Kari wandered along the Savannah. The sun was high in the sky, and the wind was blowing rather regularly, which made her very happy. It was a good day, after all. She hoped something interesting would happen though.

That was the problem with Kari... when happy, she had to be interested in something. Otherwise she would slip into a general laze of unhappiness. Shrugging those thoughts off, she continued to plot along.

It wasnt long before she came to rest at a smaller watering hole, which was uncommonly devoid of life. It was strange, considering it was hot out today. Shrugging it off as good luck, she bent down to drink her fill of the water.

Not too far away, a sleek, striped golden form dug into the shore of the watering hole, searching for something. Without the helpers she used to have, she was forced to collect raw material on her own, something she loathed doing save for the fact that she needed that material.

Powerful claws tore into the ground, tossing it out of the way in a spray of dirt. A disapointingly small pile of odds and ends lay nearby, little bits of things that had potential to be something greater than what it was now.

Above the straining body, wings were unfurled and spread, fanned to offer a little bit of cooling shade for the creature that owned them. They trembled and shook with her violent digging motions, stirring the still air a little around her.

After a nice cool drink, Kari began to hear scraping and scratching noises. Vaguely interested, she wandered towards the sound to see what was happening. It was probably just some prey beast digging into the sand for worms.

When she got there however, she did a double take. Not only was it not a prey beast... but it was a lioness.

With wings.

And they werent just normal wings, there were three of them. Three pairs of wings, shimmering in the morning sun.

Kari's mouth dropped open. It wasnt long before a gnawing sense of envy clawed its way into her stomache. This lionness was blessed with three seperate sets of wings, where she had her own ripped off in birth! It wasnt fair. It just wasnt.

After she had gotten over the initial shock of it, Kari started noticed what the other was doing. Digging furiously in the mud? She wondered why.

Before she could stop herself, words flew out of her mouth. "What are you doing?"

Sanaa stopped her digging, her front half in the hole she'd made, at the sound of a voice nearby. Wings thrashing, she pulled back and up, shaking wildly to clear the dirt that clung to her bright fur.

"What's that?" She called out, turning her head to find the source of the voice. Well... a pretty little mortal. She smiled as she fluffed her wings up then shut them, thinking a moment about her illusions, then decided against them. The girl had already seen her in her godly form, there was no use in hiding it from her now.

"What's your name, young one?" She called as she sat back, shaking a paw to rid it of the clumps of dirt that clung to it. She wasn't a fasticious lioness by any means, but she disliked getting so dirty... it gunked up the gears in her mechanical leg, messing with its functioning, and then she had to meticulously clean it.

Kari noted vaguely that she actually hadnt answered her question, but she shrugged it off rather quickly. Taking it as a cue that she was allowed to get closer, she trotted up until she was only a little ways away from the other. She still couldnt help but stare at the wings though. "My name is Kari. And yours?"

Thats when Kari noticed something else strange about this lioness (barring the wings, of course). She had a leg made of gold! Or perhaps it wasnt made of gold, but just cased in it. Regardless, it covered her leg from the tips of the nails to just below the shoulder. She was also covered in many different beads and jewelry. Kari had to blink a few times to regain some focus in her mind... there was just too much to look at!

The golden goddess smiled as she lifted her head, then bowed it.

"My name is Sanaa, young one." She said, curling her tail around herself. She looked over her new companion-for-the-moment. Mortals never ceased to amaze her with how very different they could all be... but then, gods did tend to be unique as well, but there was still a sort of sameness about them. This girl... the markings on her looked so much like wings, it was incredible. How did one come to bare such markings?

She smiled as she tilted her head gently. "What brings you here?" She murmured. "I was just digging for material, but I doubt that's why you are here."

Kari inclined her head to the goddess. "Please to meet you, wind-walker." She'd heard the gods called this before, and the term had always stuck with her.

She shook her head no at the goddess's inquiry about her purpose. "I was just following were my feet take me, and stopped to take a drink." The bird colored lioness tilted her head to the side at the goddess's mention of materials. "Why do you need material?"

Sanaa tilted her head at the name given to her by the young lioness, her ears pricking forward. She'd never heard that term before, but it seemed apt enough. When she flew, it was much like she walked on the wind.

"Why? Well, it is my purpose to create things. To make things from other things in new and wonderful combinations." She smiled as she leaned forward a little, adding weight to her words. "But, in order to make things, I need other things, or materials, to work with. Anything can be material, from shells to wood to stone." Lecture mode was Sanaa's second favorite thing, next to doing the actual work. She lifted to make things and to spread the knowledge of how to make them. If Kari was willing to listen, the goddess would fill her head with all sorts of information she had never dreamed of.

