Talutah slowly made her way to a watering hole. It was early in the morning, even the sun wasn't up yet. But the female, once again, had had trouble sleeping. It was hard for her to feel safe pretty much anywhere. The thought that something else could just come and attach was always on Talutah's mind, keeping her on edge. So she had spent the night searching for safe places to sleep and had not found one.

She was a bit relieved to see there weren't many animals around the water. The tired hyena was able to get a drink without worrying about it too much. Looking around again, Talutah didn't see any hyenas in sight either. It would have been nice to see another one.

Left, right...left, right...left, right. Stomp, stomp, stomp.

K'aah fancied himself an elephant today; perhaps it was living among their bones, but he'd decided he wanted to know what it was like to be an elephant. As such, he was trying to walk like one. Maybe if he managed to imitate the beat of their movement, he could find the beat of their brains, and discover how elephants thought. Because he already knew they liked water, he'd set his course for a watering hole - if stepping like an elephant didn't have the desired effect, perhaps wallowing would?

Bending down to get another drink, Talutah stopped when she heard a noise. It sounded like something was stomping towards the watering hole. But what animal would be stomping? It wasn't very loud and the hyena knew it couldn't be something like an elephant. She would have seen something like that coming.

Off in the distance she could see what appeared to be another hyena. But he was acting quite strange. He was coming toward the water and Talutah wasn't sure what to think. She began to get a bit nervous. Hopefully he was harmless.

Left, right...left, right...left, right. Stomp, stomp - well she was very red, wasn't she! Though he continued to step like an elephant as best he could, that particualr train of thought was pushed to the back of his mind. Really, that hyena by the water was very red! Astonishingly red!

He supposed, if he wanted to be an accurate elephant, he'd tromp over and scare her off, but she was very red...and so he settled for just tromping over and telling her exactly what was on his mind, "You're very red."

The strange male came right up to Talutah, which was something she did not expect. She was worried about his intentions but was just plain surprised at what he said. It was a very random and blunt comment.

"Umm...t-thanks," was all Talutah could think to say, but decided to add, "You're hair is very pink."

This male was a bit strange, and looked the part. His eyes are hair were bright pink, but the majority of his body was black. It was a strange combination of colors.

"Pink." He paused, considering this for a moment before he set to giggling with mad amusement. "Pink! Pink elephant! Heeheehee. Heeheehee~!"

"Pink elephant!" Something about this was positively delightful to K'aah, whose giggles soon turned shrill with their intensity.

Talutah had thought this male was a bit strange. Now that opinion changed to really, really strange. After she had mentioned his pink hair, the male starting laughing. It wasn't just normal laughter either, but even sounded crazy. Then he started laughing about pink elephants. How did he come up with that random thought. Anyway, Talutah was starting to become weary and even a tad afraid of this strange hyena.

Even pink elephants weren't very good at keeping K'aah's attention, because soon his giggles died out. This red female was the strange one, in his opinion - didn't she talk? Or laugh? Or do anything at all? Maybe, if he kept an eye on her, he'd see her do something!

And so he promptly sat, cocking his head at an odd angle to watch her.

Now he was just staring at her! Talutah wasn't sure if she should back up and get far away from this male hyena. But, upon thinking it over, Talutah decided that this male probably wasn't dangerous and was probably just a bit looney.

She tried to start a conversation, "Um...hello. I'm Talutah."

Aha! Finally, she did something! Well, said something anyway. It was better than nothing at all! "Talutah," K'aah repeated with a panting grin, "Talutah Talutah."

"K'aah!" he then crowed. "I am K'aah."

"It's nice to meet you K'aah," she said giving a slight nod. Talutah still wasn't sure about this strange male, but would never refuse company. Either way, the male didn't seem bad, just strange.

"Nice?" K'aah giggled. "I suppose, I suppose. You wouldn't know yet though, would you? I am nice, awfully nice," he rambled, nodding, "But it's terribly fast to be thinking I am, don't you think?"

To tell the truth, Talutah didn't really understand all of what K'aah was talking about. She believed it was good manners to say 'nice to meet you'. Maybe the male didn't think this way. Either way, Talutah didn't see many hyenas and thought it was always nice when she was able to meet another one. "I guess you could put it that way..." the female thought, before refrasing what she had said, "Then it's very interesting to meet you K'aah."

"That will do then, I suppose," K'aah chuckled, tail swishing busily behind him. "Yes, that will do just fine." Unfortunately, K'aah wasn't very good company - he mostly tended to respond, rather than make conversation.

Talutah couldn't help but smile at K'aah. He was just so...interesting. She found his random chatting to be quite entertaining and didn't mind that he tended to just respond. Either way, it better than being alone without anyone to talk to.

"Do you live around here?" she asked curiously.
