Today, I am a happy bassist.

I finally upgraded from my Squier P (Which wasn't too bad mind you) to this beautiful, absolutely bad a** Music Man Bongo. Names aside, this bass is a beauty I will be using for YEARS. Not one but TWO of those massive Music Man Humbuckers we all know and love, Four band active EQ (Treble, Mid High, Mid Low, Bass), blend knob, smooth and quiet volume, perfect action suited to my playing, the smoothest neck I've ever played on (Which isn't many mind you), a gorgeous metallic dark blue finish on the body, back of the neck, and head stock, a beautiful teal pearloid pick gaurd, tapered tuners that hold fast, twenty four frets, A strong easily adjusted bridge, easy-access truss rod, maple neck, everything about it is just perfect for me. My only regret is not being able to get a new amp with it.

When I first plugged this in, I was blown away. Not in the metaphorical sense, I was literally blown away, this thing has POWER. I struck that low E and felt like I was punched in the chest. Playing with the EQ a bit, I found I could get tones for ANYTHING, from metal to jazz, from slap to a very bright picking tone or a growling finger style. The growl man, this bass has a serious bite. I turned the knob back to the rear pick up and cranked the treble and mid high, I felt my hair standing on end, I swear I could scare a bear off by playing this. Hyperboles aside, this thing is brilliant.

Musicman knows their stuff, and I got it just in time. I have a small gig, if you can even call it that, coming up, me and a few friends are going to play a few cover songs and just jam for a bit. My Squier P broke at the perfect time, kind of. Meh, all I know is this thing would have been gone within an hour if I hadn't gotten it today. My local Guitar Center was clearing these out, and I got it for a steal at 750$. Seeing as the normal selling price is around 1505$ and the list price was 1900$, I was in luck. This will last me for a good while, years if I can keep up with it.

Any way, to celebrate, I am looking for songs to play! Not just for myself though, I'd like to have a few more to choose from then the mediocre number we have so far. My friends and I are looking for suggestions, is there anything anyone can recommend that a group of five, a mediocre bassist (me), two fairly decent guitarists, a new vocalist, and a new drummer can pick up and learn within a few hours. It'd be largely appreciated if you guys could help me out ^^

Have a nice day, I know I am ^^

I'd love to have one, when I first saw them I didn't quite dig it, kinda thought it looked like a toilet seat/goldfish, but I learned to like it a lot, I'd take one over a Stingray at this point. Grats on the score.

Tottally don't like the body, but the sound is nice. I would personally recomend learning a few songs for each genre you are interested in playing, and then building new stuff off of that.

I totally know the feeling. I was just about as elated when i got my Ric.
I'd recommend learning some more slap/funk, MusicMan has a pretty good thing going with that. next, try picking up a good amp (at least 350w) and a 4X10 cab. then you'll be solid for awhile.
