Fönn Ardea starred across an open field. What she was looking at not even she knew really. This was her first time away from her father, but she didn't seem to be worried. This was one of her odd days, where she wasn't her cheerful side, she is distant and sorrowful instead.

Her bright red hair flowed in the breeze while her ice tail stood still, twinkling in the sunlight. Fönn Ardea didn't mind the chilly breeze she could sense the sweet smell of spring looming closer and closer.

"I wonder if my tail will melt come the warm weather. I would sure hate to be tailless." She said a loud in a dreamy voice as though she was speaking with someone right beside her.

Was he honest? No. Was he even remotely interested in what others had to say? Rarely. All in all, to say that this particular stallion was a meglomaniac and completely self obsessed would have been an understatement. If something didn't appeal to him, it was nothing other than dust beneath his hooves. Alternatively, if something didn't agree with him or disobeyed them then they felt his wrath...This happened more often than not and thus he had often been accused of an inclination towards violent tendencies.

To be honest, that assumption would be entirely accurate given that the ends justified the means in his books. He always got what he wanted.

In particular, he was most obssessed with gathering exotic and beautiful possessions for his enjoyment. Whether they be small creatures, flowers or something much larger remained to be seen. Alas, he hadn't come to the Kawani lands to acquire anything other than one jewel - that of his heir who had consequently vanished into thin air and become an absolute failure. This particular stallion's pride could not handle that...thus he had sworn to reform his heir.

Unfortunately, searching for said heir was much like searching for a needle in a hay stack and not one of these useless creatures knew of his whereabouts. It was appalling, the winged male often felt sick to his stomach due to the failings of his son.

Ah, but having wandered in solitude for the next few days in an attempt to locate yet another worthless wretch to interrogate he had slowly but surely begun to lose hope in any form of intelligent or beautiful life existing in these 'barren' lands. Therefore, it was with some pleasure that his ers caught the faint whispers of a chattering female and upon approach the ethereal glowig eyes caught sight of the most unusual soquili indeed.

"Well, well, well..." he purred softly under his bath, observing the peculiar mare for a brief time. Intrigued by her pelt, the way in which every colour complimented her form... Ah, he knew this feeling all too well, one would be a moron to accuse him of lust or love. No, this was the possessive urge he often got when he spotted something quite so pretty. He wanted her, and he wanted her now regardless of whether or not she said yes.

Flicking his tail against his flank, the male ruffled his rather large wings and approached the mare in a relaxed manner. Less inclined to harm her for fear of ruining that little pelt, he was more than happy to try an 'alternative' option of claiming his prize. Should she refuse then he would deal with her with greater force ut until then...

"They say that conversing with oneself is a sign of madness, m'lady..."

Fönn Ardea's head turned slowly as though she was having troubles pulling her gaze away from the unseen. Her face was pointing in his direction, but her eyed seemed to stare strait through him for a moment or two.

Suddenly her eyes widened as she seemed to awaken from a slumber in which her eyes were closed. This was something she did often on days like these. When her mind wasn't really all there.

Fönn's eyes narrowed as she took in the stallions appearance, he was even more different then she was. Being different was something she was unsure about, was it right? Was it wrong? She knew it couldn't be helped though.

"Perhaps I am mad. It would go nicely with my frozen tail that won't move. Don't you think?" Fönn Ardea laughed before looking back over the clearing.

"Am I bothering you by talking out loud?" This seemed to be a serious inquiry, not the slightest bit of mockery was intended.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 31, 2008 4:33 am

"I fail to see how a frozen tail would make one mad," Kiyoshi replied smoohly, raising a brow in a way that seemed to be emphasised by the glow of his eyes. Truly, that ethereal glow could be haunting at times but it did have its uses. After all, how many soquili could claim to have such a thing? Similarly, given their rarity it gave him the perfect excuse to further develop his superiority complex!

Nevertheless, her odd response and the manner in which she initially looked at him was somewhat...strange. While the male could not claim to have found a kindred spirit her gaze had an almost haunting quality that intrigued him all the more. Clearly, there was something she could see that he couldn't...something she could hear and he wanted it all. In due time, he would have it too.

"Your tail is extravagant, beautiful." Flattery had its uses, he would sink so low as to compliment a lesser when it suited him, "It sets you apart from another. If anything you have greater appeal than any I have stumbled upon before m'lady." Now would be he time to stop and thus he silenced himself as he glanced back towards her firey locks - they were in startling contrast to her tail and yet...they seemed to fit. Where had this little specimen been hiding when he had arrived?

"You may speak as loudly as you desire though, provided you are heard by whatever it is you desire to reach of course," he added after a few moments. This may have sounded as though he was prepared to listen to her chatter but in all honesty, he had a knack for 'zoning out' when he grew weary of such things. He could simply stare...and picture the perfect place to keep her whiel she went on and on about something he had little interest in.

