Not really, that's Saturday for me.
I'm supposed to be writing essays right now but Ocean asked in IRC and this was brought up in my bra thread. (Am I clothing obsessed? Hardly.)
Just a bit of what I do and what works for others.
Or we can start learning how to do laundry properly with the help of other people in the guild.

* Cold/cold (cold) for darks. It keeps the color from fading. It's also for delicates. (Use some protection for delicates though, a ball or bag.)
* Warm/cold (warm) is said to be better for jeans, but I prefer to put them on cold. But this cycle can clean better than cold and doesn't wear them down as much as hot. Lights could go here but can also get put into hot.
* Hot/cold (hot) generally for whites. Hotter temperatures are good for removing stains but can cause shrinking and fading. Lights could go here but can also get put into warm.

* Bleaching whites every so often is a good idea. Some say once weekly, but not everyone really even bleaches. (Heck, I only DO my laundry once a week except in special cases.)
* Nasty stains should be pre-treated if not outright hand washed. Pre-soaking also does some good if you're tossing it in the wash.
* And if something says hand washed, there usually is a good reason for it. Watch out for clothing tags. They'll also help to figure out which temperature they're supposed to go in.
* Cold water is more efficient as far as energy goes, and so are front load washers as opposed to top (they use less water).
* Some detergents work better for some people than others. Plus they tend to smell different or target specific clothing types. But if you're going to be energy efficient with the cold water, look into cold water detergents. I'm fonder of liquid detergents in general.
* Always check your pockets. It's nice finding some lost money but markers and pen can explode and tissues will tear up and get all over all of the clothes.
* Hanging up laundry to dry requires a lot of clothes hangers, room and time, but can keep clothes from getting beaten up as quickly. Plus it's an energy saver.
* Beware the red sock hiding in the load of whites. A silly story but a possibility that can make your world much more pink.

What water temperatures do you use for your laundry?
Do you use a dryer or hang dry?
Anything special about your detergent?
What do you consider to be 'darks' and what do you consider to be 'lights'? (Reds, blues, greens, greys...)
Who does your laundry?
Are you considering energy saving laundry methods?

Meh, I never considered water temperature. I usually just used whatever was set, which after today, I'm guessing it hot/cold.

We used to hang dry a lot, especially during the summer when it works a lot better. But I think we mostly used to hang dry because a) drying uses a lot of energy and can be expensive and b) our dryer was broken and sounded terrible. We just bought a new dryer though, so I think we're going to be lazy again and use it more.

Nothing special about detergent. My mom usually just buys liquid detergents. Although the 'mountain rain' scent is nice.

Darks- jeans and blacks, navy blues, reds. Lights- green, greys, blues. Whites are whites. I should probably separate the jeans from the darks completely, but I'm lazy.

My mom usually does my laundry, but I do it sometimes. I'm considering doing it more because she bleached a couple of my shirts by accident.

* Always check your pockets. It's nice finding some lost money but markers and pen can explode and tissues will tear up and get all over all of the clothes.

Recently, I put my favourite green jacket (the one I was wearing in both my Facebook profile picture and in the ABC news clip featuring Critical Mass) in the washing machine with a pen in the pocket. crying

I managed to get some of the stain out, but it's still there.

I normally wash everything together without separating colours (which has never been an issue), and I separate out things that I hang dry. I know, I don't really pay much attention to what I'm doing. That's why my clothes stretch so much. xd

Aww. Yeah, stains aren't fun. When I wrote that, I was thinking about Shibbs. His had a black marker in his work pants that exploded so he needed to buy new ones.

But it's fun seeing what people do with their laundry and what happens from different treatment.

Like, Mousy's clothes stretch. xD

I just toss everything in together. I use the warm/cold cycle.
I don't bleach, since I don't have enough whites to put in one load.
I use the dryer. I'm too lazy to hang up everything to dry.

I toss everything into the washing machine, press the 'colors' button, and wait for 37 minutes. Oh, and I use liquid detergent.
