Soaring through the sky, Aurorealis gazed down at the land below him. He had been flying for several days, in circles though to make sure he didn't wander too far off from his home. Now that his son had children, he liked to visit them often because he was lonely. He never saw Hokulani and he basically gave up hope of that. His heart was rather broken but he never let it show. His weaknesses only made him stronger and he just didn't want to admit that he had made a mistake. Though, this wasn't a mistake that he regretted. He had some beautiful children and some beautiful grandchildren. He could never regret that but right now, he needed to take care of himself. So he had been away for several days, just flying and wandering through the forest. Chitsa had been worried about him but he tried to reassure her. Aurorealis looked down to the forest and spotted an area where the trees were spread apart. He landed in the clearing and looked around wondering if there was anybody nearby. He towered over the grass being taller then your average soquili. Folding his wings close to his body, Aurorealis willed his hooves to move and so they did.

She liked to keep to the shadows as her appearance often brought out mixed reactions from others. They knew who her father was and she was sure her tail didn't help. If only they new that she wouldn't.. couldn't harm a fly. She was used to ignoring what they were doing. Ignoring the stares and the occasional whisper. Why did they pretend to know her so well? Yes, she was quite skilled at ignoring them. Though she was aware of her surroundings she seldom paid it any mind unless the situation became threatening and usually it did not. The days seemed so repetitive. However, it was hard to ignore the stallion that had just landed nearby. He was as dark as she but had splashes of color on his wings and some in his hair, almost as if he had flown through a rainbow and some of the color had kissed his body. Cautiously she stepped out of the shadows and took a tentative step towards him. Not to talk to him, no, she wouldn't dare make such a bold move without knowing the safety of the situation, but she wanted to see the colors. Were they really part of him?

Aurorealis hadn't even noticed Meera in the dark clearing because she seemed to blend so well. If he hadn't stopped and taken a second look, he probably still wouldn't have noticed her. For some reason, he felt a sense of wariness from the mare. Her wings were rather curious looking and he had never seen anything like her's before. They seemed to have a rather... majestic beauty about them.
She had the kalona tail too? How could a mare that looked so... pure have something tainted be a part of her too? She was definitely confusing him now. There was just... something strange about her and now his curiosity was taking the best of him. "Hello there." His voice was rather smooth and velvety. He attempted to move closer but he moved slowly and cautiously as if afraid he would scare her away if he moved too quickly. There was no way he could tell if she was dangerous or not but he went with the gut feeling that she wasn't...

((Man, so poke me on irc and remind me of roleplays, I never can remember. I'm so sorry.))
"Were you kissed by a rainbow", she blurted out at his greeting. Her voice was soft and almost childlike in sound. As she neared the stallion she began to circle him, peering as closely as she dared at the colors on his wings and hair. "I've never seen anything like it," she added a moment later.
"I'm Meera, daughter of Lady Korrine and god-daughter of Glamrock of the True Spirit Herd," she greeted with pride, purposely leaving out her father. "I'm sorry if I came off too forward but I've never seen so many colors so close together before.
She fluffed her own wings which were just tipped in red. Would she have looked more beautiful if she had such pretty colors on her own wings?

Aurorealis watched her curiously and tilted his head at her question. "Oh? I don't think I was..." His voice trailed off as he was unsure of how to reply to her comments. He was flattered though by her compliments; he really didn't think he was that special. Aurorealis was occupied by Meera's wings and her tail. That was... different, weren't only kalonas supposed to have those tails? The poor stallion was confused by these strange contradictions but he didn't say anything.
"Your wings are... beautiful. They're different then mine but they seem so much more elegant..." Aurorealis didn't know what other way to put it but they were indeed beautiful. He couldn't imagine such a soquili being evil... "It's quite the pleasure Meera, I go by Aurorealis." He noticed that she only mentioned her mother and god-mother, why didn't she mention her father? So far, with the few minutes that they had been talking, Aurorealis was surely confounded by this mare. "And it's fine, what are you doing on a day like this one?"

