KK this is my evening's work and source of worry. I've not done a photomanip for ages but I was inspired by this guy. I went to his show the other day which was great, except for the lack of free booze. Politics creeps into a lot of my work but I'm conscious of how hard it is to make a piece of political artwork that isn't cliched, too obvious, too obscure . . . Any comments, observations, whatever would be really appreciated, especially as this is sort of unchartered territory for me in some ways. Thanks smile

Is there significance to the lack of content under the table because it is definitely drawing my attention away from the top half of the picture

Tohomito Is there significance to the lack of content under the table because it is definitely drawing my attention away from the top half of the picture No, I just didn't really know what to put there without making it seem too crowded. I was going to put some kids playing with broken toys under there but it seemed a bit cliched. Either that or some form of pile of something. Mmm I see what you mean. I tried putting the eagles down there but it just looked wrong. Maybe if I took the eagles out altogether it would redress the balance. Any ideas?

I tried cropping some of the length off the table legs but it looked wrong.

Speaking of photomanips, the effing Scholastic art competition groups digital art and photomanips together. A picture I slaved over in Photoshop for half a semester only got Honorable Mention. The winner did some crappy photomanip. RANTRANTRANT.
Anyway, that's not important.
I like the money in the background, it's kinda gray-green and goes really well with the monotone aspect of the rest of the piece. biggrin

If it were me, I'd probably crop the bottom half of the image altogether since the important elements are at the top, and the bottom half is a little distracting. I really like it though, the colours work really well xx

Sometimes its justifiable and works but a lot of the time its just lazy. Its the way it goes though. Annoying but true.

Yeah, the only thing is that it then accentuates the fact that the table's a bit wonky, I'll have a fiddle around with that and see if I can sort it out.

I dunno I kind of like the wonkiness, it has connotations of instability and insecurity which I think adds to how bizarre an image it is. xx

I would have thrown some photomanip stretched out long legs with tiny feet in there under the table, but that's just me.
What's the significance? Pardon my ignorance.

The Iconoclast I would have thrown some photomanip stretched out long legs with tiny feet in there under the table, but that's just me. What's the significance? Pardon my ignorance. There wasn't really any thought behind it when I started, it just kind of evolved as I went along. I guess you'd say its about people making money out of the insecurities of others, hence Tom Cruise and Jim Cunningham from Donnie Darko. A comment on scientology? Read it how you will. Yeah the legs would have been nice but i have no skillz in that department. I might give it a whirl when I've got a bit of time on my hands and I'm not late for work. Oops
