No one knows what brought Karma and Youko to Gaia, or what it was that drew them to each other, but they became fast and true friends. They shared in one another's joy, they cried on each other's shoulders, they even held each other's hair back during the worst of their hangovers if their respective better halves weren't there to do it. Like I said, true friends.

Now, as it so happened, God decided to prove one night that, not only did he exist, but he also had an exquisite sense of humor. While attending a friend's graduation party together, someone had failed to mention that the fruit punch Karma and Youko were guzzling so freely was alcoholic. As such, the two of them were well and truly soused by the time the night was over. Somehow, they managed to shamble their way back to Youko's where Karma promptly decided to fetch herself a Pepsi from the fridge.

It also happened, on this night, that she was wearing her only David Bowie shirt. Not only wearing it, but wearing it backwards. Youko, in the haze of his inebriation, happened to look up and spy a come-hither look from across the kitchen as his friend bent over to rummage out the soda.

And so, Youko did what any self-respecting gay male would do when faced with a silent invitation from David Bowie.

No one quite knows what transpired that night, only that the two of them awoke the next morning on the floor of the kitchen, both of them sore, and there was Pepsi EVERYWHERE. As Karma fetched Youko's boxers down from the top of the fridge, she decided quite fervently that nothing had happened. Youko was all too happy to agree with her on this and the two of them parted ways.

At least for awhile...

It didn't take long for Karma to start noticing her body going through some rather abnormal changes. Food wasn't staying down, her jeans stopped fitting, and she was much more sluggish than she once was. Her better sense assured her that she couldn't be pregnant because her fiancee, Dave (not Bowie), was sterile. When bedrest and antibiotics weren't helping, she eventually broke down and made herself an appointment at the Gaian Maternity and Fertility Clinic to get looked at.

Needless to say, Youko was quite surprised when she turned up on his doorstep not long afterward with her test results and in bad temper. If Karma was in bad temper, though, it was nothing compared to Envy's reaction.

In fact, both respective significant others took it rather badly at first. Youko was banished to Couchland and things between Karma and Dave were rather chilly for a few days. For awhile, Youko and Karma began to fear the worst for both of their relationships and began to talk tentatively over what was to be done about the pregnancy.

Time, as they say, heals all wounds and it wasn't long before Dave and Envy began to tentatively extend the olive branch toward their mates once more. It wasn't as though huffing and growling about it was going to make it go away, first of all, and second of all, the humor of all of this being caused by a David Bowie shirt had finally caught up to them. Amends made, the four of them began to make plans as the pregnancy carried itself to term.

God not only has a sense of humor, God also knows how to squeeze a joke for all its worth, as they soon found out. Karma went into labor several weeks early and was rushed to the GMFC where she birthed not one, but TWO babies. The twins, a boy and a girl, were named Raven Marie and Kendall Farrell.

Though both children appeared in Gaia's records as registered to Karma, she and Youko had a system of joint custody arranged where Youko would take them three nights out of the week, she would take them three nights out of the week, and on the last night, they would flip for it. It didn't matter to the twins, who were growing up to be quite well-adjusted already. Just as long as meals kept arriving on time and there was someone there to hold them, they were happy.

As they got older, however, this arrangement became strained. As they learned to walk, they also learned to shove and hit. As they learned to talk, it went hand-in-hand with learning the most debasing insults a child's mind is capable of and then applying them to one another. Before long, Kendall and Raven couldn't be kept in the same room together without there being a brawl.

Their parents humored it as best as they could, assuring each other it was only a phase every time one of them had a sleepless night or found a new gray hair. However, it became more and more apparant that they didn't have as much energy as they once did and their two little hellions were going to run them into the ground if they didn't do something. To quell the fighting, Youko moved into the house behind Karma's and kept Raven with him as Karma kept Kendall with her.

They were still able to visit one another whenever they liked, though it was clear that they'd decided they wanted nothing to do with one another when they didn't have to...at least for the moment.

Slowly, they began to mature. It didn't happen overnight, but in little doses. Sometimes Raven would forget to throw a fit if Kendall happened to be within visual distance of her. Other times Kendall would actually be caught wondering aloud what his sister was up to.

As they reached school age, Kendall discovered a pamphlet for a place known as the Somonen Academy at the local library. It seemed to be a school for magically-inclined (and older) students, but alas, they had neglected to put an age limit on the application. As such, since Kendall fulfilled the requirements, he was accepted into the student body.

Upon hearing that her brother would be going away to a special school for four months, Raven became annoyed and, always the competitive one, declared that she could do anything her brother could and submitted her own application. She, likewise, was accepted.

