Invited: Those Painters that have joined Qehj
Setting: Night, the border between the Scrub Forest and Forest of Sleep

At first glance the clearing was not a particularly impressive place, merely a gap in the thickening forest’s trees. The sky was dark and the night quiet, casting a false sense of serenity. In truth this gap was not a place most would go for idle chitchat, it being located within the fringes of the infamous Forest of Sleep. It was for that exact that the Painter known as Grendel chose that spot.

Even though his den mate Sayuri had decided to avoid the imminent conflict, he knew that many had chosen to ban together and attempt to fight Qehj. Being the logical creature that he was, Grendel had sided with Qehj, finding the odds to be leaning in that side’s favor. However, he did not to blindly leap into battle, hence why he was attempting to gather the Painters from Qehj’s side: he wanted to know which Painters would cover his back in battle and which would just assume stab it.

Spotting the clearing below, Kyuran slowly began to descend towards the earth. It was a spot where they were they would most likely be able to meet without being disturbed, so he could understand why they were asked to gather in such a place. Landing onto the ground lightly, he glanced about to see if any of the others were there just yet.

Not too far from where he had touched down was the one who called for the meeting. So with a small bow of acknowledgment, he stepped a little closer while still keeping an eye out for any other Painters that may be around.

"Quiet night..." he murmured to himself.

Nashwa had heard of Grendel's gathering and elected to go see what the thing was about. The only other den mate she had was a human and he had elected to stay behind. She had flown most of the way and elected to finish the rest of the trip on foot. It wasn't a terribly hard journey. She hadn't been bother or stopped by any goodie-goodies so she was in a fairly good mood.

Nash could see the clearing ahead. Her wings were folded loosely on her back and her gait was confident and easy. The slate gray female broke the treeline and entered the clearing. She recognized Kyuran and Grendel, so she knew that she was in the right place. "Good evening, fellas. I'm glad to have finally found the place. I thought I might've gotten myself lost there for a bit."

Grendel could contrive no properly scathing retort to what either of the dragons said, and decided instead to stay silent for some time. Thus far he was not overly impressed with the other two Painters, but they had yet to say anything completely moronic, so he supposed that he could tolerate them; for now.

Twitching his tail, he arched his neck and scanned the skies. Seeing no other incoming Painters – a vague disappointment if he admitted it to himself – he decided he just assume start the “meeting.”

“ Well, I guess you two know why we’re here. Seeing as how Qehj would prefer we refrain from needless chatter, I thought it best to go elsewhere to… get to know each other. I’m Grendel.” He hadn’t prepared a speech, so while most people would probably go one talking, he was done for the moment.

As a third painter came into view, Kyuran nodded to the female while wondering if anyone else would show up. Since she had mentioned she had some trouble finding this spot, he thought it could be possible that a few more were on their way but were lost out somewhere nearby. Too bad for them if that were the case.

Then as the one known as Grendel introduced himself, the dark painter nodded lightly before speaking.

"Which isn't a bad idea, seeing how we'll all be working with one another. And I am Kyuran."

Nashwa moved to sit roughly an equal distance between the two males and a little further back so she could look at them when she spoke to them and to be able to look at which ever male would speak directly to her. She made herself comfortable, curling her tail lazily behind her. She nodded as each of the males said what they had to say.

"Fair enough. I'm Nashwa, or Nash, if you prefer it. I agree. We ought to get to know who we will be fighting along side. Now, either of you boys care to share, or do you want me to start things off?"

The slate gray female shifted her glowing feral gaze from Grendel to Kyuran and back. It may be a small gathering thus far, but she was going to enjoy herself.

Seeing as how Grendel was not fond of the idea of discussing anything more personal then the weather, even if it was for a good reason, he was reluctant to be the first to speak. When Nashwa offered to speak first his anxiety – no, he would never admit to being anxious – eased slightly and he nodded towards her.

“ Well, since you have essentially volunteered…”

Zin'carla arrived. Late as usual. She grumbled in her mind, taking care not to expose herself. But it was a lucky break since she hadn't missed anything.

She unfurled her wings, and then tucked them back in. The floor was open and it was a good time as any to make an impression.

"I, am Zin'carla," She started as her eyes rolled back into her head and closed, "Praise those who have found the right ways and follow the path of greatness! We will all bow before Qehj the Mighty, Harbringer of Darkness." When Zin'carla opened her eyes back up she found that she had bowed low, her belly and head nearly touching the ground.

