The Blank Show opens tomorrow. It is a juried gallery show where artists submitted art based around the sentence "Life without _______ is incomplete." Artists were to make a painting about what the "blank" is to them.
For me it is painting to after some conceptualizing, I came up with an idea and went to work.
Here is my process from beginning to end. Towards the end I was in such a time crunch that I didn't bother scanning my process, so there is much more of a jump. I was working on multiple pieces at that point.
All I have is my sig image since the final scan is on my computer at home. I think you can see it well enough though.

its so well done that when i first saw it

i thought it was a picture of yourself that you photomanipped to look that way

also you did this pretty quickly, also impressive

my only beef is i wish that your face or expression
conveyed more like you couldnt live without doing what your doing

its kind of blank looking im not feeling your passion for art
(or a smile is nice too)

otherwise, great job ;}

I thought about that too, actually.
But I decided that I wanted to show what my face actually looks like when I'm painting... very expressionless because I keep everything I'm thinking focused in my head.
I took a lot of reference of me approaching the process realistically.
For my next series I'm hoping to show a lot more expression in various folks' faces.

She is an illustrator. Perhaps what she is illustrating reflects what she is thinking. The bunny egg is holding a brush like she is. She is painting, thinking about painting.

Needless to say, the figure is well done, even without comparing it to the time span you've worked on it. Reflections, textures, they're all fine.

A couple jumps look a little drastic. I wonder what media you used in the making of it.

Its all done in acrylic.

I know nothing about acrylics. Is the change of hues due to the scanner, or did it actually happen on the board? If so, how do you control such things?

A little of it in the end is from the scanner, but that is pretty close to the actual painting.
I changed it on the board with washes. It makes it easier to change the hue of skin and whatever when you paint in washes... or even if you just use them over whatever style you are using.
