His legs propped up on an ancient-looking endtable and his head leaned against the back of the squashy armchair by the fire, the only Gryffindor member of the Ancient and Most Noble House of Black was drifting off to sleep.
It was definately warranted, too. After all, he'd been studying for a major Transfiguration exam involving the animation of inanimate objects. He was tinkered out.
Sirius Black gazed into the hearth, letting his thoughts drift toward a certain someone... a certain someone with ash blonde hair and a heartening smile and Yvonne.
No'm. I mustn't forget about Yvonne.

After coming through the portrait hole, Lily walked into the Gryffindor Common Room. She noticed someone sitting in one of the armchairs. "Hello Sirius. How are you doing?"

Sirius jumped. When he turned around and saw that it was Lily, he tried to feign that she hadn't startled him. He shook his head out of his stupor and said, "I'm doing fine, Miss Evans. And how are you?"

"I'm doing fine, thank you. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you..." Lily decided to sit down in a chair next to the fire. She was feeling slightly chilled.

"Don't worry about it, love. I was just a little startled is all.
How's your transfiguration going? Did you ever get a hang of that spell I taught you?"

"Transfiguration is going good, but what spell did you teach me?" Lily looked at Sirius confused. She couldn't figure out what he was talking about.

"The one you were having trouble with; animating inanimate objects."
Sirius yawned, stifling it with his hand, before turning to look at her. So forgetful.

"Oh, yea. I'm doing much better. Thanks." Lily looked around and noticed the common room was quite empty. "Where do you think everybody is?"

"I dunno. Wha' time is it?" he asked, rolling onto his side in her direction. His whole body was sore and stiff.

"I'm not sure...If you tell me where the clock is, I'll tell you what time it is. But by guessing the time by how tired I am and how deserted it is, I would say that it's either really late, or really early." Lily resituated in her chair trying to get a bit more compfortable.

Sirius sat up and looked around. He did not remember where the time went. It seemed like evening still, but it was too dark for that to be so.
He pulled a pocketwatch, a fancy one James's parents had given him this past Christmas, and flipped it open.
"Half-past midnight, Lil. That leaves me to wonder what you're doing out so late... early, I mean."
He waggled an eyebrow, and grinned.

"I was in the library looking for a book for the Charms paper. Have you started on it yet?" Lily knew this wasn't true, but it was a good alibi being she did have a Charms paper to do...

"No, not really. But I'm sure Remus has, and he usually helps."
Thank goodness for Moony.

"Does he help, or do it for you?" Lily cocked one eyebrow, giving him the 'what-excuse-are-you-going-to-use-this-time' look.
