I've come to understand that there are people (children or once-children) that have natually strong psionic powers. They are often diagnosed with things like ADD, ADHD, and autism. They are often not sociable unless with people llike them.. or not at all. Mystics and Psychics tend to pick up their aural signature right away and describe its colour as indgo, from which the phenominon gets its name.

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 6 (I'm 20 now). Conveiniently, I have come to be very interetsed in the paranormal and have always felt that there is a God, there is life elsewhere itn the Universe, and that there is by far more to this reality than meets the eye. I'm not saying I'm an Indigo, as I don't really know for sure. Has anyone ever heard of this?

I don't wish to insult anyone but a lot of child that seem to be 'Indgo Child' all seem to have the same sort of 'freak' mothers. They're kind of like stage mothers, you know pushing their child to be something amazing or to be a star when they're not really cut out for it.

Then again I've never come across someone claiming to be an Indgo Child or claiming their child is on.

It's kind of weird that I don't really believe in them as I fit in with a lot of diagnoses used to find these childs.

Having read through the wiki artical I have to say I agree with the criticism given by Russell Barkley.

I've suffered from Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) when I was younger my mum simplly cut out anything and everything with extra sugar or E-numbers in it to help me (in fact if I have some sorts of foods even now I relaps into an uncontrolable hyperactive state). I'm also very insociable and have studied the supernatural, pararnormal and occult since I could read.

Hell i was quoting Shakespears before I even knew who he was!

I'm just like everything you describe... except for the suger/caffiene-induced hyperactivity. Caffiene makes me calmer and makes me feel good more than it makes me hyper. I can drink a whole pot of coffee and then go to sleep.

I was carrying on adult conversations when I was only 7... I was reading big books and spoke with a rather large vocabulay when I probably should still have been reading Dr. Seuss. Nto to brag or anything, but I'm not sure if that has any special meaning other than just growing up to be a nerd...

I wouldn't say I was a nerd but I do agree, that it just may be the way I was raised or what I choose to do when younger.

What I mean is that if a child acted that way and they mum or dad or another adult was looking for something to make that child special it would be all to easy for them to say that these things make the child an Indigo Child. That's the main problem I have with these people that go around claiming their child is a Indigo Child.

But it's still a very interesting theory.

Indigo Children. What does this mean? Indigos are:

* Strong-willed

* Born in the mid to late 70's or later

* Headstrong

* Creative, with an artistic flair for music, jewelry-making, poetry, etc.

* Prone to addictions

* An old soul, as if you're 13 going on 43

* Intuitive or psychic, possibly with a history of seeing angels or deceased people

* An isolationist, either through aggressive acting-out, or through fragile introversion

* Independent and proud, even if you constantly ask others (i.e. your parents) for money

* In possession of a deep desire to help the world in a big way

* Wavering between low self-esteem and grandiosity

* Easily bored

* Prone to insomnia, restless sleep, nightmares, or difficulty/fear of falling asleep

* Has a history of depression, even suicidal thoughts or attempts

* Looking for real, deep, and lasting friendships

* Easily bonded with plants and animals

Indigo Children represent a special breed of individuals who have come to our planet to bestow us with their gifts. They're here to change our political, educational, nutritional, family, and other systems. They're also here to help all of us reach our potential by becoming more natural and more intuitive.

Yet there are some people who resent the change these children represent. They would like the school system to remain in its present state, and they'd like the Indigo Children to comply. Since you can't force Indigo Children to do anything, and they see coercion as a form of dishonest manipulation, drugging is being used as an insidious method of making the Indigo Child "fit in."

Indigo Children are often labeled ADD or ADHD, meaning that they either have Attention Deficit Disorder or Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity Disorder, respectively. But these children aren't disordered - the world they're trying to fit into is! It's filled with unnaturalness and dishonesty.

In our modern world, people lie to themselves and each other subsisting on processed food and dirty air. Each day, they go to jobs they hate and detach from their underlying feelings of discontentment. These children, on the other hand, aren't equipped with the ability to dissociate and lie to themselves. They're incredibly telepathic and have too much integrity to betray themselves. In a way Indigo Children are healthy role models for all of us.

