TIPS!

Here you may submit tips that everyone should know about cooking or baking. Pm me if you have something to add, or just simply post! ^_^

-Always remember when baking brownies and muffins, you MUST stir the liquid parts with the dry parts JUST until combined, or they will rise like a cake. So they stay moist! And always sift all dry parts together so the powders are evenly spread out in the batter.

- With cakes, it is o.k to stir like mad, because they will come out fluffy! (unless stated otherwise)

I will continue to add more, but its a lot of work scanning magazines and re-writing recipes, xD;

Does anyone know how I can share a word document on here? is that possible? Am I going to have to make it a picture and put it on photobucket? '-'

Does the article have pictures? If not, then why not just copy and paste the text into a post and just state the source where you got it.

I'll post a link to one of my pies as soon as I find it xD.

SPAGHETTI FROM HEAVEN!
ONE-POT SPAGHETTI SUPPER (THIS RECIPE IS AMAZING!)

1 lb Lean ground beef 500 g
2 Cloves garlic, minced
1 Onion, chopped
1tbsp Dried Italian herb seasoning 15 mL
3 cups Milk 750 mL
1 cup Hot water 250 mL
12 oz Spaghetti, broke in half 375 g
3 cups Pasta sauce (1 jar) 750 mL
1 sweet red or green pepper, diced
1 tbsp Balsamic or red wine vinegar 15 mL
½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil leaves (optional)

1. In a large pot, brown beef over medium high heat breaking up with a spoon; drain off fat. Add garlic, onion and herbs; cook, stirring, for about 3 min or until onion is tender. Add milk and water; bring to a simmer. Stir in broken spaghetti; return to simmer, stirring often.
2. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for about 5 min, stirring once, until spaghetti is wilted. Stir in pasta sauce and red pepper; cover and simmer, stirring often and adding more hot water if necessary to prevent sticking, for about 10 minutes longer or until pasta is tender. Stir in balsamic vinegar. Serve sprinkled with cheese. Garnish with basil (if using).

THIS IS THE SPAGHETTI RECIPE FROM THE 'COOKING' POST.

Okay! This is one of my favorite cookie recepies - Healthy Banana Cookies!

Here's the link.

So this is what's amazing about these cookies - there's no eggs, milk, flour, or sugar added to it. It's only oats, bananas, vegetable oil, and vanilla. So they're perfect for people who want to lose weight/eat healthy, diabetics, or people allergic to dairy products. While it may seem like they're not that good, they're actually extremely delicious. And they don't dry out easily, so even a couple of days later they're still moist.

TIPS - It says on the recipe to add dates, but my sister and I replaced them with chocolate chips (meaning ours weren't as heathy XD). The dates can be replaced with any type of addings that you like, so feel free to change it up. As, keep in mind that since these cookies lack flour, they don't spread much while baking, so the size you put them on the sheet is the size they'll be. I try to keep them small so that they're more bite-size.

Need quick and easy, but delicious recipe to bring to a POT LUCK?

My mother and i use this recipe every time when we go to family pot-luck, we end up getting recipe-requests from people who haven't tried it yet, and for our family, they look forward to it!

Broccoli Salad

1 big bunch Broccoli, chopped, smaller than bite size pieces
12 Bacon strips, crumbled, or about 1 cup of pre-made bacon bits.
1 cup Toasted sunflower seeds
1/2 cup Raisins
1 small red onion, finely chopped.

Dressing:
1 Cup Mayonnaise or salad dressing (I suggest mayo)
1/2 cup Sugar (1/3cup works fine)
2 tbsp Vinegar

Combine chopped broccoli, bacon, sunflower seeds, raisins, and chopped red onion. In a separate bowl, whisk mayo, sugar and vinegar together. just before serving, combine the dressing with salad and toss well.

IMPORTANT NOTICE! I have found that the dressing is 2x what you need to add to the salad, so I suggest doubling the salad part to use up all the salad dressing. These portions to make the salad are a little small for a get-to-gether, but perfect for a side dish with your own family. =)

Tips for the perfect brownie batch! heart heart
I might as well post this, just in case some of you don't know =)

Remember, brownies seem to be very forgiving and allow experimenting with the recipe itself.

- If the brownie comes out fluffy and cake like, and you want it denser, and you didn't over stir the batter...Try reducing the flour by 1/3.

-If the brownie comes out cake like and raised like a cake (I've done that)
Then try this. When you have the moist part of the recipe combined, and the dry ingredients combined, make sure the dry ingredients are in a bigger bowl. make a dip in the middle of the dry ingredients, like a crater. Pour the wet ingredients into the crater slowly, tiring only a little bit at a time, until all the wet ingredients are in the bowl, make sure you only stir (BY HAND) the batter, until no flour-like ingredients are left dry. try just folding it all over with the spoon. No vigorous stirring allowed! this is not the recipe to flow all your anger too! ^_^'

- Be sure to stay in the kitchen, or very close to watch your brownies carefully, brownies can change a lot in a couple of minutes. make sure you follow the time suggestions, and judge it by your ovens history, like if your oven is known to be hotter, or not hot enough.
Always check your brownies a few minutes before the suggested amount of time. Do this with a tooth pick, if it comes out clean for cakey-er brownies, they are done. If the toothpick comes out with wet crumbs and your making a dense brownie, they are done.

-If your brownies are burning at the edges and the inside is still wet batter, you've stirred the batter too much. I learned this the hard way! xD
