...of food.
Post up your crazy, artsy food photos.

...I'll have some soon. sweatdrop
EDIT: Since there really aren't many people coming to the forum anymore, I figure maybe just keeping everything in one thread for now would be more convenient.

I'm going to continue posting up pictures, recipes, and just random food related updates. It's all in hopes of a small revival of this guild. I love it and refuse to let it die. crying

EDIT TWO: I spelled "multiple" as "mulitpal". I was obviously tired. xp

Today I'm making a cranberry-orange cake with my mum.

gonk
We ended up baking bread. Very uninteresting bread. Not worth photos/it was massacred before I could get pictures.

Destroyer of Cherries
My d. camera sucks.

I don't even have a camera x.x
Well, my mum does, but it's too much work to ask where the computer hook-up cords are. I always end up going on a mad hunt for them. She never remembers where they are.

Picture time!
I spent 8 hours baking and decorating a cake today (mainly decorating).
The cake is just a blah chocolate box mix, but, I made everything else.
I even made my own marshmallow fondant! HUGE SUCCESS! I'm in love with it now ._.
Anywho, I had just finished the cake and was letting the final pieces dry. I was so happy just to be done. I ran upstairs and grabbed my mum's camera.
I walked up to the cake, turned the camera on and....it didn't turn on! gonk
I was just about to cry. I then spent another thirty minutes or so looking for the camera charger with no success. Finally, my mum came in to look for it. It turns out I was looking for a cord when I should have been looking for a little battery charger box. I didn't know >.<
So, the battery is charging right now. As soon as it's alive enough to take a few pictures, I'll go have a giant..."giant", photo shoot in the kitchen. I should have pictures up in about 30 minutes.

Finally! Photo-
User Image
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I wish I had some more of the proper tools. I had to make my own dowels with bamboo skewers I sawed with my paring knife >.<
But, they're doing the job!
I didn't have any cookie cutters either (Who doesn't have ANY cookie cutters?) so I had to make the circles myself. People kept bumping me @.@
As soon as I started making the fondant and getting ready to decorate, everybody decided it was time to just hang out in the kitchen and make a lot of noise.
Oh well. At least it's better than a plain cake.

The tragedies of not having cake on a cardboard circle...
I really must use one next time. It was incredibly hard to get the cake off of the wire rack and onto a plate. Luckily, there was very minimal damage.
Cake...
...is very heavy.

My sister is coming over for the weekend. We've planned a whole day of baking. We're making petite fours. We've also planned to make some tea sandwiches. Yes, we're having a tea party. I'll be sure to get some pictures, and, if everything turns out very nicely, some recipes as well.
I'm planning on making a vegetarian chicken curry tea sandwich.

Alright! I just got back from the grocery store. I have everything I need to make petite fours. And it was super expensive. gonk
I wanted to make just two kinds of cakes, but my sister insisted on four different kinds. I don't think she understands how much cake that's going to be. sweatdrop
Anyways, we're making four kinds now. BUT! She also wants to make little sandwiches to go along with them. I'd really love to, but that's going to be waaaay too much food and work for one day.
How does this have anything to do with the Culinary Guild?
Well, I was planning on posting up recipes for the sandwiches and cakes if they turned out well. I'm going to try and talk my sister out of making the sandwiches, so don't be expecting recipes for them. At least not this week. I'll get around to making them one day.

On The Menu:

Coconut and Dark Chocolate Petite Four - Dark chocolate cake with coconut flakes baked in. A creamy chocolate and coconut filling, chocolate butter cream frosting, marshmallow fondant drizzled in chocolate and coconut flakes.

White Cherries Petite Four - Feather light angel food cake marbled with delicious cherry flavour. Sweet cherry butter cream frosting and a cherry in the middle. Covered in pink marshmallow fondant.

Raspberry Brownie Petite Four - Brownie cake with raspberry jam and butter cream frosting. Covered in marshmallow fondant.

Angelic Lemon Petite Four - Angel food cake with the taste of tart lemon baked in. A sweet butter cream frosting with a hint of lemon zest. Covered in a light yellow marshmallow fondant.

Now, this is what I have so far. As far as decorating goes, I've only come up with decorations for the coconut cake. The rest I'm leaving up to my sister. She went out and bought a TON of cake stuff, so, I'll let her go crazy with all of that.

I'll let you all know how they turn out. Hopefully good.

Alright! So in addition to the four cakes, we're also making three different tea sandwiches.
One of them has locks (sp?), another is just your basic cucumber sandwich, and the last one is a type of olive and cream cheese blend one.
If they turn out nicely, I'll post up the recipes.
Now, off to the cakes!

Gracias senorita. I think I'm falling for your cake. Did you post your fondant recipe? I wanna do it now. And we have a new digital camera. Maybe I'll start getting photos up as well.