Some of the most common behavioral patterns of Indigos (according to Jan Tober, co-author of THE INDIGO CHILDREN):

1) They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it).
2) They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others don't share that.
3) Self-worth is not a big issue. They often tell the parents "who they are."
4) They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
5) They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
6) They get frustrated with systems that are ritual oriented and don't require creative thought.
7) They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and at school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (nonconforming to any system).
cool They seem antisocial unless they're with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often difficult for them socially.
9) They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait until your father gets home.")
10) They aren't shy about letting you know what they need.

Please note that this was not written by me. I'm merely quoting. I hope it helps you understand Indigo Children a little better.

According to what Drisithra has posted, I could count as an Indigo Child.

Regardless of whether I or anyone else is, having all of those difficulties in the social sphere is not something I enjoy and regardless of what I'm on the Earth to do, I still need to go out and get a job.

In conclusion, I don't think it makes Indigo Children any more special than anyone else.

DONT CALL YOURSELF A NERD! evil "Nerd" and "Geek" are terms that unintelligent people use to project on intelligent and educated people their own inferiority complexes!

According to Drisithra's description of Indigo Children, I could be considered one. I only had 2 friends in elementary school. One was because he liked me more than the little blond girl who got the most valentines, and the other was a curly haired girl with ADHD who wouldnt leave me the hell alone. But I enevtually warmed up to them. Whenever they were picked on I proceeded to tear the offender to shreads. When, lets call him J, J got pushed off the slide I went and broke the arm of the kid who did it. I guess I would fit in with the agressive thing. D, the girl, never needed any help. I dont remember her ever getting picked on though, maybe it was because they were scared of her. She told me that trees could never keep a secret and that songs were a way to cast a spell. I thought it was cool that she thought that way, I liked her for it and it never seemed odd to me. Turns out he has ADD and she had ADHD.

I've always had a problem with autority. I have a bad habit of going on first impression with Authority figures. If they strike me as a mean person, then I dont like them and make no attempt to hide it. But if they seem nice then I treat them with the greatest respect and interact with them like an old friend would.

This offen confuses ppl. But after I got my "horrendous temper" under control, kids started picking on me again. It was very hard and after D left us, I transfered from that school. With a new start I was able to make a new image for myself. I couldnt stand being alone, so I acted especially nice to everyone I saw and made friends easily. As soon as I got middle school I met kids that I liked. And my old friends didnt like me anymore. I started hanging out with the most dejected looking ppl in the classroom. They liked me right off the bat and 5 outa 7 of them have ADD or ADHD. The other two have bipolar disorder as well. And one of those two has Schizophrenia as well.

I have ADHD, but I dont know what else I have exept paranoia. I dont think everyones trying to kill me but I do think that there are constantly ppl around me when I'm in an empty room. So this is me deal with it. I find it easy to interact with others but A(bipolar, ADHD, and Schizo.) says that its becuse I'm good at listening and I had to fake friendly for so long.

Oh yea! And I have insomnia. But I think thats because I dont like to be still for long. Addiction runs in my family so my mom's never let me take drugs. When I was diagnosed with ADHD they had me take a bunch of different stuff. One dialated my eyes and another made me throw up. The one they stuck me with turned me into a zombie. I dont even remember the individual days passing then.

But my mom rescued me and she wont let me take anything but cough drops now. Its weird but I dont remember most of what happened during that time period. Like I just woke up from a too long nap.

Sorry... yes.done. and I added some I forgot about before. Are you dyslexic? I am partly and it drives me crazy trying to do this. I heard that dyslexic people have something, different or wrong, with their eyes that involves seeing, extra, things. Some dyslexitc people I know can see goasts. Including my godmother Jenny.

I've never heard of that theory before but yes I am dyslexic.

When I was much younger (about 18 years ago) they did not seem to diagnosed ADHD much, but I'm pretty sure that if they did I would have been put on so many drugs I would have been a zombie. I was pretty luck that my Mum cut all extra sugar and E numbers out of my diet and that seemed to work just as well.

I definitely do believe, but I'd peg myself as more Transitional. My generation seems to be that way and act as such.

I'm glad I read this, because this kinda makes me curious. I was diagnosed with ADHD, Depression, and bi polar disorder, so I'm supposed to take 5 pills a day.
