So, it appeared he was stuck in a vending machine. Or, his arm, anyways.

Fenrir was crouched down by the slot of the caf vending machine, cheek to the glass, right arm up and inside the machine, clearly visible. It was an unfortunate predicament and rather uncomfortable at that.

He just wanted some Rolos! It was supposed to be easy- put money in, get candy. But the tube of chocolate and caramel had gotten caught on the metal coil, prompting the boy to do the only logical thing- shake the machine down. Of course, Fenrir wasn't the strongest boy, so the vending machine barely budged...even when he rammed it with his shoulder (oh, he'd have bruises tomorrow! But that seemed commonplace with the boy).

The next logical step (in his mind) had not been to get a janitor or staff member but rather, it had been been to shove his arm up the slot and get the candy himself.

And lo, here he was. Stuck in the vending machine.

He grunted and wriggled around, trying to pull his arm out, but to no avail. In the midst of his struggle, a familiar purple head poked out of Fenrir's backpack, which sat nearby. Pakuu, the little Rattata he garnered at the Halloween party a little while back, gave a small yawn and looked over the rim of Fen's bag (which he'd been sleeping in).

Fenrir looked over, gesturing to the Pokemon with his free hand. "Hey, hey buddy. Hey, come help me...I'll give you candy..." he said, keeping his voice low and pointing to the machine.

The Rattata looked to consider thing before scrabbling out of the bag and over to the machine, clambering up through the slot and inside.

"That's it...good boy. Just help me work things out..."

Of course, that wasn't even close to what the little rat had planned. It snagged and wrestled a bag of candy from the lower rack free and scrambled out of the machine's open slot, pattering off and out of the cafeteria with its spoils, much to Fenrir's dismay.

"Hey! Hey come back, Pakuu! You're gonna get caught! Pakuu! Don't leave me here! Traitor!" he whined, tugging fiercely to get free.

He gave up and slumped against the machine. He had wiggled enough to sit now with his back against the machine's front, his arm still raised up behind him in the machine. Cheers.

He reached over towards his bag with his free hand- maybe he could snack on some crackers until a janitor or guard came by to help him. He reached over, whining in frustration when he realized his bag was just barely out of his grasp. He sunk back against the machine sulking, bottom lip stuck out in a pout.

"Nooooobody knows....the trouble I seen! Noooobody knows....the sorroooow~!" he bayed mournfully. Damn, was he hungry! All he wanted was some Rolos...

Samantha kicked at a wadded up piece of paper on the floor in mild irritation, continuing on her way down the hall with hands in her pockets. Excitement had once more given way to...boredom and restlessness. Wonderful. She was no closer to figuring out what was going on or even any clue who this 'Vito' guy was. Sitting around doing nothing was about to drive her insane.

The sound of claws on linoleum caught her attention right before the clamor from the cafeteria overpowered it. Frowning, she headed for the door, wondering what in the world she was about to find inside...though a drunken version of karaoke briefly crossed her mind as a possibility.

Of all the strange things Samantha had seen since arriving on CRONUS' island...this had to be one of the most amusing. It was far up on the list at least. A bemused expression on her face, she crossed the cafeteria while sizing up the situation.

"You seem to have a bit of a problem there," she chuckled, pausing in front of the boy and crossing her arms over her chest. "You know...it really is much simpler to just call the service number on the machine."

While her tone was light and teasing, her mind was racing to figure out how in the world the kid had gotten himself trapped in there...and how she was going to get him out. Yeah, Sam had taken on the task without asking or without even acknowledging it herself as usual...

He stopped his baying once he ran out of words...which was pretty much after that one line. He stared dejectedly at the floor tiles, already bored and tired of sitting down. He really wished he could be up eating from the salad bar, or out in the exercise yard doing cartwheels and making flower chains.

He'd rather be anywhere but here. His arm was starting to hurt and cramp up from being held up for so long.

At the sound of a voice, he answered automatically without looking up. "Aw, but that woulda taken forever! I wanted my Rolos now, not tomorrow!" he whined, still staring at the floor.

Wait, wait wait! A voice! A person! Potential help! he thought suddenly. He swung his head up, bangs tumbling into his face. He habitually tried to brush his bangs away with his right hand...but considering it was stuck in the machine, it didn't pan out so well. He grunted as his arm resisted being moved, using his left hand to clear his vision.

Oh, another girl! They were all over here, it seemed. He looked her up and down, blushing sheepishly. "Heh, problem? Me? This is...ah, this is nothing! I'm just, you know...checking the interior and...stuff." he fibbed. He sat there awhile in silence, trying to give the girl a convincing stare. He looked away second later and sighed. "Yeah I'm...ah, kinda stuck. Could you get a guard or janitor or someone? My arm's startin' t' hurt." he murmured.

He was quiet a bit but...it didn't last. Obviously. Not with this boy, anyways. "Heh, at least it's not like the time I got my arm stuck in the ice machine...I thought my arm'd stay blue and frozen forever!" he laughed, always the one to make light of a situation. "Name's Fenrir, what's yours?" he asked, sticking out his left hand in greeting, grin plastered wide over his round face.

