Stardust stood proudly before the five remaining apprentices. She had hoped that all six would have completed the first part of the quest with each other's help, but it was inevitable that someone would have ended up with an injury. From what she heard, the cut was minor, and she hoped that Kentiphae would be well enough to try again the next time she was ready for more apprentices.
In the meantime, Stardust had already asked all the apprentices to turn in their Flamestones to her - for safekeeping until they proved themselves capable and worthy. Because now it was the second stage in the quest, the last group activity before she began one-on-one sessions with those who passed the quest.
"I'm glad that the five of you made it back without harm, for you will need to be in the best of physical conditions in order to complete the second part of this quest. For you will be trekking across the island to the southwestern shores of the Isle - yes, where the Dead Lands is located." Pausing to look gravely at her apprentices, Stardust hoped that none of them would back out at the mention of the forbidden region. "I'm sure that all of you, especially those that come from Hreidmar and Attila, have been taught since early childhood that the Dead Lands is not a place that you can simply pass through. All Fafners who have ventured more than a short distance into this deathly region has never been seen again.
"But if you work together and follow my directions very carefully, you will be able to make it past the Dead Lands and back. First, whatever you do, don't travel along the ocean - the shore seems to be more like quicksand than normal beach sand. Second, avoid going near Lake Gudrun or the river, so you'll have to travel through Hreidmar Forest and then cross into the Dead Lands. Then you'll need to go directly southeast and walk along the most darkened paths - the more things that have died where you walk, because there'll be less of whatever's killing off living material on the path that has the least living material.
"Once you're near the Volsung Ocean on the southeastern shore of the Dead Lands, change directions and go slightly southwest until you actually reach the ocean. You should then be at the Edda Strait, where the violent tides wash away the deadly bacteria on the shores. From there, you should be able to see a small island in the distance: this is Niveus. You'll have to swim there. Then the hard part's over, at least until your journey back."
Sketching in the dirt with her claws, Stardust drew a rough outline of a Chupin. "These are Chupins, the native inhabitants of the island. You'll need to bring one back with you, and not by force - you cannot work with a creature that does not trust you. They are most easily trained young, so bring back a child - their young don't need to follow their parents around like we Fafners do. So you'll find that the Chupins are easy to tame with sweetberries, which are red berries you'll find on cliffside shrubs. Chupins can't normally reach the berries since they're not adapted to climbing cliffs - but they're marvelous at climbing trees.
Bring only one back with you. They can't swim so you'll have to carry it back on your back - and trust me, you won't be able to support more than one. Then follow the exact same path you took through the Dead Lands. Once again, there's no rush so take as much time as you want. Although I highly advise that you not dawdle in the Dead Lands.
Remember, be careful and watch out for each other. I hope to see all five of you back here safely, and with a Chupin, in a few days. Good luck." Rules1.Only the 5 Fafners who passed Part I are allowed to post in this topic. 2. This is a group RP - that means you should interact with each other. Directions1. You must post at least six times to reach Edda Strait - but DO NOT swim across to Niveus Island yet. 2. Once you've posted at least six times, ROLL ONE 4-SIDED DICE. 3. Then wait for further instructions before you post again.

Lunai and the four others carefully made their way back to Stardust's hut. She couldn't know for sure, but Lunai felt that all five remaining Fafnirs were still thinking about the incident. Especially Mo...this must be an extremely difficult time for her. Lunai vowed to be there for Mo if she needed comforting. But some dealt with bad feelings in different ways, so Lunai said nothing about it.
She knew those chains were a bad idea. From the second Lunai saw what Shun was wearing, she just knew they would cause problems. But it was not her place to speak on the issue, so she hadn't. At least now it was likely that Shun had learned a valuable lesson. And at least Kentiphae wasn't badly injured.
They reached Stardust's hut once again, and upon command, Lunai turned over her Flamestone. She then settled in to listed to the master Craftmaker's words. Her speech was long, and filled with valuable information. Lunai concentrated, making sure to remember every bit of the directions they were given. These instructions could mean the difference between life and death, and nobody wanted another incident to happen!
When Stardust finished, Lunai stood and stretched. The others would want to leave soon, and she did not want to be left behind. She would have preferred to travel at night, but it was not meant to be so. Silently, Lunai asked the Moon Goddess for continued luck, and then she was ready to go whenever everyone else was.

Mystica watched the others look away from the Chains form Shun. It wasn't a good idea, but they were really shiny and nice. But she decided tht maybe he can feel better if she can talk him out of being depressed...

