((Brain-dead title inspiration. XP))  Nova huddled against a tree, shivering in the wet snowy forest. She kept on asking herself why she decided to venture out on this chilly day. Probably for the same reason she wandered around everyday. Because sitting around doing nothing was boring.
Yet, isn't that she's doing right now? Nova told herself that moving around would make her warmer, but her feet seemed frozen to the icy ground.
Oh well. She just sighed and huddled closer against the tree.

 Haru walked along gaily in the snow, happy for once that he wasn't swelteringly hot. He actually preferred the cold wind to a warm summer day, though fall and spring were his favorite seasons. He looked out in the distance to see where exactly it was he was headed to. He had started off just wanting to take a stroll through the gently falling flakes. Frowning, he wondered what the bright spot of red was near the edge of the forest. he would have missed it If he hadn't been staring in that direction, studying from a distance. 'I guess I'll find out what it is.' He thought to himself. He changed his slow saunter into a gentle lope and headed towards the bright spot.

Nova perked up at the sound of feet crushing snow. She saw another Ulaya in the distance, wearing clothes? And a hairdo?
She blinked, thinking that the cold was playing tricks on her. But he was still there, galloping around happily.
Nova forced herself to get up, away from the tree, and meet him first. She shook the snow that gathered on her back and walked towards whoever he was. Even though the ice stung her paw pads, she was determined not to let him see that she was being beaten the winter.
"Hello?"

As Haru got closer to the colorful dot, he realized that it was a Ulaya. What she was doing out in the cold like this he had no idea. I thought I was the only one who liked being out in weather like this. He mused. Faintly he heard something... "Hello?" Her voice was almost lost in the wind. Haru smiled. "Hello there! Are you alright?" He called out to her. While he waited for her answer, he easily closed the distance between them, pausing about 5 feet from the flashy female.

Now that he was closer, Nova could confirm that he was indeed a funny looking fellow. Honestly, who needed all that clothing when they had fur? And maybe that was the reason he was happy in the snow and she wasn't.
"I'm fine! Other than freezing feet." She didn't dare to say the last part louder than a whisper. She closed the gap between them, almost wanting to snuggle with him. He looked really warm, almost like a plushie.
"Whatcha doing out here?"

"Oh? I was just enjoying the weather; I like to go for frolics in the snow. I'm Haru, by the way." He flashed his teeth at her in an amused smile.
The gentleman in him couldn't let the softly spoken words go unnoticed. "Cold feet huh? Would you like to use my gloves? They'll at least keep the front ones warm." Before she could give him an answer, he started to pull the red and white gloves from his paws by his teeth.

Nova laughed nervously, staring at the gloves that Haru was pulling off. "I'm Nova. I usually enjoy being outside but it's just too darn cold for me!"
She stared down at her own paws, wondering if those things would fit her. His paws were bigger after all.
"But wouldn't you get cold? You can keep them."

He chuckled at her. "I won't take no for an answer." Was all he said as he tossed her the gloves. Even if his paws did get a little cold, the rest of him was warm, and he thought it was just a small gesture of kindness towards her.
Smiling at the female, he said, "It's a pleasure to meet you Nova." He looked up at the sky to see about what time of day it was, but the sun was so well hidden behind clouds that it was nigh impossible to do so. He did get a reminder from his stomach though, in the form of a hungry gurgle.

Nova carefully put on the gloves, wiggling her paws a bit. They were loose, but warm and cozy. She was starting to feel her paws again already.
"Oh wow. Thanks." She stared at them a bit in awe, and back at Haru. "I... don't have anything to give you. Except if you're hungry..." She noticed his stomach growling. "I know a place where berries stay fresh all year round. Even in the winter."

Smiling, he was glad that she knew someplace where they could find food. "That would be wonderful; I actually am very hungry. Do we have far to travel?" He asked. He stood up in anticipation and looked around as if he could see the berry patch from where he stood.

"Well... yes. It's a bit of travelling." Nova admitted. At least with Haru's gloves, her feet would be up for it.
Turning to a random direction, she beckoned him to follow by wagging her tail and nodding. "It's this way. Be warned though that it gets a lot thicker towards the center of the forest."
Smiling for the first time today, she skipped off before Haru could react.

He watched her for a second before realizing that he should be moving. He trotted a bit to catch up to her, as well as he could in the snow. "So, where were you off to on a day like this?" He asked, to make conversation.

Nova pawed the snow a bit, glancing around at the empty forest. "Well, no where in particular. I just like being outside instead of cooped up in a cave all day. I guess I'm a free spirit."
Shrugging, she continued forward, pausing every now and then to view the scenary. "Watch your step here, there's a root hidden by snow." She pointed to a lump on the ground as she jumped over it.
"Though, I don't know why I'm out on such a cold day. It was actually warmer earlier today."

Listening to her words, he was excited to find that she felt so easy to talk to. "I think I'm the same way when it comes to being indoors. I would rather be outside no matter what the weather." He hadn't been paying attention to where he was placing his feet, and he found himself suddenly sprawled on the ground in the snow. He picked himself up quickly, as if he could hide the fact that he had been so clumsy, and trot a little faster to catch up again. "Uh, so you live in a cave?" He asked, trying to recover himself.

Nova tried not to laugh as Haru tripped over the root she warned him of. Instead, she just gave him an amused look and continued heading towards the berry patch.
"Uh... yeah. Where else? I don't think I would've been comfortable in a human home, and well, I have to have a roof over my head sometime. There's a bunch of other Ulaya living with me too.
Where do you live?"
She quickened her footing a bit, recgonizing the area around her. They were close to the promised food, and not a moment too soon.