The boy's simplistic, yet honest, answer made Samantha chuckle. Hey, a candy craving was serious business afterall and if we were talking Rolos here...well, that was a whole 'nother situation. Even she had to acknowledge that. "True, true...Rolos tend to wait for no man..." she mused, still working out the situation in her head, still looking amused.

"'Course you were," she chuckled, crouching to put herself on a more comfortable level for talking with the boy. She hated looking down at people when talking...or up, for that matter. She'd do whatever she could to lessen the difference between heights when starting a conversation, especially one that looked like it could last a while. And it didn't seem the kid was going anywhere at this rate.

"Sorry," she shook her head slightly, serious again. "It'd probably take too long to find either of them in this place and I'm not sure they'd be any more help." She didn't mention that her decision was partially because she'd prefer not to seek out either of those types of people in this place on purpose, thanks. Plus, this wasn't a real emergency, right? The kid was stuck...not bleeding to death. She could handle this just fine on her own.

...if only she could figure out how.

"That'd be a shame there, you know. It's nice to meet you, Fenrir. I'm Samantha." She smiled and reached out with her own left hand to grasp his. Despite it being her lesser-used arm, her handshake was still firm and sure, possibly more than one would expect from a young woman. Then again, her form had always been rather deceptive.

Without wasting anymore time, Samantha leaned in close, studying the vending machine and the mechanism that had so maliciously taken possession of Fenrir's arm. "Hmm...tricky...but doable..." she muttered to herself, deep in thought. She pushed experimentally at the mechanism, always careful not to do anything in the process that might hurt Fenrir. "I'm sure you're getting sore there, so let's make this quick, 'k?" Flashing Fenrir a quick reassuring smile, Samantha climbed to her feet and glanced towards the kitchen area, currently vacant. "I'll be right back. Don't go anywhere." She couldn't resist winking before taking off.

There was some noise from the kitchen while she poked around, struggling to find what she was looking for before finally shouting "EUREKA!" and slamming one of the large refrigerator doors shut. She was carrying a full stick of butter when she stalked back and plopped down on the floor again with Fenrir, a mischievous grin on her face; something that hadn't been seen in a long time, let alone in all her time here on CRONUS' island.

"Hope ya' like butter!" she quipped lightly, unwrapping the stick and liberally coating Fenrir's arm with the greasy substance. She focused on the where Fen's arm was trapped, knowing at least the make-shift lubricant would make it easier to ease his arm out of the mechanism if it was possible. Depending on how long he'd been sitting here, she knew it had to be getting all kinds of sore by now.

The butter had begun to melt and drip everywhere by this point and Samantha couldn't help but laugh and shoot Fenrir an amused smirk. "Ever wonder how a piece of toast feels? Well, other than the actual toasting part that is..." she trailed off lamely. She really needed to work on her clever musings.

He watched as she squatted down by him, sizing her up. She seemed okay and she was trying to help him instead of laughing and walking away. She was a nice girl, he decided. He was such a trusting boy.

"I mean, I put my money in now, so I want my candy now. It's only fair!" he nodded, sticking his lower lip out in a determined pout.

His pout turned to a frown when the girl said she wouldn't be able to find anyone to help. Weren't there guards everywhere? He'd seen enough in the halls, herding him places or telling him he couldn't go other places. He wasn't sure how they could help, though. They only toted guns and walkie-talkies though, from his knowledge- neither seemed handy in freeing people from vending machines. He bet Mr. Hayden would have found a way to help though! He was such a nice man...

A janitor should have been able to help though. They had...keys and stuff! This had to fall under their job... But if none were to be found, he supposed it couldn't be helped. He didn't want to wait all day for someone professional when someone else was so willing to try. He hated sitting around and waiting. He wanted to get up and move!

He loosed his grip on the girl's hand after introductions had been exchanged, still grinning despite his predicament. "Samantha...oh, that's a pretty name!" he said candidly.

He tried to crane his neck around as she set to examining his situation, squirming to turn sideways to see the mechanism and everything as well. His arm was achy and uncomfortable as it was, so when she pushed the door against it, he wiggled and made a tiny whimper of displeasure.

"Owwww, that's sore!" he whined.

He watched as she left shortly after, sitting patiently, trying occasionally to tug his arm down. Oh, it hurt! He didn't like hurting- even if he was used to it. When she returned with butter though, he looked at her warily as she coated his arm with it.

Oh, it's gonna be greasy! You know how hard it is to get that stuff off?" he complained. He could help let his frown pick up into a smile at the toast comment (he...wasn't good at being unhappy).

"Yeah! Heh, throw a little jam on me and I might taste pretty delectable, huh?" he remarked, inwardly wondering what it would be like to lick butter and jam off someone. That'd be weird. Possibly tasty, though.

He wriggled his arm, trying to pull it free with the added slickness. It budged a little, but the door kept pressed against his arm. If Sam held it in place or tried to pull it down when Fenrir tugged, he might be able to slip free.

