So I'm just kinda pissed/worried right now,
so I'm just going to rant,
you don't have to read it.
So I invited Michelle and Hailey over to my house last night, and we were in my basement playing Wii and video taping ourselves and whatnot, typical teenage fun. Then suddenly Michelle's mom calls, crying, and tell my mom that Michelle needs to get her stuff packed because something is wrong (this was at about midnight). Of course we immediately thought something was wrong with her grandma because she went into surgery that morning because she needed on of her breasts removed because of breast cancer.
So her mom gets here, tears streaming down her face, and by this point Michelle is crying as well because she convinced that her grandma has died.
So Hailey and I really aren't in the mood for talking when we're both worried about Michelle, so we go upstairs and watch Hairspray.
The phone rand around 2am.
Michelle's mom called, in her car, outside my house, and told my mom that she was dropping Michelle off.
So all of us, very tired, rush downstairs to let Michelle in who had been ringing the doorbell for a couple of minutes.
My mom was a little angry that she had just dropped Michelle off without telling us she was coming back, but we let Michelle in and the first thing she says and she walks in the door is "My dad thinks he's going to be arrested."
So we got some chips and pop and made a little nest of blankets on my bedroom floor and then Michelle went on to explain what she was talking about.
It started when her cousin Zac went onto Facebook.
He was on Facebook that morning and his mother (Michelle's aunt) happened to look over his shoulder as he was looking at Michelle's profile page. On her page she happened to have several quizzes she had done. Including "What underwear are you?" and "What will your daughter's name be?"
She then asked Zac to show her Michelle's pictures. One of which was her in shorts and a tanktop at the beach with her arm around her cousin Kert.
Her aunt immediately showed her mother all of this and her mother took these quizzes and photos as "I'm a bad parent and my daughter is pregnant."
So you know what they did?
You would think most parents would just talk to their children and tell them that they didn't think that this was acceptable.
Instead of that they took Michelle home,
uninstalled MSN,
made her take down everything she had on Facebook,
took away her cellphone,
read all of her text messages,
read all of her messages on Facebook,
put a password on the computer so that the only people who could get on the computer were her mom, her dad, and her brother who is 10,
and made a rule in their house that Michelle was never aloud to be home alone.
Not only that but her mother sat her down and told her that she was a slut, a b***h, and a c*** who was going to be pregnant by the time she was 16.
Then her dad grounded her,
because he found a thong in the laundry, which her mother bought her.
Not only that but her 10 year old brother also has facebook, with pictures, and the same quizzes, and they didn't do anything about it.
So now I'm REALLY worried about Michelle.
For a few months now she's been talking about running away,
and of course me and Hailey would tell her that if she did she was always welcome to come to our houses so we'd know she was safe.
But I think she really might run away this time,
and I'm so worried.
I don't know where she'll go,
and her friend Torry has been talking about running away too,
except Torry is 15 and skips school to get drunk,
and is into some drugs.
And I just don't want Michelle to get into all of that.
I heard from her about an hour or so ago,
but I hope to dear god she's as school tomorrow.

If she does run away, the least you can do is support her. There have been times where I've almost run away from home and some of my friends have stayed at my house when they ran away (I hid them at my grandma's house so nobody could find them when they searched my parent's house)...
I think her parents should be shot =o=

Ugh, i HATE parents like that. That's absolutely INSANE.
Maybe she should move in with you for a while, just to take some of the pressure off.

I agree, her parents should be shot.
And she said sent a text message quickly to Hailey before they took her phone away (which she just sent me a message and told me about) that she might stay at her Auntie Momo's for a while. Which is what I hope happens.

WinterBean I agree, her parents should be shot.

I don't get why her parents would overreact like that. The more they do that, the more likely she WILL turn into the person she doesn't want.
I understand what she's going through, though D: My mom thought I was gonna be preggers at 16...
That's why she mainly stuck me on the pill =o=

Ugh. I totally hate parents like that.
My mom is kind of like that sadly, but now she's starting to get a bit more lienient and trusting and whatnot.
And she's also on my Facebook. Which sucks and is majorly annoying.
I have ran away from home multiple times before.
But I was under the age of sixteen, so the police always had to threaten me to come home, or else this or that would happen.
But back on topic: If your friend is going to run away, make sure she's at least somewhere safe.
And I do not know what it's like there in Alberta, but here in Ontario, at the age of sixteen, you can live anywhere you want, and the police won't be able to do anything about it.
So, I don't think you would have to worry about the police or anything. I had a friend stay here for awhile, and the next week she turned sixteen, but she was only fifteen at the time, and the police came here and almost had to drag her out.
But awhile later, she ran away after her sixteenth birthday, and the cops said they could do nothing about it.

Holy ********, I had parents who overreact for no reason. I could totally see my mother reacting the same damn way. rolleyes I don't even see what was wrong with what she had on her facebook. Those quizzes are total crap anyway. They're just for fun. And the pictures sounded totally harmless [oh no, she's wearing SHORTS and a TANK TOP. Clearly, she's a slut.] Honestly, some parents freak out about having teenagers so much that they're actually doing the opposite of what was intended - they're only pushing her into a bad place instead of keeping her out of it. D: Hopefully her parents will calm down.

Oh my goodness, that is totally horrid! How many years until you guys graduate, because I guess my best advice is to look forward to the day college starts and she's on her own.
If it'll make anyone laugh, I think my mother is more concerned about me never having children. I keep saying "I'm going to die an old hag with no husband, and I'm never having children!" and she says "That's nonsense." and I say "Well, even if I do find a husband, I'm never going to have children, if I do so, I'll adopt", and she says, "That's also nonsense, you can't rely on your cousins to carry out the family heritage."
-sighs in shame at the long run on sentence-
Then I start to argue about how my children will never have my family name anyways because I'm female, and I'll never get a husband because I want him to change his last name to my last name, and our children to have my last name. And it goes off onto so many tangents.
Oh yesh, and at our mall, the store "Aeries" had a grand opening, and was giving out free underwear (it was the best shopping of my life, I had birthday money and I got free underwear, what more could I ask for?). And they had thongs there, and my mother said I could get one if I wanted, but I was too embarrassed to pick through them and bring one up to the cash register and everything with all those people around...
I think this is the explanation of why I don't have a boyfriend right now. I'm mousy, and too modest about things. I turned extremely beat red when one told me a dirty joke the other day and then ran away when they were starting to get suggestive back stage (ok, I'm better than I was, I'm a junior and I need to learn to embrace back stage inappropriateness).
So, tell your friend I feel extremely sorry for her! Also tell her to look forward to college when she won't have anyone looking over her shoulder and tracking every single move she makes. She can't be in her parent's control forever, she just has to wait a few more years until she can be on her own.

Ooo, how about we put my family in an arena with her parents and make them fight to the death!
Family is really pissing me off at the moment. Ok I don't speak to them anymore, they're stalking me, and it's ******** annoying.
If she is thinking on running away, make sure there is a way you will be able to get in contact with her.
If she is still under 16 then there is alot she may not know about when it comes to running away and she may need someone to fall back on to.
And, there is a big chance she will get caught anyway. It only took my family two months to find me, and I move half way across the country.