Mo travel back to Stardust's hut with her head in the clouds. She's wasn't entirly listening when their teacher gave her intructions but did remember giving up her flamestone. At the end of the speach she was hit in the head with Lunai's tail as she stretched. It didn't hurt but it did bring her back to reality. She padded over to Shun. "I just want you to know that I don't blame you. Someone was bound to be hurt. I don't think the five of us will all return with Chibins."

Mystica agreed: It was even a slim possibility that she'd get past the first part. They were going to be slowly eliminated somehow, but she didn't want to think it a negative way.

Mortimer remembered Starrdust's speach somehow. "Alright so first we should... travel through Hreidmar Forest and then cross into the Dead Lands?" She asked, standing up as if it was time to go. "We should set out quickly so we reach a safe place to spend the night. We definatly cannot make this trip in one day." She nodded and decided to take the lead, she took a few steps away and asked, "Is everyone ready?" Her voice craked a bit on the word everyone but she hoped no one noticed.

"Mo, it's alright. I'm pretty sure Kenti will be fine...I do hope everyone else is ready, though. If there's somebody you need to chat with...I'll try to cheer you up." Mystica patted Mo on the back softly. She hoped she didn't discourage her, though...

Zenzi returned to Stardust with the flamestone in her mouth. She was sad and happy all at the same time. She was happy she was going on and she made it, but yet at the same time she was sad. Kentiphae was the leader or he put his self in that position. She gently dropped the flamestone before her teacher and sat back with the others while she delivered the speech. This task was more difficult then the last one. There was a lot of details that she heard and they needed to be aware about. Zenzi did remember that when passing through Dead Lands there is a trick to it. She remembered not to travel on the beach, avoid the Gudrun Lake go through her clan's forest. There was more and she thought of them. She got up and stretched. She felt like an outcast. The quietest of them which she was she tried to communcated with them but they seemed not to care. She nodded when Mortimer asking if she was ready. She just nodded. She got up and followed Mortimer and then glanced at everyone else.

Shun kept silent through their trek back to Stardust's home and left his flamestone with her as did the rest of them. The very mention of the Dead Lands was almost enough to have his fur stand on end, thankfully the armor hid that little fact. He listens closely to their instructions and the warnings of not spending too much time in that desolate place, and could quite agree with that idea.
He nods to Mortimer when she asks if they were ready, ears perking just a bit. "Hreidmar forest has a few paths through it, but none lead towards the Dead Lands. It's a quick journey through there if we start off on a path before venturing into thicker trees."

It seemed as though most everyone was ready to leave...but nobody was taking the lead. That had been Kentiphae's job last time, but with him gone, there was no clear leader to the group. SOMEONE had to do it, though. Lunai was getting antsy to leave, so it may as well be her.
"Okay, we should head out. It won't get any safer with time!" In fact, it would probably become more dangerous if they waited much longer. Lunai thrived in the nighttime, but so did many other creatures more dangerous than her!
Words alone wouldn't lead the group, though. She had to take some action as well. So after the words left her lips, Lunai took the first few steps on the road without looking back. Hopefully, the rest would follow!

Watching Lunai lead this time, Mystica followed instinctively, but peered back to see if Mo would follow. Well, Hreidmar Forest...She'd been around a few times...It was, after all, near her Clan's area. Zenzi, Mo, Shun, Lunai, and herself moved through to where the forest stood. It was really thick...

Mo cocked ears at Shun. He had obvious knowledge of the forest and had to know the way. She didn't move a muscle when Lunai took a few steps. "Shun." She said quietly, "I think you should lead us this time." She nodded her head and slowly stood up to follow him.

Zenzi looked at them. "So is Luni leading or is Shun leading. They both can do it. Two heads are better than one." She looked at them. She knew that it was getting dark and they needed to get through the dead lands.

Lunai hadn't really wanted to take the lead. It wasn't her nature - she was more of a follower, definitely. She had just needed to get the crowd going. So now that they were on their way, it made more sense for someone who knew the area to take charge. That Fafnir was Shun.
"It's alright, I don't mind if Shun takes charge. He would know the area better than me." Lunai slowed her pace to fall back in the crowd, letting Shun get to the front.

[Woops.. sorry for the pause, the weather made posting last night rather iffy.]
Shun blinks a few times, not quite sure if he had heard correctly. Him, lead? Well.. sure he knew the forest a bit, but the Dead Lands were quite another story. "Alright.. if you really don't mind it."
He pauses a moment to unravel one of the chains from his foreleg. An idea had struck, and it just might work. "The trees will get really thick when we're off the path, so why don't we all wrap part of this chain around our tails, to keep together just in case. It's long enough I think."
