Anyone who really likes dogs will like these anime series. (And are also manga) Nagareboshi Gin came before Densestu Weed and admitingly I skipped it to watch Weed for a rather banal reasoning of animation quality. I am still watching Weed. Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin A bear, Akakabuto, is terrorising futago pass, killing indescriminately. He and his follows prove a scurge of the area. Gin, a rare tiger-striped (tora-ge) Akita was trained as a bear dog and one day decides to leave his human master and join a pack of wild dogs who intend to bring down Akakabuto. Leader of this pack is Gin's own father, Riki. Nagareboshi follow's the pack as they recruit male dogs from all over to fight against the bear.
Ginga Densetsu Weed A young pup discovers he is in fact the son of Gin, the dog who took down the Akakabuto. On discovering his heritage and the untimely death of his mother Weed (named by an English Setter called GB) wants to meet his father and goes to Futago pass and Gajou where the bear was defeated and his father apparantly is. The journey becomes complicated by twists and turns and enemies. Finding his father becomes secondary, to defeating the evil Great Dane Hougen who has taken over Gajou.
I'm really enjoying this. I have a BIg love of dogs and you get to see and try to recognise some native Japanese breeds. However just because we have dogs in an anime does not make it kiddie friendly. Both contain an awful lot of death's. So far in Weed almost every episode has resulted in one death to multiple. It truly is a dog eat dog world out there/.

Bampot I watched the first 8 or 9 episodes around a year ago. I always wanted to continue it. Hooray a watcher! I completed Weed in a month. You can find the whole series on-line if you know the best places to look.
