A mocha brown leopard snored a little, his nap extending itself to several hours longer than he'd originally planned. No surprise there. Though, being a leopard, he was supposed to be very agile and swift on his paws while he's amongst the trees, when he was sleeping he was just another lump lying on a branch. He turned once, the branch creaked; he turned a second time, the branch moaned. Then he turned a third time, and...
THUD.
Chui grunted, his back aching as he'd landed oddly on the branch beneath him. Had he been any higher up in the tree the fall probably would've paralyzed him, or perhaps even killed him. But, as usual, he was lucky. So with a sigh, a groan, and several curses later he walked away, eyes drooping and lazy. It only took a few minutes for him to be a bit more than half awake, his senses still dull and very....well, asleep. The young leopard made his way toward the only source of water he knew in the jungle.
There was a gentle breeze, rustling the leaves high above him, and it was in these moments that he truly appreciated the shelter that he'd decidedly made his home. Though, like the world beyond the borders of the jungle, there were many dangers within the collection of greenery, he figured it was much better to live in shade than be in constant movement outside in the hot savanna sun. In other words, he'd rather laze about in a tree all day then move around and get some good exercise on a daily basis.
Not that he was overweight, mind you, but he wasn't exactly the fastest feline in the jungle. He was average, like most he figured. He soon found himself at the small lake nearby his favorite tree, and he lowered his head and began to lap slowly at the water's surface, taking his fill.

The female leapordess was relaxing on a branch over the water. She didn't have much to do with her day, she was happy just laying, listening to the breeze and smiling at the random events of the day. She was glad she had Hera, whereever the fun red leopardess was. She would be nearby somewhere.
She stretched out on the branch till she heard some noise beneath her. She looked down and smiled, a nice brown male was drinking at the water. She just laid there and watched him. She wasn't about to say anything, after all she was still rather shy. She always had been. It was better to watch then to say anything at all.

It was a moment or so after he finished drinking that he felt a pair of eyes just...watching him. Chui felt a shiver run down his spine, not necessarily indicating that he was in any way afraid, but more...creeped out. He cautiously turned, pink eyes darting up, down, right, and left until they landed on a white leopardess lazing about on a branch of a nearby tree. The feeling had gone, and the male smiled up at her.
"Hey," he called, "You know it's not really polite to stare." And he made the statement in more of a joking matter, the smile on his maw widening.

She smiled back at him, looking him up and down. He could work for Hera, maybe.
"You are right, it's not. I apologise."
As she looked him up and down a few times she decided that he was definatly a looker, so it would be quite possible that Hera would like him but Alana adored his smile. Oh well she wasn't looking for a mate for herself and the chances of one appearing to her seemed somewhat unlikely.
She jumped down from the tree and let the smile on her maw widen a little.
"I am Alana." her voice was soft, as it nearly always was and she sounded so calm and relaxed.

The male's ears perked a bit more when she spoke, his smile remaining as she made her way down the tree with one swift movement. It was rare to run into other leopards within the jungle, oddly enough. And even more rare for him to run into a female.
He nodded a little, a sort of greeting before she introduced herself. Chui took a seat, tail swishing laxly behind him. "Alana, is it?" he asked, testing out the name on tongue. It was nice and simple, much like his own name. He wouldn't forget it, at least. "It's nice to meet you, Alana. My name is Chui."
He looked at Alana for a short while, sort of examining her. She was a pretty leopardess, that was certain, and she somewhat reminded him of another leopardess that he was rather fond of. He caught himself, though, in mid-stare, and cleared his throat in embarrassment. "S..sorry. You just remind me of someone....err, sort of."
And so the uneasiness, the one he hoped wouldn't get to him this time around, began to set in.

Alana smiled,
"It's a pleasure to meet you Chui." She lowered her head in appreciation, her own weird way of doing things. However then she noticed him staring at her somewhat and it confused her. No one stared at her! Then he explained himself and she became somewhat curious.
"Oh? May I ask who?" She was a curious thing, as was in her nature. If he wished not to talk about it then she would accept it because she was just like that. She hated to see anyone uncomfortable in any way and would just happily talk about the most random things if it would make someone else happy.

Chui tilted his head and thought for a minute, trying to recall the name of his friend...or one he considered a friend. Their conversation had gone rather smoothly, considering the way she had initially greeted him. By kicking him out of his tree. Or...well it was her tree before, but technically..
He shoved the random thoughts to the back of his mind and narrowed his eyes in an attempt to remember the name, but still couldn't manage. "I uhh...can't recall now..." he replied, throat starting to dry. "I..I....uhm, I'm sorry." Chui tried to keep his eyes busy so he wouldn't be looking directly at her, so his eyes stayed focused on a nice plant nearby, trying to keep himself calm and collected like he normally was.
He was just never that fortunate when it came to conversing with the opposite sex.

