~FAQ~

Q: Is LARP cosplay? Are they related?
I swear, so many people ask this. NO. LARP and cosplay are completly and totally seperate entities. You do not need to Cosplay to LARP and vice versa.

Q: What does LARP stand for?
Read the first post... stare

Q: What do you do at LARP?
How to answer this...well...LARP is...at LARP you uh...LARP. I mean, it can't really be explained. Alright, the GMs given one large over story for the weekend, this is the main story, however not only do they hold events but your character will have personal goals they'll try to accomplish as well.

Okay, to get an idea for LARP, take a bunch of characters from random animes, and shove them all into the fair city of Baltimore, and see what happens.

~Pre-Reg List~

How to Pre-reg

Hello, one and all. This is the announcement you've been waiting for. We're
ready for pre-con character signup for the Otakon 2007 LARP to begin.
Here's how it will work:

Pre-con signup will open on Saturday, October 28, 2006, at 12:01 AM Eastern
Time. *Please* don’t send any requests before then. We're sorry, but
any reservations sent before that time won't be counted.

Your request must contain the following information:

- Your first choice of character and the series or title in which he/she
appears
- Two backup character choices, also including the series or title for each
- Your real name, first and last (no pseudonyms or nicknames, please!)
- Your current home postal mailing address (used to verify Otakorp
membership only)
- A valid email address where you can be contacted regularly
- Please include your Otakorp Member ID# as well. If you are a returning
Otakorp Member (as opposed to a new member), the Otakon pre-registration
page tells you how to find that number (go to
http://www.otakon.com/members/passrequest.asp ). If you don't have a
membership in Otakorp yet (because you'll be a new member and Otakon
registration hasn't opened yet), don't worry. You can update us when you
get one.

Once you have all this information together, send your email to *both* of
these email addresses: jfoering@gmail. com and teflon_tim@hotmail. com.

Remember, you *must* pre-register for Otakon 2007 in order for your
character reservation to be confirmed. Once pre-registration for the Otakon
convention actually opens, I will be checking the Otakon pre-reg database
periodically for your registrations. On Saturday, February 3, 2007 (sooner
if our quota has been filled), I will send out the first wave of warning
emails to those players whose pre-registrations have not been confirmed.
Those people will have one month to confirm their pre-registrations.
Pre-con character signups will close at midnight on Saturday, March 3, 2007.

A list of the currently available characters is available at this location:

http://cinxia. com/otakonlarp/ characters. html

You are welcome to request a character not found on this list, and if your
request is approved (some characters are "out of bounds" due to game
balance, subject matter, or playability issues) we will make it for you.
The list will be updated as new characters are made.

Please note that these dates are subject to modification as circumstances
dictate. If any changes are to be made we'll give you all advance warning.

As always, feel free to contact us if you have any questions, comments, or
concerns. Talk to you all again soon!

~The Backstory~
And so the quest began...

Okay, enough of that. Well I'll fill in as much backstory as I happen to know.

Story of 2003
In the year 2003 the only major event that happened was that a giant meteor fell into the Inner Harbor

Story of 2004
Monolith Corp., Baltimore's biggest employer is about to release a gaming machine called the M-Box(I swear, this sounds familiar...). Well one thing leads to another, turns out the company is evil, those on the side of the law lead a raid against them, then something about them spawning a demon in the center of the roof...

Story of 2005
Filled in later...

That seems to be the great question...what do you do at LARP...

Maybe a more specific question would be better... sweatdrop

Heh, that line reminded me about that new commercial for Adult Swim on having a 'Swimcon' at home, basically playing dress up.

Ah, it's no fun to watch. Besides you won't understand most of what's going on, believe me. I participate and I still have no clue as to what's going on most of the time.
