Orange eyes watched the water lapping at the ground. It was so tempting... He'd not been swimming since the water had started to dry up back in the dying jungle, and here... There was so much water!
A swamp bird trilled out its song as somewhere a soggy and rotting log simply gave way. As the water lapped his paws, Zimwi moved. A splash signaled his plunge in, enjoying the cooling feel of the liquid around his pale and snowy pelt.

Narindima'moyo was out looking for frogs to bring back to their new visitor, Nyamaza, when he heard a splash that was much too big for one of the funny-legged amphibians, and too big for one of the swamp's youth as well. That meant someone more his size was splashing around. Curious as to who it was - his brother, perhaps? - he followed the sound.
Trudging over the remains of the log that had just given out, the brown lion finally caught sight of the swimmer - that white and gray lion who'd been here since before he'd come back. Zimwi, right? Nari wondered when his mother would give him a new name.

Tail trailing behind him in the water, the lion didn't notice the presence of another. All that occupied his mind was the water, and how wonderful it felt. Months of dirt washed away, making his coat pristine and pale again from the dusty brown it had slowly turned.
As he climbed out, he noticed another lion. For a moment, fear gripped at him, but the lack of a move to attack had him less wary. Blinking a bit, he watched the other before stepping slowly closer. "H-hi... Um..." He was at a loss for words, as while he wasn't so afraid anymore, he was still very shy.

"Oh, hello! You're Zimwi, right?" Though not exactly oblivious to the other lion's shyness, he didn't really pay it any mind, either. "I don't believe we've ever met properly. I'm Nari!"

The other lion knew his name? After a moment, he seemed to remember just how small the pride really was. "Yeah... I don't think I've even met you at all..." As he stepped closer, he realised a very large thing - Just how small he was to what he thought might be an average-sized male lion. He had to crane his neck, lest he wished to be eye-level with Nari's mane. "So...." He tried to think of something, then flicked an ear as a frog jumped in the water. "Do you swim at all?"

"I'm one of Asali's sons," he explained, though it felt horribly strange to call his mother by her name and not just 'Mother.' "Of course I swim." Nari chuckled - who didn't swim? "I have for as long as I can remember. Haven't you?"

If he hadn't been at ease before, the news that Nari was one of Asali's sons certainly helped the diminutive white lion more relaxed. His ears lifted as his paw sank slightly into some soft mud. "Of course I've always swum!" Except when they left the dying jungle... "When I could, anyway. I used to live in a jungle that was dying, so... I had to stop. But here..." He looked at the water, orange eyes dancing.
Quite suddenly, he went bounding around Nari. "Last one in's a six-eyed frog!" And with that, he went flying off the previously standing log into the water, sinking for a moment before he surfaced laughing.

"Dying?" Though Nari's paws had carried him many places, he'd never seen anything more than the edge of a jungle, but even that had been impressive. So green, so busy! It was an even livelier sort of terrain than the swamp, and he'd wondered to himself what kind of spirits lived there. How did something like that just...die?
He didn't have a chance to voice any other questions, though, before Zimwi went leaping into the water. "Hey!" The larger lion laughed and jumped in after him, trying to land as close as he could in order to splash him spectacularly.

Failing at fending off the splash, Zimwi could only laugh more. Rolling onto his back, he floated a moment, mane spreading around his head in almost living-stone tendrils. But the look of calm was shattered when he kicked his hind legs, effectively splashing water.
A frog let out a bark, leaping away from a log as the white lion pulled himself up. Water ran from his mane and coat in tiny waterfalls, bits of plant matter sticking here and there. He looked back at Nari, orange eyes almost hidden by his mane. But the delight wasn't hidden, and the diminutive male was soon shaking excess water away.

Uh-oh! The splash caught Nari off-guard, and he snorted and spluttered for a moment, coughing up the water he'd swallowed while caught laughing. Eventually, he hauled himself out of the water and shook off what he could. Chuckling, he rasped good-humoredly, "You play dirty."

Brushing his hair from his face, Zimwi could only grin. "I was only splashing you back! You splashed first!" He then sat down, still smiling. "I like it here." A pause. "No... I don't like it... I love it!" Laying down and rolling into his back, he looked at Nari upside down. "I don't think I'll ever leave!"

"You're just lucky I was alone," he teased, flopping unceremoniously onto his side. "My family and I could bury you!" Nari laughed. He hadn't even met all of his family.
"It's the best, isn't it?" He sighed happily. "I really missed it while I was away."

The little white lion nodded, a smile on his face. "I love it here, there's so much water!" His tail flicked and curled, the hair at the end soggy from the swimming. "I could spend hours in their!" He stretched out, toes splaying. "I could never do that back in the dying jungle... The water was almost gone, and the trees were all dry and dying..." His wears flicked as he thought about it. "I wonder if it finally rained, or if it caught fire or something..."

"I don't think I could ever live somewhere like that." Nari frowned just thinking about it. "It was weird enough being out in the savannah!" He was a swamp lion, and used to having water practically all aroud him. The concept of a 'waterhole' was even a bit strange.
"I hope it rained, though. A fire would be awful." Just think of all the creatures that would die! He shuddered.

The pale lion shivered slightly. "The savanna scares me..." He looked in the general direction of it, tail curling. "Too much open space, and nowhere to hide..."
Glancing skyward, he tilted his head. "Maybe it did rain... But I may never know, I don't really intend to go back." A smile danced on his face. "It's much better here, and the lions are far more open and less intimidating!"
