Mut curled her tail, watching the horizon. Danzi had been gone a while... Where was her big brother at? It hadn't just been hours, or days... He'd been gone for what seemed WEEKS. It worried the lioness greatly. In that time, she'd grown far rounder, and in the confines of the den Danzi had taken to calling his own, off the main of Pride Rock... She'd bore two sons, Sioda and Ushujaa, who looked every bit a mix of her and Ushukuru. But that did nothing to ease her worries.

Sand clung to every part of him, from his fur to his mane. The rogue-born Pridelander shook it out as best he could, wondering in some part if he'd done the right thing. As he looked back, and thought of Mut being attacked, he decided... He had. A lion like that deserved such a fate. It had also given him a chance to go see... Them. Ripuka, and their children. A son and daughter... Another daughter, only his second. That he knew of, anyway. A sigh puffed out before he headed for Pride Rock. He missed it dearly.

She shifted, spotting a distinct dot drawing closer. That orange pelt... She knew that orange pelt! No other Pridelander had it. Glancing for a moment at the cubs, the lioness turned and went running to greet him. Mut ignored the sand granules in Danzi's pelt, not asking where he'd been to get them. All she cared about was, he was home, her big brother was home!

He should have expected it, but Danzi was still surprised. The purr resounding in his ears made him smile, just a little, at the fact that somewhere... Somebody missed him. For a moment, he wondered... How many DID miss him? Ripuka missed him... No, she missed Makaa'kali the growth-stunted Firekin. Mut.. Missed Danzi, the rogue-born Pridelander she called Big Brother. Grooming an ear, he smiled at her. "Shouldn't you be asleep, Mut?"

Looking up, the peach and chocolate lioness smiled. "Yes, but... I couldn't help but come to meet you. I've been worried. Where did you go?" Blue eyes shimmered with curiousity, wanting to know about the smell of the desert he held. Having never left the Pridelands in her life, she wondered marginally about the outside world. No desire, though, ever bubbled to go look.

Chuckling, Danzi motioned to the distant dunes. "I went to see a friend amid the dunes. She does well." The purr Mut elicited made him smile. He would regret what he said next, though. "I also took that lioness to the Firekin. They should be pleased to have one of Nyekundu's daughters as a slave." He sounded every bit as cold and rutheless, in that moment, as a Firekin was capable of being.

Horror dawned upon Mut's face. He'd... He'd taken a lion to be a SLAVE? It had never occured to her before that such stories were true, but the way he'd said it... "Danzi... That was... She APPOLOGISED! She was CRUSHED when she appologised!" And she'd held the vague scent of recent motherhood... Backing up, the peach lioness shook her head. "Danzi... What have you done?" She said no more, turning and running back to the cave. Moments later, she emerged again, taking the two cubs one at a time to another place to sleep. She was not pleased in the least with her adopted brother's actions.

She had never out-right called him Danzi. He'd always been, according to Mut, 'big brother'. The fact she'd called him by his name made it sink in that maybe he'd done something... Wrong. Very wrong. He went inside, pacing a bit. Pausing, he looked at the deep claw marks in the walls. His father had left those.... Going over, he placed his paws on the wall. "Father... Am I no different from you...?" He sighed, squeezing his eyes shut before digging his own claws in, leaving his own marks upon the wall. He was no different, wasn't he?
He paced for hours before finally falling into a restless sleep. When morning came, instead of remaining... Danzi turned and left the Pridelands to think. He would return.. But for now, he needed to just get out and think. What HAD he done?