Of course, this was further complicated by the fact inside the machine, he was clinging tightly to the Rolo tube. His bunched fist and tensed muscles would make it hard to wiggle him free, but he seemed intent on leaving this with his boon...

Samantha cringed sympathetically at Fenrir's whine. "Sorry...just trying to help..." She continued her work, the butter melting everywhere at this point and making a right mess of both of them, as well as the floor. Not that Sam cared particularly. Her first priority was helping Fenrir...that...and if she made a little extra work for that obnoxious janitor, then all the better.

Fenrir's efforts to wriggle free seemed to be showing some improvements in the situation, so Samantha put the butter aside, or at least what remained of it, then nodded decisively. "Alright, let's give this another try. I'm going to hold the door open a bit and you try and slip out, okay?" Being extra careful this time not to hurt the boy further, Sam nodded and gripped the door. "Alright...pull!" Unfortunately, it took only a moment for her to realize this wasn't going to work either.

It took only a glance upwards to identify the problem. A twisted look of amusement and exasperation crossed her face as she looked back at Fenrir. "Err...you know, this would be a lot easier if you'd just drop the damn Rolos. They'll fall down past the door and we can pick them up like normal as soon as we get your arm out of the machine. Sooner we get you both out of there, the sooner you get to eat, you know." While a bit disbelieving at this entire turn of events, Samantha couldn't keep the slight note of amusement from her voice either. Sadly, she hadn't had anything to distract her like this in a long time and it was strangely enough helping her forget the frustration of her own situation with the labs.

"I knoooow." he whined.

He was grateful- she didn't have to help him. She could have just left him stuck instead of even trying. it didn't stop this from being uncomfortable, though. The door pushed against his arm and hurt. The butter was melting against his arm and getting all warm and greasy and generally unpleasent.

No longer amused by the concept of being toast- or anything else that was generally buttered- he wriggled and tugged impatiently, whining a little bit more. Stupid vending machine. All he wanted was some candy!

At the suggestion to abandon his candy, he pouted at the girl warily. He looked at it and then finally sighed. He dropped it carefully, trying to wing it more towards the front to reduce the chance of it snagging on a coil. It clattered down successfully, waiting in the try to be retrieved.

"Booya!" he cheered, reflexively attempting to fist-pump his trapped arm.

He winced as the tenderized muscles were further abused by the attempted sudden movement (a failed movement at that- all he accomplished was hurting his arm and smacking his face up against the glass).

Now that he'd let go of the candy and relaxed his arm somewhat, things seemed like they'd be more easy-going, thank gods.

"Okay, let's try this again." he said with a look of determination. He reached up with his free hand and tugged his goggles down over his eyes.

Samantha cringed sympathetically as face met glass, and she shook her head sadly. "You don't learn too quickly, do you, friend?" She chuckled softly, reaching out and ruffling Fenrir's hair good-naturedly to show she meant no harm. She couldn't help but smile at the sight of the be-goggled boy and shook her head again before setting about the task at hand once more.

"Okay, ready? One, two, three!" Holding the door panel still so that it wasn't putting pressure on Fenrir's arm, Samantha did her best to determine where there was more resistance and adjust her hold accordingly. Hopefully, they'd manage to get him free this time. There was butter melting everywhere; all over the door, Fenrir's arm, the floor...

Be a hell of a clean-up job for someone. Hopefully, that creepy janitor.

The thought made Samantha smile.

Maybe she could even make things worse after this.

This seemed to do it!

With the butter, the assistance and extra force on the boy's part as well, Fenrir popped free, momentum sending him flat onto his back. He flexed his fingers a few times, wincing slightly at the soreness. He was free, though now he was on his back.

In a pool of butter.

The sad part was, this wasn't even the first time this had happened. Equally sad was that he had been coated in worse. The boy had a habit of finding trouble. With a little effort and some minor slipping, he finally managed to right himself again, squirming uncomfortably at the wet sensation the butter left all down the back of his shirt and up the arm. Oh ew, ew, ew! He put up with the feeling for about two seconds before pulling his shirt up and balling it up in his hands. Ah, much better. Still kinda greasy, though.

The lack of shirt made it evident that at some point during the day, the boy had started drawing a cityscape on his chest. A cityscape being ravaged by a large Seaking with the words 'HECK YEAH, SEAKING' scrawled across his abdomen. He didn't seem to care one way or the other about them, though. In fact, he didn't even seem to acknowledge the mural or the fact he had just randomly whipped his shirt off without warning.

At least he didn't get stuck in it while taking it off. That happened more than he'd like to admit.

Fenrir turned to Sam, grinning. "Thanks for helpin' me out there! I owe ya one!" he said, reaching for the tube of Rollos. He unwrapped the foil and happily popped on in his mouth. Oh yeah, that was totally worth it. He extended the tube to the girl, wiggling it a bit to offer his bounty. "Want some? They taste like victory. Also, a little like butter... but mostly victory."
