Plot

In a city built into a mountain, one gang takes precedence over all others. The Eternal Nightmares are an underground gang of thieves and cut throats renowned for their brutality. The mountain city is actually a fortress and the capital city. The bottom level is the poor and works its way up to the highest level being the palace grounds, which themselves are consisting of a few smaller levels. Somewhere in the middle is the market place surrounded by old dilapidated buildings where the Elemental Nightmares like to hangout and �nest�. The royalty is aloof and conceited, and only travels on the one main �highway� which was kept clean of riff raff. 75% of the city is poverty-stricken. The death rate and infant mortality rate is increasingly disturbing. Street fights and unrecorded murders are common. People are often afraid to exit their rooms, but have to continue on in life. The City Guards are cruel themselves, and live to bring down thieves, large and small.

The Eternal Nightmares don�t believe in letting anyone go. If you meet up with them, you either serve with them, for them, or your dead. About once a month, they have what they call recruitment nights in which they go out searching for poor souls to murder or to take into their group. That is not the only night they murder though. On the contrary, they murder almost everyday depending on their mood. Every once in a while, they will make plans to rob a store or even a small bank; their leader makes all major plans, such as those.

The leader, Angelo is merciless. He murdered his parents 7 years ago in front of his younger sisters and then took the youngest to hold over the head of the other. Alice or �Ice�, as the gang members commonly call her, is only 8 years old, and Jeanette is 15. She has to thieve for her brother and his gang in order to survive and procure the safety of her younger sister. Alice has an illness which causes Jeanette to be even more protective. She has compassion and is empathetic.

Daniella O�Byrne is a poverty stricken girl, with a family under the eyes of the Nightmares. Her 16-year-old brother John has been sucked into their world, but Dani fights to keep him out of it. The Nightmares killed their father, but Darrien, a member of the Nightmares who wishes to recruit the two, lies to John because John could prove useful, and Dani is an excellent thief, though she refuses to take more than her family needs at any time. She herself is kind and only takes from those she marks as ones who can afford it. Now with her 17 and a half, John newly 16, Matt 14, Brand and Ava still only just babies themselves; things are looking awful. As well, Dani believes her mother is getting sick but medicine costs more than their rent and the money it took them to survive on for a month.

The city population is 2 million, and about 500 000 merchants and nobility live there. Dani tries to help out her family and usually succeeds but lately the guards have become vindictive, the Nightmares have stepped up their robbing and thieving. Security is tighter on homes, and deaths have increased. People on the Wall of Misery- the wall where traitors, thieves, and anyone else unlucky enough to be caught by guards are hung, as well as hatred for the monarchy is increasing. It has been several years since the good king has been seen, and since his last sighting, the poverty has increased ten fold. Gambling and games are becoming very common. Anyone caught to far into debt can be sold to slavers so that people can get their money. It is also common for young children to go missing and be found in a slavers cage the next day for sale to nobility. In a world like this, how is one to survive?

Personality: cold-hearted, evil, full of malice and a killer, merciless, vindictive.
Brief Bio: His parents, though poor, were determined that he wouldn't become a thief, and were convinced that their book learned son would not survive on the streets with the former leader of the Eternal Nightmares. Angelo proved them wrong, rose to the top of the gang ladder, and had his parents killed in front of his little sisters.

Personality: She is really quiet and withdrawn. She resents and detests her elder brother who she believes was misnamed. Her sole companion at the beginning point is her sister Alice (though everyone else calls her Ice)
Bio: She watched her parents killed by her brother Angelo, and then watched her sister taken and held against her. She herself was beaten by some of her brother�s friends. Mostly it is when she disrespects them or does not comply or completely fill their demands.

Personality: She's a little shy, a little out going. Distrustful but protective of her family.
Brief Bio: Her father died 4 years ago. She has 3 younger brothers: John aged 16, Matt(ison) aged 14, Brand aged 8, and a younger sister Ava 4 and a half. Ava hadn't even been born when their father had died; their mother was 4 months pregnant with her. They live in the poorest of the poor district. Her father had worked at any job that had needed filling, but had, just before her death been taking "loans" from the gang Eternal Nightmares. They'd killed him, but John didn't understand. He thinks they were helping. He's been sucked into the lies, and Dani has to try and keep him out of it. Though he's bent upon helping out with the Nightmares, and now Matt is old enough to be of use as well.

Personality: He's a rebellious, run of the mill guy- kind of anyway.
Brief Bio: He seems bent on self-destruction, and is determined to join the Eternal Nightmares. He has actually met the gang leader before. He is turning cruel under the tutoring of Darrien. (Family history is the same as Dani�s)

It is everyday currency. Think american dollar, but remeber, WE ARE ALL POOR! With 75% of the population being poor, odds are, prices are inflamed. This means a loaf of bread could be $5 at the least.

Matt looked confused wondering what had been taking his sister so long then decided to try to forget about it and started trying to keep the rock in the air. He kept kicking it and kicking it until it finally hit the ground. Matt sighed and looked back at the house. He was worried now and decided he had to look for Dani though he knew she'd scold him for it later. He wandered a bit out oif the area expanding the area he could look around. Matt had gone out way farther than his sister had ever known and had only been found out a couple of times by her of course he never really stayed out long because he wanted to avoid as much trouble as possible.
