The waves crashed against the beach in a dramatic sort of drum solo, always on beat, exciting as it reached the listener's ears, but oddly calming. Arsenic stood with Asthario, their hooves and paws displacing the light golden sand. They were silent, watching as sea birds swooped at their prey, and varies other creatures went about their lives. But even in the silence they knew each other's inner thoughts; Arsenic was worried about his mother, as she seemed incomplete, and Asthario thought only of Arsenic and their friendship, valuing every moment of it. Slowly Arsenic began to walk towards the water until he could feel it cooling his skin. Asthario didn't follow for he had a severe disliking for anything dark and wet, mainly the ocean.

Rushing around with excitment, Caprice swam around under the ocean. It was pretty early in the morning, a time when the sun shone down from it's perch high in the sky and warmed the water. The light also lit up hidden nooks and craneys and revealed little clams and coral. With a fierce whip of her tail, Caprice propelled herself foward; scattering a school of fish in the process. Sorry! She mouthed, giggling. Caprice was always gitty and a little silly in the morning, it was just her way.
After doing her morning routine of waking up all her friends, a starfish, a dolpin, etc, Caprice decided it was time for some fresh air. She hadn't been up since she first dove down into the water after waking up. No matter how much she wished to, Caprice couldn't sleep under the water. She could hold her breath for a while, but not breath. Rising up, Caprice broke through the surface with force. It wasn't under after she'd gotten the water out of her eyes that she realized there was a horse right in front of her.
Needless to say, she'd gotten him soaked.

Arsenic hadn't noticed all the activity underwater. He knew there were fish and aquatic mammals, but he'd never really put much thought into their lives and their cultures. What did it matter to him? He was a land dweller, four legs and fur, he didn't belong with the fish. A disturbance in the crash of the waves alerted him further out to sea, but he only had a second to think before he was soaked, dripping head to toe with salty sea water. He heard Asthario snicker behind him and mumble something similar to 'This is why I don't go near water', but payed him no mind as he blinked at the creature before his eyes. A mare of light blues, purples, and greens, more wet than he was. But that was not what made him stare. She had what appeared to be... fins?! He mentally shook his head. What kind of weirdo dream was he in?

As Caprice stood there in the sand, dripping wet, she couldn't help but notice the stallion looking her up and down. But by now she wasn't all too suprised by this. Most land horses weren't familar with ones that dwelled in the water; in fact, some didn't even know there were horses with fins! And Caprice wasn't affended with the curious looks she got either. Actually, she enjoyed the attention. To her, the fins and tail were nothing special. But the looks she got from others helped boost her egos.
"Sorry about getting you wet." Caprice said, noting his soaked mane. Being wet didn't bother Caprice in the least. With her scales, Caprice would be dry in no time. But she wasn't sure about the newcomer. "I should have looked before I leaped."

Arsenic shook his head as she spoke. She really was real. He stood with his eyes close for a moment before he felt a paw prodding his back leg; obviously Asthario trying to bring him out of his shock. "I-I'm sorry. Excuse me for being rude. I don't mind being wet, though I'm sure Asthario is thankful for being spared. It's fine really." Once he started talking it all came out in a rush, as he was uncertain of how to act. He did feel terribly sorry for how he was reacting to her presence but he couldn't help it, he'd never seen someone like her before.

Caprice couldn't help but giggle at the stallion's fast words and stuttery. She'd been around some shocked horses before, but he beat them all. Turning her head, Caprice evaluated the little creature that was by his side. Caprice wasn't very familiar with many land pets, so she wasn't sure what animal the creature was. She was use to seeing only birds, fish, and other creatures that lived near the sea.
"Well, I'm glad you two are fine then." Caprice said, smiling. Bending down, she tried to move closer and get a better look at the stallion's little friend. When she noted they were both black and red, Caprice couldn't help but say in a cute voice, "You two are so adorable together!"

It took a moment but Arsenic got his brain working at a decent pace and he was able to think clearly. He looked back at Asthario at her comment and smiled. "Um, thank you." He could tell Asthario was proud by the way he puffed out his chest and purred. "So..." He paused, choosiing his words as carefully as he could, "You live... in the water...?" He motioned towards the spot she emerged from, which showed no sign of a mare flying from it's depths.

After staring at the furry creature for a moment longer, Caprice stood up tall to be face to face with the male.
"Live in the water? Oh no!" Caprice said, dreaming of what that would be like. But alas, but wasn't able to breath under the water. She could, however, hold her breath for an incredible amount of time. She wasn't too sad about this though. In exchange for the gills, Caprice would lose her freedom to be able to leave the water to be on land. The ocean and water were wonderful, but there are also so many things to explore on land. Caprice continued, "I don't have gills or anything. But I can hold my breath for a long while. So I have to sleep and stuff like that on land."