No one will rival his power, and we will all scrape and scratch our ways to the top, no doubt, she thought.

"Feel free to begin."

Nodding to Nashwa, Kyuran glanced about as he heard something approach. He looked over to the side to see another female come into view. The dark Painter bowed his head down lightly to greet the newcomer, who seemed to be very enthusiastic about being one of Qehj's underlings. But then again, it was hard not to be with all the power and knowledge they can gain.

"Welcome Zin'carla..." he said softly, "Right now we're merely introducing ourselves and getting to know one another."

A barely percieveably nod came to Kyuran. Naturally she wouldn't be the one to reveal her secrets first. Zin'carla made her way closer to the group, noting the others. Surely there were more than the ones before her. Wasn't there? She didn't really remember much in the cavern where she had met and had her mind enveloped by the great being that which was Qehj.

Bah, details. She waited for the others to resume.

Nashwa nodded her to Zin'carla when she arrived, then returned her attention to Grendel. "Alright, Grendel. I will begin things." She cleared her throat and took a deep breath. "My name is Nashwa, or Nash for short, for those who are just joining us." She briefly angled her head towards the enthusiastic female. "I live alone in a series of cliffside caverns some ways from here. A human has taken to living with me, though. He is useful on occasion and can be entertain when the mood strikes him. I'm the only surviving child of my parents. I have loved before, but he is dead and I no longer care for the time I lost on him." A bit of a lie, but it was true for the most part. Nash had moved on and was open to be courted again. "I have dedicated myself to this path and will stand along side those who share it. If anyone of you need me, just call to my mind. It shall be open to hear you. Now, is there anything else about me that might tickle your fancy to know? If so, just ask. Otherwise, someone else may speak."

“ No questions come to my mind just yet.” Grendel murmured, still somewhat distracted by the rather zealous female that had just arrived. Not being of a particularly expressive nature – or so his human said – Grendel could only just muster the will to nod his head in thanks to Nashwa for speaking.

“ Myself? I have collected a human female, puny and eccentric that goes by the dubbance of “Holy.” She, my den mate Sayuri, and I dwell in a collection of caves near the Falls. I have no family of which to speak.”

The first half-lie slid easily from betwixt his teeth. He had been forced to fend for himself for many years, Holy finding him injured just a year shy of being an adult. She nursed him back to health, so although he had no blood kin, he was rather fond of “his” little human.

“ I am realistic and joined the side I believed would be victorious. How can a fairy-man compete with he whom speaks in our minds?”

This last part was added more for his own health then anything, knowing well enough that those gathered here may posses the ability to read beneath what he was saying. Despite the possible trouble he may have just brought down upon himself, his stance remained unchanged and he watched the others with an unwavering stare; let them say what they would.

As Nashwa began, Kyuran nodded lightly in acknowledgment before looking over at the next speaker. Between the two, there wasn't anything highly particularly interesting about what they had said, though it seemed that he may be the only one without some sort of human hanging around the den. However, the last thing Grendel had said caught his attention somewhat more.

I wonder... if things were not to bode well for us if he would defect towards the others... he thought to himself before shaking his head.

"Very well then. As for myself, I live alone in a maze-like cavern. I came to this side out of curiosity. I wanted to know what the darkness would bring me, and I am very pleased with how things have gone so far... yet I can't help but crave even more."

Zin'carla hissed softly, in her intake of breath as she listened. She weighed the thoughts of revealing her 'family' and the reactions, how much information that she would give.

"Only the strongest are attracted to the darkness to serve. And to gain power. That is why I embrace it and for meeting Qehj," She shivered as her eyes rolled in up. She seemed to be savoring something that she was thinking.

Oh great master! To be your acolyte is divine blessing.

Beginning again, "I live in a cave, in which was already occupied. Simpering human and sandpaint, of dirt color had taken the place which I scouted and left my marks." She seemed angry, at them but really it was her weakness of letting them stay in her beautifully gem studded cavern complex.

"But I suppose... One can not own a large place by oneself. Keh, they seem to wing away to Ki-something's camp. I plan to follow one day, to see the enemy and figure out what is going on. They don't realize my true nature."

The laugh that was emitted could raise the hair on the back of the neck, if sandpaints had any. Certainly Ginger, the human spoke of: would have reconsidered staying at the cave if she heard Zin'carla.
