It was a bright, sunny and beautiful day. However, Mafuriko was in a rather sour mood. He had been for quite some time now, Kiwi disappearing had been horrible enough, then his nephew went and got himself into a tangly mess with a girl.. and now that said girl was back, and Riko did not approve, he no longer stayed with his nephew. Overall, none of this helped to improve his mood- and being bored was not too cheerful either.
Bored bored bored.
He'd ended up wandering towards the waterhole, which was usually a good place to find something interesting to do. Maybe he'd work on his hunting a bit, recalling how miserably he'd failed at catching birds last time. He wasn't hungry so he wouldn't actually hurt anything.. but maybe it would be something to occupy his time.

Sauda was a big girl now and though she was very much "daddy's little girl" and completely content living with her family, she knew better than to be a burden. So she had started hunting on her own, or aiding her parents and siblings when they went out. She wanted to be able to hold her own and contribute to the family as a whole. Today she had gone out to the watering hole, since it was usually the best place to find anything to catch.
When she had gotten there, however, she was at a loss for what to chase. Everything gathering here seemed so big...and she wasn't quite old enough to take them down on her own. She circled through and around the herds attentively and managed to do so rather easily. Apparently they found her to be little threat. Oh well...at least it meant she might be able to find something in her league.

When Riko reached the watering hole, he scanned the area for some birds. They were quick and hard to catch, but he didn't realize that. And, of course, having been beaten by them before, he wanted to try again. He wanted to get them back, prove he could do it. Arrogant as he was, his ego might be bruised if he didn't accomplish it this time but he was also stubborn enough to keep trying.
So long as no one happened to know about it.
Spotting something feathery and foolish looking, he ducked into some tall grass to see if he could get it. He didn't pay much attention to anything else that was going on in the background, least of a less-than-intimidating huntress.

Sauda began to tune out the larger animals, focusing her senses on what she knew was small and, in her mind, more accessable. She slipped through a herd of zebra to duck into a cluster of reeds. There she paused, perking her ears and taking to pick a target, any target, to go up against. Completely oblivious to another, most likely better, hunter she finally spotted a flock of water birds. Taking a moment to sitate herself she finally lunged forward and darted out after them, making a pounce at the nearst preeding avian.
