Calendra could not be happier she thought. She gave birth to two perfect little girls, well...almost perfect. Her subpar gentics showed on their face. Instead of the perfect eyes of their father, they have one of hers. Her shame upon seeing that was imense but Flint, overjoyed Flint, just forgave her quickly.
She was so lucky to have him.
Cal had been working like a demon since then. She had twins to feed and raise, a house to up keep and a body to bring back to it's old 'glory'. Finally, now, she was back to her old size, and she noticed something interesting about Echo's coloring books. While Lenore's were a bold mess of 'pretty' colors Echo's were perfectly colored, everything inside the lines and some of the spelling mistakes were fixed.
That must mean...her daughter is gifted! Her father's DNA triumphs again!
"Um...Flint?" Cal spoke up softly, eyes open and giving as she wore his favorite outfit, to prove she could again. "Are you...um...can I tell you something? It's good news." Cal asured him, not wanting him to think she'd bother him with one of her many pathetic problems. It wasn't for him to deal with.

"...Hm?" Flint sounded preoccupied, but not out of disinterest to what his wife was saying; he was just currently busy wrestling Echo into her dress. He had found her an hour earlier covered in litter and cat hair, so this was just the final process of bathing her; of course toddlers are known to get into cat boxes, but the puzzling part of this dilemma, was that they did not own a cat. When the kicking and thrashing became too much, he let her run down the hall barefooted and with one strap of the dress loose; please don't let that be a glance at her future career.
"Yes, Puppy?" He sat cross-legged on the floor defeated. Flint loved his daughters very much, but the 'terrible twos' were worse than everyone made them out to be. "I think I'm in need of some good news," he smiled to her.

She relaxed the moment he smiled up at her. She glanced as Echo just ran down the hall. She sure did get all of the energy. Lenore could sit, silently, for hours at a time, but not Echo. Sometimes she could be convinced to sit still but...she had to be doing something. Not like Lenore.
"It's about Echo...I think...I think she may be gifted. Mentally." Cal said smiling, sitting down next to her husband. Takeing the opertunity while she had it she leaned against him. While she rested her head on his shoulder she opened up the coloring book, showing it to her husband.
"See hunny?" she showed, and then glanced at him. "You never had any schooling Flint, but you can read and write better than me, and your math skills is the only reason I managed to graduate high school. She must have gotten your mind. Imagine what she could do when she does go to school." Cal said brightly, hope and joy in her voice as she hugged close to her husband.
Lenore stood, in her perfect clothes, in front of the small 'plant area'. Cal said that every house needs a little life. She hadn't asked for a pet, after all she had children, but she did managed to quietly get a small plant area that she took care of lovingly. A few weeks ago one of her plants had finally bloomed, a single beautiful flower that Cal was so proud over. She had taken both her daughters over and showed it to them happily. Lenore had been perfectly captive over it. It was so...pretty.
Now it was dying.
"Bad." Lenore whispered, pouting firmly as she stared at the fading bloom. "Bad. Bad."

"Wow." Flint mouthed the word as he ran his hand through his hair. He began flipping through the book, looking at all of his daughter's work. Her coloring was perfect (though the colors looked like an acid trip, it was still incredible for someone her age). "That's my girl," he smirked as he saw the red line through the 'can I have some ice cream' caption and 'MAY I ): ): ):' was drawn next to it.
""I can't believe it. We can barely get her dressed and yet she's beating the pants off of first graders."
"LEN-LEN!" Echo's squeal could be heard as she ran down the hall; it was her nick-name for her sister, for Lenore was way too long to say (the fact that Len-Len and Lenore had the same amount of letters was ignored). The girl bashed head-first into the wall, leaving a large crack and small bits of plaster to flake off.

Cal smiled and turned, kissing Flint's cheek softly, her arms moving around him. She hoped to use his good mood for a nice cuddle, get some love that she needed so badly from her husband. Completely innocent of course, Cal could never be a bad mother, unless of course Flint demanded otherwise. Cal would never disobey Flint.
Then there was a loud thud from the living room.
"Girls?" Cal called out, scared for her kids as she got up. She paused for a minute, glancing at Flint. If he ordered her to sit down, she would, but she wanted to see if her babies were alright.
Lenore turned away from the flower to quietly watch her sister crash into the wall. Knowing she was okay, (Echo has done such things before) Lenore merely giggled behind her hand as she moved over to Echo, dusting her off.
"E dirty." Lenore mentioned, helping her sister back to her feet, falling over in the process. Lenore couldn't move like Echo, couldn't talk as much, and definately wasn't as strong. But Lenore had her own talents.
She just didn't know them yet.

"WHAT HAPPENED?" Flint bellowed which was something he rarely ever did. And it wasn't at Cal, it wasn't even at his daughters. He was just terrified that someone had broken into the house.
He stood up, grabbing his wife's hand to lead her to the noise. There were to kids, so they needed four hands if there was trouble.
"I WENT BOOM BOOM, DADDY!" Echo tried to mimic her father's pitch, smiling brightly as she did so.

Cal was gladded when he tugged her along. Though the bellow had made her wince, her heart jumping in fear. She worried for a moment she would be blamed but all those fears melted away when she was dragged along. She knew he didn't blame her if he was touching her.
"Head. Wall." Lenore informed, with less words but some how more elegently. She then pointed to the wall, the new found dent that shouldn't have been there. "Daddy. Up." she ordered, holding up her arms.
"Now, now Lenore, don't order your father around." Cal said softly, bending down to stroke Echo. "Are you okay honey? Do you need any medical help?"
"E okay Mommy." Lenore asured her, knowing her sister very well.

