Mia had agreed to meet Kubwa so they could talk again, and so perhaps he could show her how to climb. She was exicted and nerves were churning her stomach. She hadn't met anyone like him, and hoped that she wouldn't scare him off or upset him or anything, as he'd hinted at having bad experiences with males. She paced gently as she reached the spot they agreed to meet at and counted under her breath. "One, two, three, four.." Soft maroon eyes watched the horizon.

The pale lion was excited for the second meeting with Mia, she made him feel intelligent, thrilled, and happy to be around a female for the first time in sometime. It seemed his luck had changed and he had found what could be a very good friend. He did not have many of those and he needed one or two. It was a rather blusterous day and his mane whipped back and forth as he crept up behind Mia, able to hear her counting. Oh, how numbers had taken on a new meaning to him! They did not seem like just another tool but a pass time.

"Seems like an awefully windy day for climbing!" He exclaimed happily, a large grin spread across his maw. He had, had her meet at a very goof climbing spot, a large pile of rocks big and small mounted together near the outskirts of the lands, not too far from where they originally met. "I was afraid you wouldn't be here."

"Ahh!" She jumped slightly but a smile formed on her maw as she recognised the voice and the white form. Climbing! Excitement coursed through her as she remembered, then apprehension, what if she'd be really bad? Ah well, it was an oppertunity to recognise Kubwas skills and praise the friendly male.

"Yes, it is rather windy" She agreed, fortunately, she had nothing to get in her way, but watched as parts of Kubwas mane floated over his shoulders and were whipped by the wind. "I was afraid you wouldn't come." She admitted, marroon eyes nervous.

"Well, here we both are," he was a grinning fool today! It wasn't often that he saw a female more than once, they usually get what they want and leave him. She was worried he wouldn't come too? That means she wanted him hear today? How exciting, and intriguing? The thoughts that she could possibly be using him didn't even enter his mind, she seemed sincere.

"Since it's so windy, we'll need to be careful, do you still want to climb?" He edged towards her, his brown eyes flicking back and forth searching her expression to see if she was truly happy to be near him. Not seeing anything wrong or out of place his grin grew wider hidden slightly by his whipping mane.

"It wont be too dangerous, I promise?" he offered halfheartedly.

The male also looked happy and she gave him a warm smile. It wasnt often she socialised with one of her own age that wasnt family, yet alone a male. She found this male to be friendly and kind and enjoyed his prescence. She hoped climbing wouldn't be dangerous and looked to the male for comfort, and found it in his smile and nodded. He seemed easy to trust "Okay, I trust you!"

"So climbing rocks is a little easier than climbing a tree, rocks have a slope, it's not as hard as it looks, like walking up him! But, if there were a tree you would need your claws to dig into the bark." he paused catching his breath in his excitement to express himself, "The goal is to get to the top and feel with wind in your fur and feel like your flying, at least for me anyways."

He stepped towards the pile his face against the wind so it would blow the fur out of his eyes and climbed up a tier of rocks, finding a landing he stopped and waited for her to follow. "It is quite simple, not worth showing someone," he allowed his blush to creep through and he turned towards her hoping she didn't see it, "the tricky part is finding rocks that wont slide beneath your weight."

"I see" She looked rather cublike as her intent face tried to process this information. She nodded. Kubwa looked very expressive when he was describing his hobby and Mia thought it was rather sweet. "I understand." She hoped she wouldn't make a fool of herself, especially when he said it was so simple. The lioness wasn't too heavy, and being female Kubwa was heavier, so she climbed the rocks swiftly but with an uneasy smile. Hm. This would be okay. But trees? The female looked sweetly apprehensive, but still eager to learn.

Kubwa nodded and bobbed his head in the odd fashion his mother always did, if he caught himself doing it he would stop abruptly but it was a habit he picked up from her.

"Haha, see there you go!" He made a whooping sound to show excitement and to cheer her on. He shifted his weight on the ledge and continued up the mound of rocks looking down so he would not drop anything on her head, he would beat him self up if he did such a thing.