"I'm part Angeni," she replied automatically, as she turned from his wings and started looking at his hair. "I'm not exactly sure what one is as I've never seen a real one, but my father.. used to be one. My brothers don't have any wings, nor does my mom or godmother. It's just me," she said, trailing off with a sigh, "but thank you for the compliment, Aurorealis."
"I usually come here and watch the others. I like looking at them. They all lead such different lives and they look so different. I've seen many colorful soquili, but none with as many colors jumbled together like yours. Especially with the rest of your body and hair being so dark. I guess you can say I have a fondness for pretty things, regardless of what form they take." She blushed slightly after her comment. She didn't mean it in a flirtatious way but she did become flustered that it could be taken as such. "I also like to watch the little ones play. They seem so happy usually. What about you? What are you up to?"

Angeni... That word sounded so familiar like it was part of his pastime. Aurorealis shrugged off the thoughts about his past as this was not the time to think about that. "Used to be one? What do you mean by that?" He wasn't even aware that he probably shouldn't have asked that but he was curious to know why she didn't mention him when she had first introduced herself. Aurorealis smiled charmingly as she spoke about what she did while she was here.
"I have to agree with that. All of the soquili around here are so unique and have their different stories. It is fascinating to watch them interact and such." The stallion couldn't help but chuckle happily as she complimented him, "You compliment me when I don't deserve it. I should be the one mentioning how I like to admire beauty." He smiled once more at her feeling that they would get along fine. "Young foals are amusing and interesting to watch. One of my sons just had foals of his own so I was preoccupied with watching my grandchildren for awhile but now they're all grown up..." His voice trailed off at the end of his sentence. All of this talk about his family only reminded him of what was missing from his own life. Something that he dearly wanted...

"Well, most of what I know, I found out from others. While I met my dad once.. it wasn't.. a good experience. He used to be an Angeni, I guess, but he was not very nice. I heard he did bad things and then they cursed him so that he was half demon. I have his tail... but I am no demon. I am nothing like my father." Embarrassed, she swung her tail around to hide behind her. She hated that tail. She longed for something beautiful like her mom's tail. "I get my my wings and tail from my dad, but they say I look like my mom."
"You have grandchildren? I do not yet have any, or foals of my own at that. But I do enjoy watching them. I do have a nephew and niece though. I'm sorry if I appear rude, but you don't look old enough to have grown grandchildren. Or maybe I'm just not a good judge of age," she said curiously, squinting her eyes to try to get a better look at the stallion. "Is it nice, having children and grandchildren," she asked?
Meera hoped for children one day but she would never admit it. And part of her kept herself from getting close to anyone. She didn't want to possibly put an offspring through the same thing had gone through. If she got a demon tail from her father, it was possible that one of her own foals could end up with one. She couldn't stand to think of them having a lonely life, judged for any imperfections their body suffered from having.

Listening intently to her story, Aurorealis began to understand why she didn't mention him at first. Obviously, they didn't have very good ties and that seemed understandable with the way Meera described him. After she finished explaining her father, Aurorealis wasn't sure what to say. Everything he would have said seemed so trivial to what she said. "I can tell you're no demon." The stallion took his attention off of her tail and focused on her beautiful wings. "Yes, I'm so proud of them. They all are beautiful and respectable." Aurorealis chuckled once more as she spoke about him not seeming old enough to have children. "Looks can be deceiving. I don't think I'm that old but I've been around long enough." He paused slightly to reminisce about his family, "Yes, it is nice to have children and grandchildren. It's definitely a trial but watching them grow up. It's priceless and I wouldn't trade it for anything."
Again, his thoughts were directed back to the fling that brought about his children and his grandchildren. Though he doesn't regret it, he wished that he had his own mate. Someone to love and protect. But as for now, he was content watching his family flourish and expand. "Do you have a large family?" He hoped that he wasn't being nosy or anything but the mare was so intriguing.

She smiled and relaxed visible when he told her that she was no demon. It was one of her biggest worries and what kept her from approaching many. She wished she knew what he was talking about. Though she did have a niece and nephew and they were all grown up, she hadn't really spent any time around them. So she didn't really know much about foals at all, except how she and her brothers used to be. She wondered if her mom was proud of her or her grandmother for that matter. She hoped so.
"Well," she said with a giggle, "It depends on what you call family. I only have two brothers really, but Glamrock has four daughters and two sons of her own. Her family makes up the majority of the herd and they are like my family too. Then with Ezriel's son and daughter, and my mom, I think it's pretty big. I am the only one that stays with the herd so I don't see my brothers as much as I'd like. I do tend to get out and explore from time to time, like now. What about you? How many children and grandchildren do you have?" She hoped she wasn't coming off as terribly annoying, she wasn't used to holding conversations outside of her family.

