Well ever since i got back to playing with my fingers[which was quite a while ago] my fingers have gotten fast enough to do something i like to call a double hit. It`s like using 4 fingers to play your bass but only using 2 fingers. My fingers seem to hit the string 2 times going down and 2 times going up,it`s to fast for me to actually make a bassline out of it.

I think what he's saying is that he uses the Burton finger flick. Using your middle and index fingers, pluck with your middle, then your index, then flick with your middle then index. Back and forth, back and forth. I use it to match my drummers double bass, or to make the bass sound almost like a drone.

to Atomic:I would but i don`t have a camera.
to Ashz:Well the problem is that i don`t flick my fingers.Try this, put out your index finger, have both of your index finger and middle finger[on your playing hand.]about an inch up from your finger[the one on your fretting hand],bring down your middle finger then your index finger, now do this in reverse, bring up your middle finger then your index.Slowly start going faster until you know what i`m talking about.

Man for one I could tottally play at any speed and make a bass line out of it. Its called death metal man. Or grindcore. Also I do believe that you and Aahz are talking about the same thing. Personally I prefer to go slow some times, and then pick up the pace.

ya i know what you're talking about, geddy lee plays like that only with his index finger only. that is quite a playing style, if you mastered it that would be impressive, keep practicing! razz

I do that to play The Trooper but out side of tripletes I have found a lot of use for it. What do you use it for?

Yes, this technique will enable you to play really fast if you practice it enough. But the sound of your flesh striking the strings will sound different from your nails striking the strings. Plus, skipping strings gets a whole lot more difficult as well.
If you are willing to make your bass sound irregular, then develop away. =)

I use it to make the bass drum sound more massive during our faster songs with constant double bass. Like D-Day on our myspace. Battlefront
