Wobbly legs shook as an uncertain and relatively new foal to the world wandered about with her mother close behind her. Dark red eyes, the same as her mother’s, stared in slight confusion as the world around her was alive with so many things, so many things that she could not comprehend everything at once. Her mother Amara decided to bring one of her to the beach since she seemed to come by so often. The mare made sure to keep the foal in sight but let Sienna poke around and discover the terrain for herself.

The gray foal made her way around the beach, poking her nose into the sand occasionally, only to snort and sneeze the sand right back out. Lesson number one… sand plus nose do not mix. With hoof and nose, the foal pushed around some rocks and shells, noting their colors. Some were colored like a cloud: white and creamy. Others were multicolored and had a little of everything. Sienna liked those kinds of shells. They were interesting. Carefully, the gray foal made her way up to the water’s edge and sniffed at the salty air. No, salt didn’t smell very good she deduced… it irritated her nose…

Zuriel had worked his way back over to the beach. When there was little else to do all day he found himself coming here. The four-legged creatures that lived on land were strange but at least they relieved his boredom, and he had learned a lot too. He rose out of the water and looked about. He thought he saw Amara, a mare that he'd met not too long ago but soon his sight was transfixed on one thing.

It was deformed or something. It was short, much smaller than Amara and Verloren and its legs didn't quite look like they should be able to support it. It was wandering about in the sand, doing all sorts of weird things. "Er..." he stared at it trying to think of what to say and so when something popped into his mind he said it without thinking. "You remind me of a shrimp."

The gray foal was sniffing at the sand again, her head was tipped down, and legs spread outward a little bit so that she could come into closer contact with the sand. A strange sound echoed over the crashing of the cold waves as the foal suddenly jerked her eyes high enough to look at the origin of the sound. Sienna’s dark red eyes stared at the water creature with a bewildered expression. At first, there was a sense of curiosity and puzzlement for she didn’t know that others that looked like her and her family could swim in the ocean for a long time… perhaps she could try- But the thought was abruptly frozen in a moment at the stallion’s latter, unintentional comment.

The foal blinked at the water soquili for a moment, confused by what his words meant… After a long time of pondering, she still didn’t understand the other’s words… But, whatever they meant, poor Sienna got unexpectedly angry at the other. Her curious eyes turned to that of scorn and dislike. The foal clenched her teeth and seemingly glared at the water soquili, or tried to anyway. With a deep grumble, she walked up to the water’s edge, turned her back on the colorful creature and proceeded to kick sand in the other’s direction with no feelings of remorse whatsoever. If she could sort out words right now and say it she would have said, “Stupid thing, stupid thing, stupid thing”, or something equivalent to that.

Zuriel drew back in horror. What is she doing?! I didn't do anything wrong! He tried to dodge the sand and fretted at the clouding water around him, how nasty it looked. Maybe she didn't like being called a shrimp...but they're so cute and little!

"I'm sorry! I'M SORRY!" He yelled at her, unsure of what to say to ease her anger. Then again if he knew what she was angry about that would help. His third encounter with the surface world and the little one hated him. He almost wanted to cry, what had he done wrong?!

Dark red eyes stared as the young foal stopped and turned to look at the adult male… who looked absolutely ridiculous at the moment, darting around the now murky sea water. Sienna looked at the sea creature’s face and noticed that he had a very unhappy and almost anguished look… almost as if he were going to…

Wobbly legs behind the little foal gave out from beneath her as the surf started to rush in due to the rushing tides. The foal yelp and landed in an awkward position, her fore legs kept her body stable but her back legs were sprawled over the sand… her tail and rear were getting wet too… In a total 180, the foal’s expression changed from scorn to sudden anguish as the foal was the first to start crying.

Zuriel immediately felt a rush of...redemption. He snorted with laughter and slapped the water with his tail. He tried to hold it in but a howl of laughter left his mouth. He couldn't help it the shrimp just looked so...so ridiculous!

After he got ahold of himself he felt ashamed. The poor thing was crying, and looked to be in a mighty uncomfortable situation. Feeling bad he tried to fix the situation. "I'm sorry for laughing, are you ok? Can you get back up?"

Tears continued to flow from the foal’s dark red eyes as she shook in the cold water. She felt miserable and completely dejected. The sea creature’s laughing did not help at all in the matter. With a quiet whimper, the little foal did not even acknowledge the other’s existence. It had already made a fool of her… and now… now… She no longer could put any words together in her mind. Everything was a complete blur. The only thing that she could do was…

Dark red eyes became flooded with tears once again as the foal suddenly raised her head and screamed with anguish. It was ear shattering and it looked like she wasn’t going to stop for a very, very long time… At this rate, her mother was definitely going to come over. Sienna didn’t care. She wanted her mother to teach the sea thing a lesson. And so, the foal began to wail even louder.