"Today, for example, I'm digging to see what has become trapped in the layers of muck and mud. I've found wood, bones, and shells so far, but there is no telling what else I might find that might be useful."

Kari was truly interested at this point. Make things? The brown lioness didnt know what to think of the goddesses answer. She'd seen the two-leggers make things, from a distance of course, but it had always been interesting. She seemed so passionate about her craft however, and thats what was really interesting. She wondered if all of the gods were that focused on their domains.

"That sounds interesting. What sort of things do you make?" She looked down at the things collected, and couldnt make much of them. What could you make of bones and shells?

A chuckle drifted from the goddess as she abandoned her hole and paced past Kari to the water, taking the time to wash the mud off her paws. She turned back at the question, fluffing up her wings as she opened them a little.

"What sorts of things? Well, all sorts! Everything I'm wearing, I've made. Adornments, jewelry, symbolic decorations... but also armour, weapons, tools. Things that improve life!" She grinned as she spoke, obviously passionate about her work. "Anything you can imagine and more. I have only to find a purpose and I can make something to fill it. Its my purpose in life, my reason for existing."

She came back to Kari and the pile of found objects, scattering them carefully with her paw to see what she'd come up with so far. Plucking a rather perfect and pretty little shell, she offered this to Kari's eyes. "This one would make a lovely earing, or the pendant on a necklace, and bring joy to whoever wore it and looked up on it." She said softly.

Well, now that the lioness had mentioned it, Kari was rather mesmorized by the amount of jewelry and other strange things that adorned the goddess. Brightly colored beads, jewels and shells were strung along her neck and legs. She wore a large gem on her forehead, and her wings were not bare of adornment either.

What was strangest, however, is that one of her paws was entirely encased in gold. It still moved and worked, but it was like the leg of a statue, really. "I see." Bringing her focus back to the object at hand, Kari studied the small shell. It was white with little stripes on it, and now that she really looked, it would make a good piece of jewelry. "Your right, it would look really nice on a piece of jewelry. I guess I never really thought of it before."

Sanaa chuckled again as she drew back and dropped the shell into the pouch that hung around her neck. Picking through her little collection of shells and things, she began to drop them into the pouch to store them.

The strange thing about it, though... despite how many things she put in the bag, it never seemed to look like it was getting fuller and it never filled up. The entire pile went into the much smaller bag, till there was only a few broken pieces left in the mud. Sanaa patted the bag in satisfaction, pleased as ever with that particular item.

"That's why I'm the goddess of Crafting and you are not." Sanaa laughed as she put away her collection. "I wouldn't be much of a Goddess, otherwise. My entire existance is based on that."

Kari also noticed the strangeness of the bag. While she knew that the goddess hadnt put very many items in the bag, there was enough that it should have showed in some way. How useful it must be to have magic.

The brown lioness wondered if there was any way she could do magic without being a goddess. It was her luck though that it wouldnt be possible, so it was probably best not to get her hopes up. She sighed.

"Are all gods embodiments of domains?" Kari had heard plenty of rumors and most likely wive's tales about gods, but now that she was talking to one, she wasnt going to pass up the opportunity to ask.

The Goddess fiddled with the closure on the bag, re-arranging her necklaces around it. She debated how much to tell... what to share and what not to. Her brother and sister gods might not like her blabbing, but really, what was the harm? Hell, it might even be to her benefit to convert this girl to a believer. At the very least, it would extend her own domain and add that little bit to her power.

"Every god in existance rules over a particular thing. Be it rain, hope, love, snow, prey beasts... Every one of them has something particular to them and special powers that goes with it. Just as I can not make it rain, or make the sun shine, no one else can do what I do with the items I make." She said in smug satisfaction. She was proud of that fact, of being the only one who could do what she did. It gave her a feeling of accomplishment, even though she usually felt she couldn't do enough, always striving for more.

"I take it you haven't met many gods, or you would know it already."

"No, I have unfortunately met many gods, though I would like to meet more now that I've met you." It seemed as if gods would never cease to be fascinating for Kari. Her fascination before had been fed by stories, legends and rumors. Now, however, her mind was filled with wonder at meeting the actual thing.

"It is very interesting though, that all have different powers and skills." Even though Kari really wanted to be polite, a question had been burning in the back of her brain since she'd seen Sanaa. The brown lioness had asked a few birds the same question, but they never could answer it well enough to meet her standards. "Whats it like to fly?"