Aurorealis could definitely feel the weight of his age on his shoulders. He had never really thought or worried about getting old since he was always living in the present and not the future or the past. It was a way of staying positive and cheerful even when things weren't so great. His family definitely was the happy thing in his life now.
As she spoke, he began to realize how their families weren't so different even though she wasn't on such great terms with her father. "Wow, your family is pretty big." The stallion paused, tallying up each of his family members. "I have three children. One of them just had three more children. So my direct family consists of 6 children and grandchildren." He purposely didn't mention the mother of his children as he didn't consider her part of his family now. "And then there's Chitsa... We're not directly related but we're close enough and I pretty much consider her my sister. If I consider her and her family. That would bring the total to ten in my family." He smiles sheepishly as he finished his sentence, "Sorry, I must be boring you with my rambling."

She stepped close in an attempt to reassure him, "No, no, not at all. I like hearing about such things. I like to know what's going on outside of my own family. It can feel so confining when you know or experience so little.."
Chitsa was a pretty name, she noted as she let the information from the stallion sink in. Sister, children, grandchildren. No mother? No mate? Dare she ask? She didn't want to pry but he had asked her about her father right? Perhaps she was owed a difficult question as well.
"What about.. the mother of your children?" The moment she asked a worry came over her. Had she been too sudden with it? Not thought it through? Please don't let her be dead, she silently pleaded. That would be a horrible thing to find out from prying. Hadn't her own mom barely survived an attack once? And she herself.. her father and nearly killed her. Such things could happen. Did happen..all the time. Perhaps there was a reason that Aurorealis did not mention the mother of the family. One that caused pain when brought up. She cursed her stupidity, wishing she could take back the question.

Feeling a bit more reassured, Aurorealis smiled softly at her. He was proud of the family that he had built up since first arriving here. He never thought that he would be so lucky to have such a big family like this. Even though there didn't seem to be a worry for him, he knew that he was being plagued by his own personal demons whether he knew it or not.
The stallion chuckled softly when she asked about the mother of his children. "Oh. Well, I knew this would come up." He paused and looked away from Meera, reminiscing about that time. He didn't think for long and returned his gaze to Meera; his expression still smiling. "She's up and about. Doing her own things. It didn't quite work out for us. You know what I mean?" With the smile still on his face, Aurorealis knew that he it was getting more and more fake every second. He wasn't happy when he thought about her because he knew that they could have had something special... if only he had seen her more and if she had actually stuck around to see her kids grow up.
He observed her expression curiously wondering what she would think of his troubles. "It's nothing though. My family makes me very happy and they're the world to me. I try not to dwell on the past."

Meera nodded though she didn't know what to say. He seemed happy enough though she thought she had caught something in his eyes. A hint of something else? She shook it off as being silly. "Yes, I know what you mean. I have seen that a lot while watching the mares and stallions about this land. Sometimes, you can't make something work, no matter how hard you try." To be honest, that was why she was afraid of relationships. The one thing she wanted in her life was to feel safe and to have some stability. It seemed more and more relationships were failing. Did true love exist any more? Had it ever?
"I am glad that your family brings you happiness," she stated honestly. It might have been a bit cheesy to say to a near stranger but it was true nonetheless. She believed everyone should be happy since there's so much danger and fear in the world. You had to cling to the good moments while they were there and to never forget them when they moved on. "I try not to dwell on the past too," she said in almost a whisper. If she had, she probably wouldn't be social at all. The attack of her father had scarred her both physically as well as emotionally but she always tried to move forward. "The future is what matters, right?"

The stallion nodded once more trying to not think about his past. "It's unfortunate but I don't regret a thing." Aurorealis chuckled and smiled knowing that he would probably die without his family. He loved them so much; he would protect them with his life. "Yes the future is what counts." He paused and glanced at the ground for a moment. He thought he had seen something but it was only a small beetle.
Though, he was thinking about her comment about not dwelling on the past either. From personal experience, Aurorealis knew that the people that didn't dwell on the past had something bad happen to them. He was a little curious to know if his assumptions were right but he guessed that it was probably something to do with her father. Even so, he wouldn't try to pry unless she wanted to tell him. "So, do you have any plans for the future? Anything you want to accomplish?" He watched her waiting for a reply. But... he knew that was a strange question to ask because he didn't even know what he wanted for his future...
