The sun rose over the Pridelands with the same splendor as it usually did, a blazing disk of orange on a red horizon. Tufah loved the sight as it bathed her beloved homelands with golden light - and from her den, in the distance, she could see her families kingdom too. The termite mounds and towers were so far away but in the morning they were gilded and easily visible. It put her in a good mood.

Besides that it was the perfect time for her to look good too. The red-gold light set off her rusty Taka-coloured fur and ruby eyes. She knew some for her more pointed than your average Pridelander look less than ideal, but when the whole world seemed to be conspiring in your favour, ha!

So of course, in a good mood and feeing gorgeous, there was on one lion she felt like going to see. Simi. So she'd fine his den and try to get his attention for a while. After all, she deserved it.

Simi's eyes sleepily blinked at the dawn light. Just why had he waken up so early, he really didn't know. His romps at night had slowly begun to not be so fun, though, and he had been going to sleep earlier. But that didn't mean that he was actually sleeping any better.

He stretched in front of the den, trying to loosen up his muscles a bit before we would wander down towards the normal gathering area. His brown eyes scanned the areas below, seeing that there were indeed some already up and about, but not too many. Hmph. Not really anyone he recognized as a close friend, either. He could go down there to socialize, but he didn't see much of the point.

With a grunt, he sat himself down where he was, deciding that he'd wait for the sun to rise a bit more, and then he'd make himself feel busy. He glanced back at his family's den, to see if anyone was stirring. How much longer should he stay here, calling it his den as well as his family's? He wasn't sure.

It took a while for Tufah to reach her destination. Her den was 'round the other side and a good walk away. More privacy from the general hubbub and foolery of the Pridelands. Stil, nothing dampened her spirits even as she reached the gathering area and had to weave her way around other lions.

Mmm, she thought as she looked his way, and there he was now. How someone so delicious was so naive and innocent - in her view anyway - was completely beyond Tufah. Compared to Tahka or Sara or herself he hadn't a bad bone in his body. She smiled wickedly before schooling her features into something nicer. Then she made her way towards the cave Simi and his family called home.

"Good morning, Simi."

Simi had caught a glimpse of what sort of looked like Tufah, but it was hard to tell with the lions that were mulling around. Though it seemed that the typical Pridelander colour was changing, there were still enough brown, red, and gold lions that it was hard to tell them apart unless you knew what you were looking for.

So he wasn't startled when he heard Tufah's voice, but he was pleasently surprised. He let his face light up, if only a bit, and offer Tufah a nod. "Tufah," he said, pulling himself back up on all fours. He supressed the urge to take another step to her, though. He needed to be polite. "What a great surprise this morning," he said softy, smiling, doing his best to not let anything slip. "You look...great this morning."

"Thanks! Hadn't noticed." She said coyly, with a picture-perfect demure smile. Good Simi. That's my boy. Though using the word 'beautiful' would have got you bonus points.

"I thought I'd drop by and see how you are..." She trailed off, gesturing with a paw he was obviously fine. Then Tufah let herself take a step forward, closing the gap just a fraction. Tempting. Don't friends 'hug', hm? Close friends. Aren't we growing closer? After all this effort on my part we better be!

" - And if you wanted to spend some time together again. It looks like it'll be a beautiful day today."

"Together?" he echoed. On the surface, he was calm, letting a smile grace his mouth as he was pleased to hear that. Inside? He was freaking out, though more out of joy than anything. Tufah wanted to spend the day with him? Awesome!

"That sounds like a good idea," he said, with a bit more of force as he himself took a step forward towards Tufah. He was pretty damn happy at the moment. He was slowly growing up, better able to compose himself, though there was still a piece of him that was mighty excited about spending time with the pretty Tufah.

"Did you have any ideas of where to go?" He didn't, so maybe she did since she suggested it? Well, this would certainly cure his boredom he thought he'd have for the day.

"Mmmhmm." She hummed an affirmative. Well, actually she hadn't but Tufah was a quick thinker. She'd not planned beyond getting some attention and some time. But there was always the old failsafes. Bit dull maybe but she'd work something out that was more interesting as they went if needs be.

"If you fancied a swim, I know a good place just a little ways out of the lands. Or maybe we could just take a walk together and we can see what we can see."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 04, 2008 3:43 pm

Ooh. Well, it was good that she thought of a place. His idea of a good place wasn't quite the same as hers, but he still enjoyed wherever they seemed to be, together.

