I just heard on the radio that Brian admitted that he never knew Freddie was gay/bi until the AIDS issue...he just thought that he was metrosexual...that makes me laugh...I dunno if it's true or not...any info on it?

Wow. Beats the living daylights out of me. I never knew that, either--I mean, I guess I had assumed the other guys in the band were okay with it, but the fact that Brian didn't know...

Lol, I can see where Brian could think that. I have a manager at work and untill he actually said, "yes I am gay", there was really no telling what he was. Plus we get along so well that it wouldn't matter either way. I know from experience that if you're around someone so much, you just get used to how they are and its not untill an outsider says something do you notice something's different. That's probubly the case for Brian.

I think that perhaps now is a good time to move on from the subject; I mean, there's nothing wrong with knowing a little about the guys behind Queen's music, but at some point enough is enough, you know? I mean, the band's attitude toward/knowledge of Freddie's sexuality doesn't really matter all that much in the grand scheme of things, really. smile

but Freddie probubly didn't go "hey guys, im gay!!!". so the only peope talking about it were the tabloids, and im sure Brian doesnt read those. I know I wouldn't if I were in his position. So it makes sense that Brian wouldn't know, and if he heard it, he might not have believed it.

Hey! Here I am investigating this thread once again! Wouldn't you know it!
Sometimes I like to pretend I'm one of those fans who cares only about the music and not soaking up superfluous facts about the band members, but eventually the mask falls away and I must face the world as obsessive, pretentious me. I hereby apologize for making everyone in this thread put up with my hypocrisy. redface Anywho, here's my two cents...
It could be possible that Brian just turned a blind eye to Freddie's preferences--like, maybe Brian just preferred to leave him alone about that sort of thing, and felt it would be inappropriate to get involved. There could have been a part of him that suspected, but perhaps the reason he didn't consciously notice was that he put the band's music first, and found it unnecessary to investigate Freddie's sexuality.

Theres a shot of him in the making of One Vision. But Freddie probably said they were just friends, as Jim was known to everyone as Freddie's gardener
