Is there anyone else here who has read Mercedes Lackey? She is one of my favorite authors. I love her Valdemar series. I have also read her Bardic Voices series, SERRAted Edge series, and her Bedlam's Bard series. Has anyone read any of these? What about other books of her's? If you have tell me and which one is you favorite. My favorite book of her's is The Black Gryphon. (Now you know where I got the username. he he.)

She has really classic feel to her writing, its the kind of tales you could envision being told around travel fires....though to be honest, I havent read anything from her in a while

I own all of the Bedlam's Bard series, All but one of the Valdemar series, 1 of its anthologies, and the compaion. Also I love the Bardic Voices series. The Lark and The Wren was the first book my mom let me read from her adult Sci-fi/fantasy collection, and so began the rest of my life (lol)

An ex got me into Mercedes Lackey and I've always adored her writing since. Although the series she wrote with her husband I could not get into to save my life. The Owl series. I think it was the mix of her and her husband that killed it for me. The style was so boring...

I've only been able to find and read the first 3 of the Bardi Voices and like them, but couldn't get into the second of the Bedlam Bard series. The Elemental Masters series is not to bad either.

Read her Valdemar series and loved it. Everything from the Black Gryphon to the Winds Trilogy. Bonus: all the books were found at a used bookstore ^.^ She's a sophisticated writer with vibrant, believable, and lovable characters. Her antagonists are wonderfully portrayed as well.

Have you read any of her songs that she puts in the back of some of them? I love the ones about Tarma and Kethry, especially "Threes" that has a whole short story about it.

Suzuka-dono Hrm, I suppose I should get reading Lackey's books then, eh? Anyone recommend a good first read? I suggest you read The Lark and the Wren book one of the Bardic Voices series. Its what got me started on her and I think it and the rest of that series are the best way to get into the writing style of Mercedes Lackey.