After spending a few months away from home, the two of them were sent back with the rest of the students due to complications with the building and staff. They resumed their schooling via Gaia's normal teaching facilities

As time went on, Raven and Kendall "blossomed" from a pair of squabbling children into a pair of lanky bickering teens. Their rivalry had abated a bit with age, but they still rose at every opportunity to get under one another's skin. It was, to be blunt, driving their parents crazy and some not-so-subtle hints were dropped that perhaps it was time for them to embark out into the world on their own.

After some difficulty finding roommates, it was proposed perhaps the twins would be better off simply sharing an apartment themselves, which worked fine for a bit, until it became apparent that their place was not worth what they paid to upkeep it.

Growing more disheartened by the month, eventually they sought other options. Namely, in the form of a fellow GMFC "graduate" seeking housemates. Raven and Kendall currently reside with Tourmaline in her parents' former home as renting tenants.

Physical Description: She stands about 5'6. She has a thin body due to her dabbling in a vegan diet, though manages to avoid overdoing it. Her body is covered in short, velvety fur which gives her a silvery-gray appearance, with a charcoal mask over her eyes, gray vulpine ears, and a ringed raccoon's tail.

Though most of her features appear anthro, she avoids such by maintaining a humanoid frame. Raven is most usually seen wearing loose, comfortable skirts, and blouses.

Sexuality: Unsure yet, she seems to stare at anyone who's good looking.

Personality: Outgoing, forceful, can be extremely defensive and aggressive when pushed. Raven works in a new age shop, so is very much a contradiction in terms. She's trying to calm her aggressive nature and channel it into other things like reading and meditation.

She has a large collection of crystals, tarot cards, and various other things that adorn her shelves. One would not peg her to be an MMO addict, but her evenings are spent in front of a computer screen kitten-herding the raiders in the guild that she and Kendall run in Warcraft.

Getting out on her own was a big step in hers and her brother's life and she thinks, all things considered, she has adjusted to the change well. A young adult now, the long-warred sibling rivalry with Kendall is mostly buried, except for occasional spats that come from living beneath the same roof.

Raven has long-battled with anxiety over the dating scene, uneasy about forming any hasty attachments after seeing the utter chaos that resulted from the unplanned pregnancies that befell her friends and family. After much debate and soulsearching (and the arrival of a tentacled nephew), she made the decision to have a hysterectomy, ensuring once and for all that she would never bring a new life into the world she was not prepared to care for.

In her eyes, this was a well-timed event as she has, finally, begun to know what it is to have feelings for someone else...

~ Youko's 'better half', and soulmate. Envy doesn't play as much of a role as Youko would like him to... but the incubus has issues of his own keeping up with a poolful of Nereids, and the decorative Oculai, Tabris. Still, he gets along well with Raven and when he would babysit her as a child, she was guaranteed bedtime avoidance and movies that her father would likely KILL his lover for showing her.

~ Karma's slightly-addled, but well-meaning husband and the twins' "other daddy". He stands by his beliefs strongly, for better or for worse, and doesn't stay angry at circumstances for very long before attempting to adapt to them which explains why he was so accommodating after the initial shock of everything wore off in the beginning. He counterpoints his wife's sometimes-brash thinking and smartassed nature very well

~ Karma's adopted fa'e son. While he and Kendall got along well when Arkie was a baby, things became rickety once they reached the same age bracket. Nowadays, Kendall views Arkie as an immense freeloading pain in the a** and quietly envies the fact the kelpie fa'e picks up women like fleas somehow.

~ Nozomi is Youko's Fa'e 'daughter', and has become a sister to Raven. While the two don't see eye to eye often (or at all), they do have a bond that comes only with sharing living space for so long. Where Raven represents the feminine aspect of things, Omi tends to act more like one of the guys.

~ Yeande is Talonfaust's better half. Her origins are hazy and, for a time, she and her mate lived under Karma and Youko's respective rooftops before beginning a family of their own and striking out for greener pastures. She still visits from time-to-time, having known the twins since they were small children and feeling, at least somewhat, bonded to them.

~ A former denizen of Karma's household. He doesn't much care for anyone and everyone reciprocates by not caring much for him right back. The only being on the face of the planet that he goes to any pains to be civil to is his wife, Yeande. Raven and Kendall, however, love taking potshots at him just to count the veins in his neck when he gets angry.

~ Back in his days at the Somonen Academy, Kendall was one of the students chosen to receive a scroll which would summon a larith. Unfortunately, shortly afterward, the school closed and the staff dispersed for parts unknown, leaving him with the odd pinkish scroll and no clue what to do with it. For years, it sat in his closet forgotten and then, perhaps due to restless magic within, one day it disintegrated, releasing its long-held familiar.

As the fox larith could not recall her given name, Kendall took to calling her Kiki. The larith, permanently stunted to child as the incantations that would have helped her grow are long-since forgotten, seems content with her place in life as Kendall's life-in imp and troublemaker.