"A swim? That sounds like a great idea!" he replied, a little strong-heartedly. He offered her another quick bow. "I'll follow, if you lead the way." He wasn't sure just where they were going to go, so it was smart to let her lead. Plus they could always pass some small conversation as they were making their way to wherever they were going. He stepped up to her side, his brown eyes peeking a glance at her eyes before he looked outwards, to where they might be going.

Fine, if you wont make friendly contact, I will! It was both annoying when he didn't fall head over tail for her charms like some rogues she'd known and also intriguing.

"So formal." She chuckled, then turned slight to pressed her forehead against his shoulder affectionately after he bowed and fell into rank and file beside her. To her absolute horror, later on she'd realise it had been with real tenderness for she was growing fond of the object of her manipulations. A c***k in her armor.

"I haven't been for a swim for such a long time. Should be fun."Then as if it was nothing she started to lead the way at a casual pace. No need to rush. Not like the water was going anywhere!

"Uh." Simi's face still stuck out a bit, because he really didn't want to let her see him flush. Again. How did she do that? He really didn't understand it, how or why. Maybe someday he would figure it out on his own. Hopefully no one would have to tell him to his face, even though it was something that could happen. Some could say he was pretty dense.

But shouldn't he be formal to her? He did need to be a good example...plus she was a girl. No, she was turning into a woman, a lioness.

He shook his head, feeling his cheeks return to their normal temperature. He turned back to her, a smile on his face still. He matched her pace, nodding at her comment. "I'll have to agree, I haven't been able to swim in... a long time." He knew how to swim, but he wasn't the strongest swimmer.

"Time to fix that!"

"One of the last times I can remember going for a swim was with Haiba and Mat. Having a splash filled playfight in one of the smaller water holes. Oh, I was maybe half grown then...far too long ago." She mused, the fond memories of a good time with her siblings giving her expression warmth that'd previously only been shown to family members. But then she grinned and picked up the pace with her usual acted flair. Maybe the water wouldn't move, but oh, it'd be fun. Better be.

Simi laughed, trying to imagine Tufah splashing around like a cub. Sure, he had met her when they were both still pretty young, but he didn't pay too much attention to anything but his exploring when he was a kid, and so he was still having a little trouble trying to imagine the Tufah of now splashing as a younger cub. Weird.

He gave a quick shake to his head to get rid of the memory, but only then did he notice that Tufah had picked up her pace! She trotted off after her, feeling something that felt like a slight bump to her shoulder. Oops, maybe he was a bit too close to her...but it was hard to just suddenly shift to the side when you were walking at a pace faster than a walk, and still not make it obvious. Hopefully...hopefully she wouldn't mind.

She shouldered him right back, offering a mischevious smile. Something had got to her this morning. Tufah was breaking her rules about the right way to charm her prince-ling. She wasn't even acting sly. She was, oddly, having fun and didn't really care. The Pridelands were beautiful, she felt beautiful and they were going for a swim. Sod it.

Later she'd really really kick herself. For now however she just led them towards where the gorge turned into rocky terrain and there were some springs and pools that bubbled out of the rock.

Simi's smile grew, and he couldn't even tell just how large it was at this point. He told himself it was because he was going out for a swim, finally able to just leave everything behind for a little while and only think about himself. But in all actuality, the reason that he was so happy was because Tufah seemed to have a little extra kick in her step, a little bit of a shine in her eye. Hopefully he was just imagining it all, once he realized it.

His brown eyes soon caught sight of where Tufah was leading them too. It was a bit more secluded than he had assumed, but her certainly wasn't going to complain. It still looked cool and quiet, a needed relief from the madness that the Pridelands produced every day. It couldn't be helped when hundrends of lions lived there, though!

"There. Our own little pool and no one else to bother us."

She purred, casting him a sidelong glance before padding down to the edge of the water. Noyana and herself had once explored all through the gorge after they'd found what turned out to be logs washed down into it after the rainy season. It'd formed a natural dam, but only a puddle remained when they found it. Here though all year round there was a pool thanks to the spring, and the rainy season only topped it up. Cool, clear and with no chance of crocodiles. Secluded, private and with no chance of annoying lions jumping in. Perfect.

Tufah plunged right in and half-laughed half-growled at the cold. Still, she'd soon get used to it and it sent up a dazzling spray, the water catching the sun.
