one to bring them down in the first place). He picked up the Skurri and brought it over to Autumn-leaf laying it at her feet. "Perhaps tomorrow night you teach me new song you make?" Mørk asked coyly. "We'll see." She replied gently. "We'll see..."

Part I – The Sentinel Player: Bluekoinu Name: Fable Nicknames: n/a Species: Sentinel of Noctua Age: young adult Hatch Date: ??? Type: Wildtype Task: Scout Personality: Fable is easygoing and is most happy when out surveying the forests. She enjoys her space and is perfectly happy spending most of her day with just her companion. Courteous and polite she does not talk much to those she doesn’t know very well, but once the ice is broken she can be quite talkative. Fable is extremely loyal and has a strong sense of duty, no matter what the task is she will find a way to get it done. History: Fable was the second born chick in a clutch of only two eggs. She shares a close bond with her brother and supports each other in everything they do. In fact when a fledgling she was afraid to take her first flight. Her parents tried to encourage her in taking flight but absolutely refused. Her brother who had already taken wing was the one that was able to help her take the first jump. Territory: An old maple grove Mate: none Companions: yes Certificate:
Part Ib – Will (Optional) Strength: 3 Accuracy: 1 Affinity: None
Part II – Companions Name: Cosmo Species: Parus Age: Young Speech Ability: 2 Intelligence: 3 Skill: an extremely agile flyer, he is mainly a companion for Fable and loves to sing.
RP Sample: The sun was beginning to rise as Fable flew home; it had been a long night. She sent Cosmo further ahead to see if there was anything of note. It had been a pretty much uneventful hunt, not even some small game.
Sighing, she swooped and rose above the canopy. The sky had turned a brilliant orange and the sun was beginning to disappear behind the hills. Weary of the openness she took a quick glance to ensure that nothing of importance was in her area and then returned to the more sheltered trees. Singing happily, Cosmo returned to her side. Fable smiled and beat her wings a little harder; her home was within view. Roosting on her maple tree she began to preen her feathers, cleaning the dirt away carefully. As she combed one of her feathers through her beak, she thought of how it had only been a year since she had joined the scouts. Who would of thought the last to fledge of her year would become a scout? Her mother had hoped she would have been a minder but that was not for her. Too noisy she thought. Besides, you were tied down to caring for the little ones. She might have not have been the best flier to start but she knew she liked the open air. Her brother was the one who helped her achieve her goals. Fables smile faded slightly; how she missed him. Cosmo nibbled at one of her feathers to get her attention and started to hop towards their roost. Taking one last look at the brightening sky and Fable knew that she had made the right choice.

Part I – The Sentinel
Player: giftwrapped Name: Brightling Nicknames: Brye, Species: Sentinel of Noctua Age: Young adult Hatch Date: ...? Type: Wildtype Task: Bard Personality: Bright and clever, often absentminded, with a vivid, childlike imagination. Extremely fond of playing games with the fledglings and entertaining them. Adores being the center of attention...and juggling. The eternal optimist, she’s the laugh-instead-of-cry type and often makes light of situations that may seem inappropriate to laugh at for the more serious sorts. Very few inhibitions, likes to speak in rhythm and calls others by flowery (and sometimes silly) nicknames.
Part II – Companions
Name: Flickerwing Species: Parus Age:Young adult Speech Ability: 1 Intelligence: 4 Skill: Singing very prettily on command, often in harmony with Brightling
Prompt Response: With the Graduation Ceremony underway, people can’t help but reminisce about what they wanted to be when they grew up. Even you have caught the bug. How long has it been since your graduation and how did you know you wanted to be in your current profession when you where younger? Do you regret your choice? “Too-whit, too-wheet, too-whoo. Brightling, Brightling, too-whoo.”
The Sentinel clicked her beak in response to the bright-eyed Parus’ singsong words and fluffed her feathers, concentrating thoughtfully on etching fine lines in the branch on which she was perched. All she could hear from the rest of the forest, it seemed, were words of the Graduation Ceremony. It was certainly important, she knew, but she didn’t like the thought. The idea of the Ceremony made her oddly sad, like she was losing friends. And in some ways, she was. She had enjoyed the bright, squirrellike enthusiasm of the fledglings, enjoyed them because they reminded her so much of her, how she had been (and was still, she supposed).
“Too-whit, too-wheet,” Flickerwing repeated, flashing her bright tailfeathers and strutting up and down the branch in front of her mistress. Brightling clicked her beak again, then laughed reluctantly.
“Too-whoo, too-whoo, Flickerwing, Flickerwing,” she answered. “Too-whit, too-wheet, too-whoo, too-whoo. To sing a song of fledglings, fledglings,” she added, laughing when the little bird fluffed her feathers and sat down in imitation of a brooding Sentinel. “Let me tell you a story,” she said, fluffing and smoothing her feathers and spreading her wings for emphasis.
“Once up on a time not too long ago but before your hatching, little Parus, there was a fledgling Sentinel, all gaping mouth and ogling eyes and flailing wings. All day she dashed to and fro, to and fro, never getting where she was going, always late to her lessons. And she always took a story with her about her tardiness. She told the most fantastic stories, unbelievable tales, and she was punished for lateness.
“The little fledgling liked to sing songs and act silly, and she liked to make the other fledglings watch her and laugh. She did this so much that her teachers became frustrated with her. The little fledgling was always in trouble, little Parus. But she never seemed to mind. She made the grown-up Sentinels laugh and it was hard for them to stay angry at her. And so the little fledgling avoided the worst of her punishments.
“But seasons change and living things grow, and this little fledgling grew up into a getting-bigger Sentinel with responsibilities. And it came near time for her Graduation. And the little fledgling wondered, ‘What will I be? What will I be? Alack the day that I was hatched, for as certain as the sun rises and sets, I cannot be anything at all!’
“The little fledgling was too absentminded to be a Scout and too silly to be a Hunter. She was afraid of Gathering in the dirt, she was no good at Crafting or Medicine, and she certainly didn’t have the Will to be a Mystic.
“But the little Fledgling was wrong. That evening she met a Sentinel who did everything she did, who did it for his task. He sang and performed and told riddles and jokes to all the little fledglings, and the little Sentinel realized that perhaps she could be herself and do something she loved. So she approached the Sentinel after his show.
“‘I beg your pardon, Sir,’ she said, ‘but what is it that you are called?’
“‘I am called a Sentinel,’ he answered. And when he saw that the little fledgling grew dismayed, he laughed and added, ‘As to what I do, I am a Bard!’
“And the little Sentinel was no longer so worried, because she had something to be. Too-whit, too-wheet, and I am done. Too-whoo, good evening, little one.”
With a near-silent clap of her wings, Brightling turned her face away from the Parus, who trilled approval and flapped her applause.
It was a good history.