""It's fine, Cal." He scooped up his princess and threw her around his shoulders, letting her ride him like a gallant steed. "There ya go, sweetheart." He beamed with pride at this bonding moment--his child loved him, both did, and they were happy, normal little girls.
"Now, Echo, why would you hit the wall?" Flint chuckled, something he only did with his family.
"I wanted to play with Len-Len! Meanie wall get in the way, so I make it go BOOM!" Her logic was flawless; if the wall was in the way of her sister, then she'd make it move.

Cal was always hesiant to scold. Though she knew children needed it sometime but something about the way Echo explained it so...logically that maybe logic was the best way to explain why not to do it. She bent down and brushed off Echo's head. She did...seem okay...at least.
"Honey....um...hitting the wall is bad, it hurts the wall, which we have to pay to make better and it hurts your head and your father and I would be devestated if anything happened to you. So next time the meanie wall gets in the way, try slowing down and moving around it. Walls aren't that fast." Cal tried to mix humor with her lecture and gave Echo a soft smile. At least she seemed okay.
Lenore on the other hand giggled happily as she easily thrown on her father's shoulders. She hugged him tight as she laughed and looked down at the dying flower, frowning.
"Daddy!" she whispered, tugging his sleave. "Flower dying!"

"Okay. Mommy!" Echo beat her chest and puffed it out, "I will beat the meanie wall by tricking it! THEN I WILL ATTACK!" If Viking was a possible job choice for children growing up this day and age, it would be perfect for Echo; the problem is, would they accept her.
Flint watched Cal handle the situation and watched quietly, she was doing well enough. Halfway through her explanation he was distracted by Lenore's whisperings.
He frowned and looked over to the flower. "Hey, Cal, you forgot to water the plant." Really, it was such an easy task. Now poor Lenore would have to plant another flower with her mommy; would that one die, too? That really wasn't fair to subject a toddler to.

Lenore smiled as Daddy took care of it. She didn't actively notice how her mother paused and cringed, as if she was just hit. When you had a mother like Cal you forgot how often she cringed and skittered back. Lenore was just glad that the flower would be okay.
Cal though got up quickly and just moved silently to the kitchen. She never actively showed to much fear. That would annoy Flint and to be honest...she wasn't afraid of him. Afraid of failing him yes but she loved Flint and never would be afraid of him. Everything he did to her would be for her own good in the end.
Lenore squirmed again as everything setteled. She wanted to play with Echo now and she was too high up. Besides, she wanted to touch the flower. She didn't know why but she really wanted to touch the dying flower.
"Daddy! Down!" she now called out, squirming trying to get down herself.

"Haha, okay sweetie." He leaned down and let go of her, offering her a way to safely slide down her back. It was so cute to see his daughters play together; they loved each other, and that was a rare thing. "You two play nice."
"'Course we play nice, Daddy. Only walls play mean, silly." Echo giggled. Daddy was funny sometimes. How could he not know these things?
"Well I stand corrected."

Cal smiled as she heard Flint talk with the girls. He did love them and that was enough for her. She filled the watering can and came out, pausing as she saw Lenore standing in front of the flower. A pain filled her heart as she realized her mistake would hurt on of her daughters, that her inferoites were so blanet again.
Then Lenore's hand reached up to touch the flower. No one else noticed that her hand was already on one of the ugler plants, touching one of it's leaves. As she touched the flower it came back to life, and the leaf slowly died. But Lenore smiled.
"Not dying." she said proudly, looking up to Flint and Cal, very proud of herself. Cal gasped as the watering can slipped from her hands but as the water spilled all over the carpet she didn't think what an idiot she was, all she could do was stare at the no longer dying plant.
"Oh...oh my god." Cal whispered, walking over to Flint, clutching on to his arm, needing his strength for a moment. "D-did you see that Flint?"

"No... s**t." A strained smile, deadly as it revealed teeth akin to fangs was all he could show as he calmly stated. "Good job, sweetheart. Now... I have more work to do in my study." His study was off-limits to the rest of the household--even his daughters. He clenched his fists as he stormed out, barely able to contain his rage.
Echo happily ran over to her sister and threw her arms around her. "YAY, LEN-LEN!"

Cal pulled her hand up as soon as she heard Flint swear. Her heart dropped as she watched him storm off. Some would think that at least he was going to the study but Cal would rather he'd take his anger out on her...at least then she'd be helping. She turned though and forced a smile on her face.
Lenore was frowning though. Daddy went to the off-limits place and now Mama was scared and sad again. She let out a sigh and looked to Echo, smiling at her. At least she was happy.
"Play dollies!" Lenore said happily, easily letting the trama of the house slid off of her. That's the joys of being a toddler. You didn't have to worry needlessly about such stuff. Instead she grabbed her sister's hand tugged her off to their room.
Which made Cal happy. She had a mess to clean up and plenty to worry about. What made Flint so mad? Maybe they should make an appointment with that doctor, the one that gave them a shot. Maybe he could explain why Lenore had a power that no one else did. Cal sighed as she looked to the study.
"I love you Flint." she whispered to herself. She just wished that could be enough.
