It was another one of those beautiful days in the jungle. The sun was coming through the branches in just the right amount for a lion to sun himself, the river was still cool and refreshing, and there were no lionesses wandering through the male territory expecting him to behave properly. However, the blood-red lion sunning himself on the jungle floor did not allow himself to expose his belly to the air or get too relaxed. He had his dignity to consider, after all.
So Kiongozi found himself resting his head on his front paws as he scanned his surroundings for anything unusual.

It wasn't really unusual for the large yellow lion to be there, if Koi told him to go, he would go, but this was really his first time int he male quarters and he was ecxploreing. With his tail flagging about wildley and a rather dopey grin on his dark maw the pale yellow male padded about in an almost cubbish manner, he infact almost skipped along.
He paused when he saw another male lion though his smile never faded he simply picked up his pace and flumpped himself dustily before the other male. "IIIsn't it a by..by..byootiful day?" He stutters even in non threatening situation Liza found it hard not to stutter it was a force of habbit.

Kion couldn't believe he hadn't seen the other male coming; he had gotten so distracted by a strange plant in the distance that he'd lost his sense. How embarassing. Still, real conversation was hard to come by sometimes, so Kion decided to take it while there were no females around to ruin it.
"It is a beautiful day," the red lion agreed with a grin. It was hard not to smile when others were smiling around you, after all. "I've never seen you around, though. Did a female bring you into the pride?" As an afterthought, he added, "My name's Kiongozi, but since I don't deserve that name you can call me Kion."

Liza grinned in a silly, dopish sort of manner and nodded. "YYes, my mmistress Koi braught me here. BBut my Mother was b..bborn in the prpride. She was sent away bbefore I was born." He beams, knowing the history of his mother made him feel proud even if he wasn't a big part of the pride he still felt a great, pleased swelling that he had returned to the place his motehr called home.
"Mmmy name is Liza, I far from ddeserve the name either." He chuckles, remembering his mothers words from when he was very young. "Have you lived here your wh..wh..whole life Kion? You must feel very pri..pri..privalaged. I'm glglad to be here. I'm fi..fi..finally home, the outside world is v..vvery strange."

Ah, now this was intriguing. Kion had assumed the stutter was from the period of adjustment most outside males went through when a female brought them here. To those born outside the pride, Kion realized, the way males were treated could come as a shock, and some could come out of it...strange. This male, on the other paw, seemed like a friendly character after all. His mother had been sent away? Well, there had been much...dishonor...in the pride before the two of them were born, if his own mother's rants were any indication.
"I have never ventured outside these lands," Kion admited. "I don't know what to call how I feel about that, but I am glad I do not live in the outside lands. How did you survive on your own out there for so long?"

Liza smiled widely his tail wagging as usual. He could always be described as a very large fluffy dog, loyal to the end and very loving. "IIt was hard. Tthey don't ttreat you rright out there." he gave a somlen nod. "Mmistress koi found me though and bbraught me hhome." He managed a dreamy sort of smile rolling accross his maw.
"WWhere you lucky enough to have bbeen born hhere? I wuwish my mother had mumumade it back. Shshe was a grgrgreat warrioress."

"I was born here," Kion admitted. "To a great lioness; she taught me most of what I know today. In fact, I'm the only surviving creature who knows about exactly what happened to her clan." The red lion sighed and shuddered, a once smiling face turned cold by deep thought. "You see, the matron of my mother's clan tried to claim she had taken down a mighty elephant she had found in the jungle; she even got some of her friends to help her with the story. My mother took no part of it, and refused to even touch the carcass for fear of the toh her clan would have to meet."
"That is the reason I am alive today; every lioness who ate of the elephant got sick and died, including the matron, who my mother said wanted to meet her toh by living the next life as a male. Unfortunately, that meant my mother was the last of her clan, and I was the only cub she was able to have. But she taught me that I have a purpose in life; to meet the toh of my mother's clan as best as I can. It is a heavy burden that I do not think I will meet in this lifetime, but I am glad to have been born here to at least know what I'm supposed to be doing," at the end of his story, the red lion began to smile again. "I think that's the first time I've ever told anyone that whole story. Could you please keep it a secret between us, Liza?"

Liza smiled. It felt nice to acctually stand beside someone who knew his place who knew why he exsisted. He felt he had found a kindred spirit in this deep red male before him. The big yellow lug listened carefully, silence reigning as he took in the whole tale. It seemed elephants had effected both of their lives Kions more than his own it seemed.
"II wwwill not tell a soul Kion." He smiled wagging his great thick tail. "Iit seems like wwe are bbboth affected by the elephant. Mmy mother dddied trtrying to avenge my fufufathers dududeath against a rrogue elephant." His brow creased, he missed his mother she had taught him everything he knew, she had taught him well. "II am glglgad I have been able to treturn to her hhhome lands and hhhopefully brbring her honour and blblblood line bback to the pride." Liza felt proud just to be back in his real home lands amongst those whom understood and meeting kion was a blessing to say the least. he felt he had a friend, an acctual friend not just a mistress for the first time in his life.

Kion had never thought he'd find a true kindred spirit. Even their stories of becoming part of the pride were similar! He certainly didn't think it was coincidence that he had met this big yellow rogue and told him the truth about his past; Kunanda beliefs didn't leave much room for coincidence.
"I used to be afraid of the elephant," Kion admitted. "But now I know it was meant to be. I would not be the lion I am today without the things that happened in the past. Perhaps you would not be here today either, Liza," the red lion said, a slight frown crossing his maw. "It seems we both have tohs to meet...and I am glad that I shall have a new friend walking with me on this path."

Liza smiled, a genuine smile his ears flattening nad almost vanishing in to his thick silky mane. Deep orange eyes watched the red masle quietly before he spoke again. "yYes, perhaps you are rrright. I spent a lllong time out there, ssearching for a home and I ddoubt I would be here if mmiss koi had not found me." He gives a gentle nod a pleased smile gracing his maw.
"I sstill fear the elephant bbut I do not blblame it. My mother chchallanged it alone. She was strong but the elephant ststronger. Shshe released me to the woworld the day she ddied I hhope this is the ppath she would have wanted me to fffollow." He looked to koin, friend a true friend. "yYes my friend. I'm glglad I have someone to speak to, a friend. I have nnever had a frfriend before."
