Hey, nice find, bud! The artwork seems to be a step up for Mr. Su, which is great (perhaps he just hasn't had the right inkers in the past?), and I'm definitely digging that cover by James Raiz (he's one of my favoratives!). The story ounds interesting; almost precisely the same as the narrative structure of an RP I have been involved in for the past six or so months! Facinating. Yep, I'm really looking forward to this one.

Say, why didn't Dreamworks just headhunt Mr. Furman to write their bloody screenplay...?!

I'm all for a good story, but I'd really like to see other accomplished writers take a crack at Transformers too, otherwise they'll be moulded in the form of Furman's TF's which really limits them.

NOt only that but Furman has a very unhealthy obsession with Grimlock. Dont' get me wrong, love the Grimlock character. I would however like someone else to take the spotlight for just a little while. wink

The preview does rock. Tis a shame I'm not going to be getting the comics. I've adopted the 'anthology' snobbery unfortunately. So the onyl way I'm getting them is as TPBs that sit nicely on a shelf with the other TPBs I have.

Well, if this ends up as a TPB anyway. I thought I read that in an interview not too long back but I'm very tired right now.

I do the same, usually. Only exceptions is with unfinished stories and series (I.E. Dreamwave's ongoing G1 series, Energon, War Within)

I would get it... but did you guys see the Soundwave in the background, it looks like it's in the 80's again. Don't get me wrong I do like the look but it's too flat and box like for the year 2005.

I think the artists draw humans better than the bots and for Transformers the comic the focus should be the bots not the people and they are so blocky... sweatdrop

I'm sorry, but I'm not quite sure what you're on about there, mate - Soundwave is a box, no matter how you look at him. I agree with you that the mechanoids should take center stage in a Transformers comic, but sometimes it's interesting to see the story from a distinctly human viewpoint. It is our planet, after all. And I'd also have to agree with the earlier contention about Mr. Furman; while he is by far one of the most accomplished Transformers writers out there, there are still plenty of others who have a great deal to offer the franchise. It would be nice to hear from some of these other writers. And I must confess to becoming a little sick of hearing from Grimlock all the time - there are many other characters who I believe are much more interesting...

There probably won't be a Grimlock for awhile: they're going for a more realistic "Ultimate" kinda feel (Like the Marvel Ultimate universe) so most alt-modes will be modernized, a bit more realisitic and modified as followed. In fact, Megatron won't be a gun anymore, nor will he actually appear in the comics for awhile: they're gonna do a sorta of "Coming of Galactus" sorta thing with him. What Furman wants to stress this time around is the human factor, since he felt it was something important that had been left out for so long: these are GIANT FRICKIN' ROBOTS RUNNING AROUND ON EARTH! So he wants to stress that this time around.

Also, if you want someone other than furman, there's two other TF series coming out along with it. The 1st series is written and drawn by different people every month and is basically based on that writer's original interpretation of Transformer characters. Another one will be a "best of" series, showcasing classic stories from the Marvel U.S., Marvel U.K., and Dreamwave comic lines.

"Me Grimlock more interesting the all else. Prime big wheeny, me should lead."

I love Grimlock and I much perfer his "bad speach and big brain" to his "Me so dumb 1+1=34" personality. Although so long as they don't dumb his down I really don't mind if he's just a secondary charater instead of a main one.

It funny his first file card said he had a 7 inteligence but all the writers before treated him as a three. I really perfer him to use his head.

It sounds to me that these new comics are being taylored to fit in with the impending movie's take on the franchise. Fair enough. And that secondary publication, with individual takes on the Transformers mythos sounds particularly interesting. Cool, I'll have to keep an eye out for that one! biggrin

For this particular series, which will be dealing more with the human perspective, it's actually more a appropriate for a person who draws people better since there'll be a lot more scenes with people than robots.

Ah! It's war of the worlds all over again! xd

What more do you know about a TF anthology book? We've been crying for one since DW came back with TFs. How deeply in the works is it? Is it a sure thing to come out? Any names signed on yet? If you can't tell, I'm really interested in this proposed series...

Probably not until sometime after their first series is about done, it sounded like IDW wanted to jumpstart the TF comics again afterwards.

Well this preview is an improvement over the artwork from before, I may change my mind on this new G1 series after all.

..and I as well. Well, I never really had anything bad for the original, in fact I liked it, just never read the comic, but this seems like I should start reading it, whenever it comes out.... cool

I am really looking forward to this. I suppose I should call my comic shop and make sure they have me subscribed to this. I assume they transferred all the old DW subscribers to IDW (odd that IDW is DW with an I in front of it - hope it lasts longer), but I don't know for sure.