As Zuriel's ears shattered he went frantic. He had just laughed at her! It wasn't like he'd pushed her or anything! He put his head underwater but the screaming was just as bad if not worse than before. He swam closer.

"Please stop!" he tried to yell over her but wasn't even sure if she could hear him. "I really am sorry!" He had no idea what to do. Actually he wasn't even sure how such a noise could come from something so small. He just wanted it to be over.

Despite the sea creature’s attempt to comfort the poor foal, she did not back down from her screaming assault. She hated it, or something equivalent to the feeling of hatred. She wanted the thing to go away because it caused nothing more then unhappiness for her. She wanted the thing gone and out of her sight… and she would get what she wanted no matter what.

A dark colored mare perked up her ears just enough to listen to the crashing waves and the echoes of the sea… or, she should have heard that… With a frown, dark red eyes, similar to that of the foal, gazed forward as a mare slowly edged out of her slumbering nap. “Oh great. What now?” the mare couldn’t help but grumble. It was clear to her that something caused her little girl to throw a fit… Slowly, the mare walked towards the beach until her sleek, black figure could be seen in the distance.

Zuriel did absolutely nothing...useful. He splashed about trying to think of what to do, he pleaded at her to stop, he appologized, nothing seemed to work.

There was one last resort. Humor the thing. "Look at me!" He called out. He began making funny faces as best as he could. He knew it was a bad idea but he was desperate.

There was no stopping the poor foal and her rampage… No one could save the sea creature now!

Ears flattened close to her head, the dark colored mare looked at the scene with black stare. The Gods of the Earth were probably mad at the mer soquili or something because Zuriel had no luck whatsoever when it came to land soquili… or foals anyway. She feared for the day that he’d have his own children… but that was for another time and day.

The foal would have continued on and on with her screaming if her voice would allow for it. If it weren’t for the sudden intervention, she honestly would have disturbed the natural order of the world it seemed. Wet eyes looked up to see a dark colored mare quietly nibbling away at her daughter’s short mane.

“Honestly… what am I going to do with you?” Amara replied quietly. Finally, some peace returned to the beach.

"I...I did...I didn't...I wouldn't...I couldnt..." Zuriel stuttered as he tried to explain himself. He hadn't meant to hurt the poor little shrimps feelings. And now Amara probably hated him as well. He began feeling a bit depressed, he was a horribly mer. He floated on top of the water, watching with concern as the little one was quieted. Maybe...maybe this would get cleared up...maybe it would be ok...

Dark red eyes kindly looked over the little foal as the small thing continued to stiffle cries of sadness. Nudging the foal slightly, the mare licked away her child's salty tears. "Now Sienna. Stop fussing like that. You know that you're disturbing other creatures...

Darker, eviler looking red eyes stared upwards as the foal pinned down her ears at her mother's firm voice. Carefully nipping the longer end of the mare's mane, Sienna pulled at her mother towards the evil sea creature and his wrong doings. He was going to get his punishment!

A long sigh escaped Amara as she easily figured out that something happened between Sei and silly Zuriel. Nudging her child gently to the side, Amara looked up at the mer stallion with firm eyes and asked one simple question, "What did you do this time?"

Zuriel was perfectly safe out in the middle of the ocean. No land-bound soquili could hope to catch up to him. But that one question...that one look and he was cringing away from the mare.

"I didn't mean to do anything...I just said that it reminded me of a shrimp...and then I laughed when she started crying..." He spoke quietly, not able to be aggressive at all towards Amara and the small thing.

The older mare shook her head with a strange, stifled snerk. "Wow. You honestly say what's on your mind don't you? Well... first and foremost, this little foal here is not an 'it'. Let me introduce you to my daughter, this impish little filly here. Her name is Sienna." The dark colored mare walked around the foal and lightly nudged her on the rump to greet the mer stallion but noticed that the younger defiantly refused. "My, my. Even though she doesn't know the language very well yet she seems to get that shrimp isn't a very nice name..." Walking towards the ocean, but stopping a few feet before the water, Amara bowed her head slightly to properly greet the mer. "Well, while we're at it, my name is Amara. Sorry for not introducing myself earlier."
