Dinaledi stopped for a moment, and looked over at the young king. The more he thought about it, the more he realized that they had in common. They had both lost both of their parents in the war, and now worked to keep the pride alive. It really wasn't dwindling, but it was urgent that they locate the herb soon, or else they would be without a way to organize new members into their social system. New members were what the pride needed, and without a way to figure out what class system they belonged to, it would be difficult to start rebuilding. Dinaledi yawned and hoped they would find what they were looking for soon.

"Unyezi, are we getting any closer to finding it?" Dinaledi wasn't exactly sure what it was. He had never seen the herb, or had it used on him before, but he knew that it was important. The anxiety was in the air, and Dinaledi just wanted to find this herb and find a new home. It was difficult to go to sleep somewhere different every night.

It was not a particularly bad day, though Unyezi was far from calling it a cheerful day. They were continuing their search, as usual, and it was starting to get monotonous and frustrating. But as the scenery around them changed they had more hope they were close to finding what they were looking for. Having decided to go out and look around with Dinaledi, he at least was enjoying a change of company. That was at least one good thing, he got to vary who he searched with during the day time.

Unyezi had to suppress a sigh, knowing he had to be optimistic for everyone else. He considered Dinaledi a friend, but the idea of letting everyone in his group get down on this hunt was not something he wanted to do. Right now, Aure was the only lion he could express how he really felt with.

"We must be," he replied in a failing optimistic tone, "We know where it's not, so we'll just keep looking."

Dinaledi sighed in frustration at Unyezi's answer. It was just hindering, both mentally and physically from all that they had gone through. Dinaledi had managed to stay optimistic for the most part, but recently he was growing irritated with the fact that they could only find dead ends. "It's just, I want a home. I don't want to go back home. I don't think I could after witnessing what happened, but I want I want to fall alseep in the same place every night. " Dinaledi paused for a moment and looked up into the afternoon sky. "I know Home is wherever the pride is, but all this scattering isn't healthy."

Dinaledi stopped his rambling, and focused his gaze towards the ground, as if all of his frustration would make the herb appear. He didn't mean to be upset, but he just wanted something more permanent, so the pride could begin rebuilding.

It seemed to Unyezi immediately that he was not the only one who would not be able to stand life as a rogue. He felt bad for Dinaledi, they'd both lost their parents rather recently but Dinaledi.. he was much younger. The loss of his mother had also been a sore moment for the King, as she had been the royal nanny when he and his sister were little. Going back to their old lands was not an option, even if they didn't need the herb. His affection for his friend and his duty as King made his optimistic explanations stay. It wouldn't do to show his own worries now, someone had to be strong and optimistic, and that someone had to be the king. At least one of those someones had to be the king, anyway.

"We'll find our home soon, Dinaledi," he said in as reassuring voice as he could manage, "Just think, it could be just past that mountain in the distance. Or, for how far away we are, it could be nearer."

Unyezi sighed dreamily, looking out at the distance. The horizon was lined with the herb until they got there and couldn't find it. But they would eventually, they had to. The Great Lion would help them find it, or something suitable to replace the herb with.

"I don't know what it is, but I can feel it. There's just a gut feeling I have that's telling me that we're on the verge of finding our home. Now, I'm no oracle, but I don't know... It's almost like when you can sense when the rain is about to start." Dinaledi's mood was suddenly lifted, and looked up towards the king. It was so different to think of Yezi as the king. Dinaledi always thought of Yezi as an older brother of sorts, and now it was awkward to realize with the new home their would be new responsibilities. Dinaledi was more than ready to accept his apprenticeship. He just hoped that others would be excited for a new start like he was.

That's the spirit! Optimism was better than nothing, he wanted to think that just over the next hill would be a huge patch of the plant, would be a world perfect for them to take over. He smiled at Dinaledi, nodding.

"We'll find it," he said confidently, "I'm sure the Great Lion would not let us wander forever. Our numbers are smaller now, but there are enough of us.. we're all dedicated to the same purpose, we'll find it."

As long as it was not Njiru, he would be happy.

Dinaledi laughed a bit at what Yezi said, "Well, I know for a fact that the Great Lion would not have us wander forever if he's shown us high class member such honor when we were born." That little bit was probably Dinaledi's father talking. As a cub, Dinaledi was informed by his father about how lucky he was to be shown such favor by the Great Lion. Dinaledi's father was shown no favor by being born during the new moon, so he remained bitter, even after being able to marry into high class.

"So, how has the search been going with others? How do they feel? I know I've only just joined the group due to taking a bit of time to just trying to pull things together with myself, but has the mood been pretty quiet lately?"

It was good to hear Dinaledi's change of mind and sudden optimism. They needed more of that going around, it wasn't so easy to stay so optimistic for so long. The longer they looked, the closer they had to get to their goal, though. That was the only way to look at it.

"Everyone feels pretty much the same," he shrugged, "We're all very anxious to settle down again. We're just lucky we can always see the moon."

Dinaledi sighed, not very surprised by the news. He had been so used to the group he knew before the war. It was going to take some serious getting used to the now condensed group that is the pride. It would require him to talk to people outside of his class, and that was something he wasn't used to. He would have probably had to do that as he grew older and gained a job in the pride anyways.

He hastened his pace and began walking back towards the general meeting area for the group. "Well, I think we should head back and see if anyone else has gotten anymore leads. Even if they haven't found anything else out, we could still tell them where NOT to go."

The pride was small but they had everything they needed for now. The fact that Shira lacked an apprentice was unsettling to the king, but he would find her something suitable when they settled in. He was only glad to have her around in his own group, and was sure everyone knew how important it was that nothing happen to her.

He slowed down a bit as suddenly Dinaledi made a decision and picked up the pace back towards their designated meeting place for the night, "You go ahead, I'm going to keep looking for now."

Dinaledi paused for a moment and looked back at Yezi. "I have a question. What do you think about me and Le-" He cut himself short, because he became easily flustered, and he figured that his change in feelings towards Lela were just little bits of a crush. He just really hadn't noticed really just how beautiful she was until recently. Plus, Yezi would probably never approve of such actions since Dinaledi was a younger, and less stable lion. Suddenly embarrassed, Dinaledi picked up his speed and hurried back to the main grounds hoping that none of this would ever get back to Lela. She just seemed so distant at times, and it was hard to figure out what she was thinking since she held her feelings closely to keep a good royal image.

Unyezi was about to keep moving when he heard Dinaledi stop and speak up. The king turned around curiously, nodding to show he was listening and waiting to hear the question. Having no idea what to expect, he wasn't sure what the younger lion was getting at when he cut himself off. Wasn't entirely sure anyway. He was about to ask Dinaledi to speak up when suddenly all he say was his back.

How very odd.

Ah well. Unyezi turned back around to keep on his own little search, but now he had something else to wonder about. It was almost nice, made things feel more normal not to have the mind focused on just the one task.

Fin.
