In stark contrast to the unstable lioness, the jungle never truly changed. The cycle of life and death spun on here, but the novelty was never really there. After all, hadn't it seen death a hundred times over? Seen birth reenacted over centuries? So even what was new wasn't really new. It was a comfort to Shaitani, really. Things that didn't change offered a sort of stability in her life, a steady place she could come back to after her mind took flight.
Such as it was right now. Red eyes were wide and staring, claws cutting into the leaf litter as she paced a zig zagging path between the trees, wandering seemingly at random near the edge of her home. The sun was due up in an hour or two, but it didn't bother her. She feared the sun, yes, but hadn't she once lived under it? Danced and sang under it? The thought made her face scrunch up, but try as she might, it was gone and she could never retrieve the memory it hinted at.

Sawa cringed as he slipped through the shadows, already miserable from his saw paws and little cuts and scrapes about his body. He had no clue how to move through the jungle and his bulk did not help, why did things have to be this way?
He'd left the three... freaks in his homelands. He had no where else to put them and he did not have the heart to kill the outright. That and he feared them; he didn't think it'd been possible for that wicked cheetah female to give birth to his cubs. They were different species, it should not have been possible! Perhaps, as always, the gods were playing a cruel joke on him.
But no longer, the joke was on all of them because he did not have to take care of the freaks of nature. He could and did dump them onto someone else; let them be their problem.
His tail lashed behind him and he growled lightly, not at all pleased. His life had went from worst to devistating. He should just throw himself off a cliff.

The sound of something large in the undergrowth drew the attention of the lioness and the change it worked on her was remarkable. As her ears perked, her body stilled, coming to a stop with her fine head raised. Red eyes, once unfocused and listless, sharpened, taking on a predator's intelligence. She seemed a totally different creature...
The reason behind it was obvious. The sound hinted at something large, and obviously not as used to moving in the tangle jungle as she was. This something large could be prey stumbled in from the savannah, stupid and obvious. Or... it would be not-prey and just as stupid, but more dangerous. Either way... Shaitani's life was about to change for a few brief moments when she would either fill her belly, or need to beat a hasty retreat.
Pacing forward, white paws nearly soundless on the leaf-litter, Shai moved closer to the noise, her head slung low as the necklace of skulls she wore clacked softly with her movements. A low croon rolled from her throat, a sound she appeared to be unaware of making. It was like the call of a mother to her young, but it was impossible to say why the crazed lioness would make such a sound.
