I just finished watching an Indian movie about Dyslexia and omg~
I some times feel the same pain as that poor kid did.
Dyslexia is what people call a 'Disorder'. I absolutely do not believe it is a disorder at all. Its just they way their brain is wired. They learn differently from other people...its just like how I can write with my right hand and how some people can write with there left. Its just how the brain is wired. Period.
I myself have problems reading and writing. Not as bad as my brother (He can't write or read at all and he is 13 years old soon). I am horrible in writing and putting in like commas and periods and s**t like that. I hate writing and I'll always will and I hate reading books that do not have pictures. Sometimes I may run into a book, that has no pictures, and will read it....but that is really rare. The book has to be fictional, romance, and will keep you in suspense and something that I can picture in my head and not a lot of hard words that I can not understand.
What I hate the most about Dyslexia is people making fun of it and laughing and point at you calling you a retard.
All I know....those bastards that make fun of us that we have Dyslexia of course forgot that the most famous people that invented, made cartoons that we have grew up and loved and artists and actors, had Dyslexia!

Geniuses/Actors/Painters with Dyslexia:
-Leonardo da Vinci
-Albert Einstein
-Pablo Picasso
-Orlando Bloom
-Walt Disney
-Muhammad Ali
And many many more.

So, screw all those people that call us Sped, and retards...they can shove a deer up there friggen asses.
We work are a** off.
.
.
.
O.k I'm calm now.
Phew.

Discuss:
-Dyslexia
-Are you pissed off?
-Movies that really moved you.

I've never heard anyone make fun of someone Dyslexic [i think...]. I don't see why anyone would. I don't consider dyslexic people stupid or whatever. :/ Like you mentioned, there are geniuses who were Dyslexic.

People can be such douche bags. D<

At are school, there is a lot of assholes.
I had one last semester and he kept calling me a Sped and throwing s**t at me.
So, I got mad...had my fist ready and told him (While the teacher was teaching) "If you don't F**king stop calling me a f**king Sped. I will make a f**king hole in your f**king suck up face."
And he sat back down and shut up....and I got in trouble for swearing. Lol.

Meh, I've been through worse (can't imagine what my brother has to go through everyday). one of my extra help teacher found out and she got really pissed off. She tried to convince me to beat the crap out of him after school.
Shes kinda of crazy...but she is soooo funny and so smart.

Some kids, unfortunately, either have bad examples set for them at home or are generally douchebags. I can understand why they called dyslexia a disorder. As you said, dyslexia is a neurological occurence wherein the brain ends up being wired differently from normal. The generic definition of a 'disorder' is a functional abnormality or disturbance... hence why it is referred to as a disorder. It has nothing to do with intelligence or anything like that, nor are they calling it a disease. It's simply a way of classification, I think.

I will admit, I feel badly that you can't understand the joys of reading or writing like I can, simply because it gives me so much pleasure. I personally think most, if not all, people have some form of dyslexia. It just manifests itself more prominently in some over others [also, it may be categorized or recognized as something else].

Everyone gets teased for something in school, whether it's appearence, intelligence, or what have you. That doesn't make it right, but do know that you're not alone.

P.S. - next time, don't threaten, punch him. wink

I'm happy that I come from a home that is open minded.
My mom also has Dyslexia and her reading level is at a grade 5 or 6 and writing a grade 3.
She always had trouble at school and was a trouble maker and skipped a lot in Elementary and High school and my dad as well.
So they both understand what we have to go through (not just my brother and I...also my two older sisters).
And my parents work very hard to get were they are now...so I am very proud of my parents.
And I think I will punch the next person that makes fun of me.
The thing I hate most is people making fun of down syndrome kids.
They are the sweetest people that you will ever know! I hate were I live because there is a lot of asses here that make fun of them.
They don't make the time to at least get to know them!
I had one that always wanted to sit next to me and hug me....he was soooo adorable.
Oh, and my parents are not stupid....my mom is probably the smartest person that I know. She always as something new to tell us everyday.
and I love how she speaks and how she describes it and how she moves her hand when she explains things and I especially love it when she speaks about Religion and we start to have debates while we are eating and my dad is very good with history (Spanish fanatic D=)

I wouldn't think your parents or you or your brother were stupid. :/ Just because someone suffers from dyslexia doesn't automatically mean they not intelligent. It just means that they have trouble understanding and learning the way other kids do because of the way their brain was hardwired. I mean, even "normal" people can be fantastic at one subject and total crap at another subject. I'm glad your parents are so awesome, though. It would have been a lot worse if you had ended up with those who didn't [want to] understand.