"I taught my best friend to climb, and a little girl I came across, she was very sweet." Together it would seem the could start a climbing and math school, a silly idea of course.

She felt better with his encouragement, infact she felt better with his presence and smiled gently. She followed him up the mound of rocks, treading carefully as she went. "I think that's really nice." Apparently, they both shared a love of teaching, her, numbers and knowlege, and him, climbing and the more physical aspect of things. Mia watched his white figure fondly, she loved making friends.

"I must say I was so happy to meet you, I needed someone to show me that not all females caused pain and suffering," physical and emotional. He spoke as he climbed to the highest point that was still safe to stand on. He stood on a large flat rock, large enough for two if him, so large enough that she could sit up there with him. It was not a large mound by any means, tall enough to give them a bit of a bird's eye view, but it had nothing on the great pride's rock or on some of the taller trees that stood near the south end of the lands.

He waited for her to comment on his statement as well as on the view, because to him it was breath taking, the need to be high and close to where birds flew and touched the sun and stars was very strong for him a constant pull to be apart of something else. He thought once that it was because he was the spitting image of a long dead uncle and that somehow by being so high up he was feeling Uncle Dawa's soul trying to communicate. That was when he was much younger and thought it was possible to speak with the dead, he concluded that he had no power to do so, so he might as well stop trying.

She was touched by his statement, and for a moment didn't know what to say. Her soft eyes followed his form until she reached the peak and sat close to him on the flat rock. The view was beautiful, and with the wind in her face she felt truly, well, alive. It sounded silly but it was an amazing feeling. A few moments passed by until her gentle voice was heard. "Thankyou, Kubwa, I was happy to meet you too.." She paused for a second. "I wouldn't hurt you." The wind rustled in the dry savannah grass, and the sun shone through the sky, breaking through the wispy few clouds to rest upon the lionesses pelt. Inhaling deeply, she smiled. "This is beautiful."

"Like flying without wings," he murmured to her and readjusted his position, his leg pressed against her side for a moment sending a quick blush through his body and to his pale face. He looked away and pulled his body suddenly away from her as well.

"I know you wouldn't hurt me, it's silly to say, but we shared something special, we shared our interests, that is special to me." he answered his eyes scanning the beautiful view and avoiding hers, the wind whipped his mane away from his face and the blush deepened, sure that she would see he was embarrassed by touching her without her permission.

"I agree" She blushed underneath her dark brown pelt and smiled at the embarassed Kubwa. Acting like she hadn't noticed, she continued speaking.

"I too, believe that sharing your interests is a very special thing to do." Mia laughed quietly. "I thought you'd find me really silly, or something." Her eyes rested upon his face for a moment, before turning to the view. It was amazing. The view of her home, the place she was proud to call home.

She felt odd at this moment, alive, and slightly euphoric. She didn't even need to count, she felt at ease, she wondered whether it was the view, or the fact that Kubwa was here, maybe both? Inhaling quickly she moved her body closer to his, and rested her head gentle on his shoulder. The nervous lioness did so ever so carefully, so as not to upset him.

She hoped her action would not make him jump or upset him or anything, but she felt like they already shared something special, she felt so content and happy here.

He nodded as she spoke understanding her apprehension at telling her her hobby, he felt exactly the same, but neither found the other's hobby silly or dumb so they obviously had a mutual respect.

At her leaning on him he thought his face would burn off it felt so warm as if it was melting in the sun. Slowly he leaned into her hoping that was alright, glancing at her his brown eyes full of wonder. Was this what if felt like to know someone on a different level? Not a fling, not a girl who will disappear but someone new, someone who will stay.

And so they sat. Mia immersed in wonder at the emotions that were taking ahold of her. Sitting aside Kubwa, she felt blissfully happy. 'Zeki would be proud that she'd managed to make a friend, and that she'd managed to be social, and that by some strange miracle, this friend happened to be male, and her age, and sweet. Her maroon eyes looked into his brown eyes and she looked equally full of wonder. This was new, and definately unexpected.
