I want to modify this horrible alarm clock I got for christmas xp It even crows!?! I however like the overall shape, reminds me of the classic old clocks and I know it has inner beauty. I however have never taken apart a clock before and I would like it to still work when I'm done. Any suggestions or help would be lovely.

Don't ask me why I got this I don't even like roosters confused

Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong forum.

First thing I'd do is crack it open and remove the face - revealing it's lovely cog innards.
Next - locate whatever crows and rip it out. Then Smash It With A HAMMER! *ahem*

With any luck, after stripping the garish red housing, you might find sufficient framework to keep it as-is. If not, I'd stick it back together and paint it a lovely brass effect.

I definitely like the idea of smashing the horrid crowing. A friend of mine thought it might be possible to change the recording all together to something more pleasant. If not it will be smashed quite quickly xd
I found a tutorial on faux wood painting so I'm going to give that a try and see if I can't make the casing look like its made of wood.

I finished my clock =^-^= I'm quite happy with how it turned out...though it still crows. The darn clocks alarm is attached to the actual function of the clock so if its removed it won't work. Oh well I don't really want to use it as an alarm just more of a show piece.

Fabulous! It sort of looks like you did a wood-grain type thing with the round part of the housing. That's a really pretty mahogany color. It's a shame you couldn't get rid of the crowing, though. My dad had a clock that crowed for the longest time and I wanted to destroy that damn thing so badly.... eek

yes I did do wood grain affect on it. I tried to duplicate the wood furniture I already own. The crowing is annoying but only if you hit the alarm button on the back otherwise its silent biggrin

Now I wish someone would have bought me an ugly clock for the holidays. Great work.

It's amazing! It makes me want to modify a very similar clock of mine. However mine does not crow, it simply rings loudly enough to wake the dead.
