Anisia had ran her way up to the third floor in the mansion, a place she usually never bothered to go to. She always found herself tied up in a conversation with another child by now, but today nobody seemed to be around. She didn't know whether to be thankful or to sprint back home as soon as she could. The three-eyed girl was so set upon finding one of her old friends, but her heart was racing almost constantly. A loud and hectic house would have surely screwed her up even more, but the dead silence was so unnerving. It just gave such a bigger playground for things to toy with her. To chase her, follow her.

She clutched her new paint set closer to her chest and held back tears. She could see shadows out of the corner of her eye. Always moving and following. Ani desparately wished for company, but someone calm. Someone who wouldn't push her into doing anything right now. Her mind wouldn't be able to handle much at this moment. She just wanted someone who would make her feel safe while she was without Kiita, since she told her guardian being 'reintroduced' to the mansion was something she wanted to do alone.

Ani ran all the way down the end of the hallway. She quickly scanned the art room before turning a canvas so she could face the door. Having the door to her back would just terrify her. She was alone, but she wasn't alone. She could blink once, and a hand would appear at the doorway. Another instant, it'd be gone.

Her tears finally flowed as she took a big gulp of breath and sat down. She was going to paint what she saw.
Then she could show Kiita, who was confused by it all. Apparently nobody else could see what she did.

Anisia picked up her paintbrush and made a stroke on the blank paper, but everything seemed to be...almost melting. The canvas and paintbrush began to droop, the simple stroke of paint had began to drip off the edge and form a droplet with an impression of an unfamiliar face. "No, no, no...YOU'RE SOLID!" She screamed fearfully, trying to actually convince herself it was as well. She immediately stood up, knocking her chair over. "YOU'RE JUST PAINT! YOU'RE NOT REAL!" Ani threw her paintbrush at the melting canvas and put her face in her hands as she sobbed.

In reality, nothing had melted. There was still one stroke of black paint on the canvas, however an added splatter as well, smack in the middle after she threw her paintbrush at it.

It was rare for Flitch to wander up tot he third floor of the Shiroko mansion, but today he had come to return a book he had borrowed from the mansion's extensive library. He normally went through the entrance on the second floor, leading to the library's lower level. Today, however, the lower level was locked. Surprised, Flitch had decided to climb up another flight to try to see if the door of the library's upper level.

To his disappointment, the upper floor was also locked. Weird. They'd never been locked before. Ah well. He had no plans to hang around today, so Flitch simply deposited the book right outside the door. Someone would see them eventually.

It was when he turned to go that he heard the scream.

Flitch instantly tensed, listening. It was a girl screaming something, but the walls garbled the words so that he couldn't hear them properly.

He did recognize that voice, though.

Although his better senses told him to turn around and leave right now, Flitch instead let his curiosity lead him, and he headed down the halls towards where the screaming had seemingly originated from.

The screams had turned to sobbing by the time Flitch found the source. It was a girl, mostly hidden behind a canvas, face buried in her hands as she cried. Frowning, Flitch entered the room, reaching out to lightly touch her shoulder.

"Anisia? What's wrong?"

The girl was so busy sobbing she didn't seem to hear him come in. Why did they come? Why couldn't they just - she jerked and let out a small squeak in a surprise when she felt someone touch her shoulder. Her first assumption was that it was one of those things, finally physically reaching out for her.

But when he spoke, Anisia opened all three of her eyes and lowered her hands slightly. It was an actual person. Too tall for her to look at eye level, she looked up. It took a minute to register since she hadn't seen him in a very long time, but the glasses and blue hair weren't easy to mistaken. He was the only one she knew with glasses, after all.

"...Flitch?" She said aloud, just to make sure. Wiping the tears off her cheeks, she managed to give him a small, sad smile. "You're taller." She said mainly to herself, sniffling a little. Ani's eyes seemed to wander every so often, looking behind him and around him, but she made sure her attention was primarily focused on her grown friend.

Flitch's hand flinched back in startled surprise at Anisia's reaction, though he did not try to settle it upon her shoulder once again. She was troubled, that was easy enough to see. But what could be bothering her so?

"Yeah, it's me," he acknowledged with a small smile, though the concern did not slide from his eyes. "You look terrible. Did something happen... if you don't mind my asking?"

The last bit had been tacked on hastily after a momentary pause. Perhaps she didn't want to talk. But the girl was upset, and it was base instinct that had Flitch attempting to pry. She was his friend, after all. And friends helped friends.

Anisia winced a little. She probably did look terrible, though she didn't care to fix herself other than continuing to wipe away the tears off her cheeks. She figured she looked similar to a wet mop by now anyway.

"I..." She paused as a thought crossed her mind. She felt a light sting in her heart, although it certainly wasn't caused by the teen in front of her. Truth was, she didn't want him to turn away from her. He might think she was a weirdo psycho freak or something if she told him.

But he wouldn't do that. That wasn't in Flitch's nature to... "I just got scared, is all." Anisia finished lamely. No, the Flitch she used to know wouldn't think she was crazy, but even the slightest thought he would would have hurt her. He was older now. Maybe different, she wasn't sure. So better to take the safe route.

Many conflicting thoughts crossed her eyes, but she managed to keep his gaze for a few seconds. "Its too quiet up here." She added softly for emphasis to her previous explanation.

Something crawling on the ceiling behind Flitch. Ani closed her eyes and concentrated on breathing steadily and not panicking. "Its not there..." She mouthed to herself.

...Anisia opened her eyes and gave another weak smile to him as if she hadn't done anything at all out of the ordinary.

Although Anisia was doing her best to try and assure him nothing was wrong, Flitch was having a hard time buying the little story. She seemed.. really off. Something was way wrong with her.

"It is quiet," he agreed regardless. Probably because they were on the top floor, where few people seemed to venture. "Maybe we could head downstairs? It's usually a bit more active then up here..."

The offer trailed off lamely. Hey, it wasn't like he had much to go off of here! And with Anisia so distraught, he didn't even know how to properly address this issue. The fact that she seemed unwilling to talk helped none.

Again the girl flinched away, eyes shut. What was she scared of? "Are you sure you're okay?" he pressed once more.

She felt lightly relieved that Flitch would go along with her 'its quiet' excuse. Both of them knew it wasn't the real reason, but until she felt one hundred percent sure he wouldn't turn his back on her, she'd let them continuing pretending.

"Yeah...I'm not sure why I came all the way up here..." Anisia admitted, though originally it WAS to get away from the mansion downstairs that had the possibility of becoming busy and loud.

"I'm okay, lets just go downstairs." Ani insisted, hoping he wouldn't press much more. Then she took his hand in hers for comfort, hoping he wouldn't mind and it wasn't overstepping any boundaries.

"Did you see anyone on your way up?" She questioned, peeking left and right of the hallway before pulling him gently into the hallway with her.

Flitch was so accustomed to getting dragged around by the hand that he didn't so much as blink in surprise When Anisia placed her hand in his and began to lead him along.

"I didn't see anyone when I came in. Though, I didn't really look."

He hadn't had a reason to. The visit was supposed to be an in-and-out thing, after all. "Maybe someone's come in."