"It's okay you don't have to tell me!" She smiled and moved a little closer to him, nudging him slightly.
"Calm down, I'm not going to eat you or anything. You seem really nervous." She smiled and sat down infront of him, her tail coiling around her body. She hadn't ever met a nervous male before and it intrigued her somewhat. She made sure she didn't look threatening though and sat in a graceful manner. She didn't want him feeling any less comfortable then he clearly already felt.

He smiled a little when she nudged him, trying to show that he really wasn't that nervous. Naturally, though, it didn't really work. He fidgeted in place a little bit, eyes darting here and there, determined not to land on Alana. "I'm...not really n-nervous. Just....uhm..yeah. No..I mean I'm not.." he tried to explain the way he was acting, but sighed and let the sentence die. "Sorry."
He breathed deeply for a bit to gather his thoughts and what little confidence he had with femmes, then looked over at Alana, who'd moved since he last looked her way. "So uhm...have you got family around here?" he asked, hoping his attempt at conversation was at least semi-decent.

She just laughed, oh he was a funny thing! It was kind of cute but she just couldn't help find it amusing that she could make someone feel uncomfortable, it just seemed silly!
"Family? Yes I have my daughter though goodness knows where she is now. Off wandering somewhere I expect." She smiled widely and chuckled a little. Oh how she missed being able to curl up with her daughter every night. Well, every child has to grow up at some point in their life.
"Do you have any family?"

His nervousness went up another notch when she laughed at him, sure that she found it odd that a grown male would act this way around any female. And he shifted in place as she answered his question, eyes now focused on the ground just in front of his paws.
Then she returned the question, and Chui smiled. It was a small, shy smile, but he was slowly losing his tenseness, though in very small portions. And shook his head. "No, no family for me," he answered. His mind then began to wander into his lost past, wondering where his mother and father, and maybe even brothers and sisters, had gone off to. And he sighed. "Not for a long time, anyway."
He went quiet for a while longer before clearing his throat. "Uhm...so..uhh..." and he racked his brain for another topic they could touch on. "Yeah, uhm. So do you live here? Or are you just passing through?"

Alana thought she may have hit a nerve so let the silence drag on until he spoke. She didn't really want to make him upset and was a little annoyed with herself that she possibly had done.
"Oh no I do live here. I adore my home and my daughter was born here as was I. It has many memories." She smiled softly and looked at him, clearly about to ask him the same question.
"Do you live here? I have found many leopards live here that I did not know about. It is all rather strange." She chuckled a little and waited for his reply. It was nice meeting all these leopards, even if she hadn't seen a female one in a while.

"Yeah, I've pretty much made this jungle my home," he happily obliged, finally lifting his head so she could see his face. "I've situated myself not far from here, and so far it's been a pretty nice experience. Nothing too threatening..." and he thought a moment before continuing, trying to find the right words to describe it. "Mmm...but it gets boring, and a little lonely sometimes. Days are pretty...monotonous, you know what I mean?"
He was pretty content, at that moment, with himself for managing to say what he actually meant around a femme. Usually he'd be stuttering nonstop, beating around the bush and most likely never getting around to what he really wants to say. But today seemed to be a better day.
"I haven't run into too many other leopards either," he continued his reply. "But the ones I manage to meet have been pretty nice. But most of the time, like most I guess, I'm just lazing in a tree." Chui laughed a little, eyes no longer wandering but staying on Alana.

Alana nodded. "Oh yes I know exactly what you mean! It does get rather boring and somewhat repetative. I mean I have Hera and she is a good friend but is trying to find me a mate and will probably find one for herself. So with her gone and my daughter grown and moved on it is so lonely." She smiled and chuckled a little.
"You get use to it don't worry!" She let the smile cross her face again and listened to what it was he was saying.
"Yes, I have met some very nice leopards. There is nothing better then lazing in trees, that is very true!" She chuckled, she was a prime example of that. She loved to lay in a tree lazing about not really doing anything.

She seemed like very pleasant company, he thought as she spoke. They had a lot of the same interests, and shared the same thoughts. It'd be nice to run into her again in the future. Chui smiled at the thought, happy to have finally found somebody around the jungle he felt at complete ease with. Or...at least, now that he'd gotten comfortable around her.....sorta.
"Mmm.." he said, closing his eyes to enjoy the small breeze that passed them by. "Just talking about it makes me wanna go and take a nap again..." The male chuckled and looked over at Alana, quickly thinking of what to change the subject to. "How 'bout it? I just woke up from a nap, but there's nothing to do right now anyway, so I'll just wind up finding a tree and taking another one."
