arrow Hello and welcome to the Band Nerd Guild's Banner Making Contest.
arrow What is this about?
Well for the longest time our coding for our banners have been messed up, which currently have been fixed. Also we've had a massive influx of members along with new subforums. As such I would love to see some new banners made by our own users.
arrow Prizes:
Grand Prize - 20,000 gold
Most Humorous/ Best Slogan - 10,000 gold
Best Plain Text - 5,000 gold

arrow Starting / Ending Date:
Starts: Feb 07, 2008
Ends: March 3, 2008 at 10 PM EASTERN Standard Time (That's 7PM Pacific/Gaia Time).
arrow Rules:
1. It MUST be under 500 x 500 pixels, and under 100,000 bytes. (This is the Gaia TOS rule, and it must be followed.)
2. You must host your own image. We, as in the guild moderators, will not host the banners for you. If you do not wish to use up bandwidth on your own imagehosting account (i.e. photobucket) I highly recommend using ImageShack, since you are not required to have an account and it'll basically host up your image forever. We will use the link you provide us, and if the image is taken down off the hosting, we will take down the image as well.
3. Do NOT PM me. Once you have completed your banner, please post your image in the thread. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments- once again post in it in this thread.
4. Your banners must retain some significance to the guild. You are making banners for the guild. Nothing random that has nothing to do with the guild. Once again let me stress that these are BANNERS. Not just random images that relate to music. (And I will not accept images just swiped off the net and you call them a banner. I also will not accept art theft.)
arrow Helpful Tips:
1. Before you do anything, please check out preexisting banners in the RULES AND BANNERS ((READ ME!!)) Announcement. (Just scroll down.) This should give you an idea of what we're looking for, along with what has been done in the past.
2. Though not required, but it would be very nice if the banner said "Band Nerd Guild" on it. (In fact your chances of winning are going to be MUCH higher if it says Band Nerd Guild. These banners are for members to put in their sig to advertise- and how are people going to know what we're advertising if there isn't a name on there?)
3. Try not to be insulting towards other instruments/ sections. Poking fun at others is ok, but you may be disqualified for breaking guild rules.
4. We're not only looking for banners that are just for specific instruments or sections. We would also LOVE if we had some banners for singing/choir, rock bands, music in general, guard (as we only have one) and even plain text banners that just say "Band Nerd Guild."
5. Going with the above tip, we are looking for perhaps a new banner for our "Home Page" of the guild. We'll most likely be looking for a plain, but unique and creative, text banner. We don't really want any images.
6. We accept banners of any size (though the max is 500 x 500 pixels). You can do a small "stamp" or even try to make us a new banner to fit in the upper right hand corner of the guild. It can be animated.
7. Be sure your image is easily readable. Saving it as a .png instead of .jpeg or .bmp will really help reduce fuzziness.
8. You can team up with someone. If you have a good idea, but lack the artist skills, you can combine your powers with another(s). Just make sure you tell me all who was involved, so they can be credited. Granted the prize money will be split up between the parties involved.
9. Please be very careful about using art and/or images. Art theft is high among the internets and not every image you run across is for free use. Remember these are banners, not just random band-related images.