"It doesn't, but then again...what does make one mad? Her parents? No... the way she is born? Maybe? Or is it just that someone is mad because they feel more free to do as they please? Someone could be mad from jealousy though, or mad for revenge. Which mad were we speaking of sir?"

Fönn Ardea Looked back at the stallion as though she was a little bit more interested in him then before.

"I think you are a liar. But then again to your logic, I'm mad so why worry what I think." Her head twitched to a tilt. "Then again your eyes don't seem to lie, in their unchanging glow, as though I could see right into you, but then again that's what eyes are portals to the soul. If we have them?"

"What makes you take interest in a mare that may or may not be mad, sir?" Her eyes narrowed slightly, but then widened as though she saw something behind him though of course there was nothing there.

Could she read his mind? Truly he had never been an open book and strived to maintain such secrecy. To be an open book left him weak and vulnerable, he was the one who needed to be in charge, who needed to make the decisions and so forth. Thus, it took all his self control not to start at such a blunt observation - how was it possible that he could be wrong and could have misjudged what treasures lay within the Kawani?

Truly, the mare was more and more fascinating.

"I make no claims in relation to your sanity, they were your words," Regathering his composure, he kept his expression loose and continued to observe the mare, her flickering expession a constant source of entertainment. One moment her youthful features would be grave and the next, alive with surprise. To say she was difficult to read was an understatement but that was the good thing about his treasures - he kept them for as long as was necessary to uncover their secrets.

"But you would be right - I am a liar and a good one at that," there was no point in hiding, everything he said seemed to be interpreted in an entirely different way than he intended it to be. Thus, he would drop his tact in that regard and use brutal honesty just as she had chosen to. "You deem this to be a problem or -" his words were cut short as she glanced behind him and with carcely a shift of his weight he too looked over his shoulder out of interest.

...What was it she could see?

"Tell me, what is it you see beyond the veil of sight that I cannot?" he probed softly.

Fönn Ardea could read no one's mind she only spoke of what flitted into her confused and jumbled mind. Her ears twitched as the stallion was speaking, but her eyes didn't focus just yet.

"Don't you though? You are the one that made me question it were you not?" She began to walk forwards slowly without looking away from him her eyes focused once more.

"If you are a liar and a good one at that, are you telling the truth? I mean you would have to be, or would you? Really an interesting statement sir." Her eyes lite with life over the puzzle that she had made about what he had said.

"A problem with the fact that you might lie or that you have taken an interest in me? I really don't have a problem with either really." She looked away from him for a moment and narrow her eyes. "Or do I? No I don't think so."

Fönn Ardea looked back to the strange stallion taking one more step forwards. "Tell you what I see? Do you really want to know? I don't think you do." Her voice fell to a whisper before she looked forwards her eyes unfocused once more.

Ah, she gathered so many questions from so few words. She chattered to herself, occupied her own mind and much to his surprise he didn't find it irritating. More peculiar was the manner in which he smirked upon her series of 'rhetorical' questions. He had been frank, she had chosen to overthink and thus they moved in the same circle, returning to their initial starting point.

She was the perfect little treasure.

So inherently confused by her own words, it took little effort for Kiyoshi to encourage doubt. with her mind occupied, logical thought didn't seem to be something she had much of and while he needed to be careful in maintaining this...this did provide him with a little more freedom than he had previously assumed he would have.

"I made a general observation, I did not claim you were insane. On the contrary your mind seems perfectly settled," his expression was grave as he continued to watch her, choosing not to move as she approached though there were few who invaded his personal space. "In relation to whether or not I am being honest, I leave that up to you..." the smile returning to his lips, he canted his head to the side an waited.

...had she just said she didn't mind the interest?

"If you would rater I provide you with space, that much I can provide..." he pured gently, though this was not strictly true. Merely a test to see how she would react to the threat of being left to her own devices again.

Fönn Ardea's eyes narrowed and a smirk was brought momentarily on to her lips. She suddenly looked away as though the smile was something he wasn't meant to see. She mumbled in an inaudible tone for a moment before looking back at the Stallion.

"No no, space is not something I need stallion....It's just" She broke off she had been about to something else till she realized she didn't have a name to call him.

"What's your name? If I'm to remember you I need a name." Fönn Ardea sounded worried about this like she wouldn't be able to remember him if she didn't get his name. Which was true on days like this she had problems remembering things and this stallion was to interesting to be soon forgotten.

He had her, the expression on her face was too perfect for him to be wrong in this assumption. While her mind was clearly unsettled, flitting back and forth between thougths he would be unlikely to comprehend, the necessity to know his identity was the signal he had been waiting upon. When one requested a name it meant that in some form of another you had 'hooked' them. Personally, he had never required a name for any of his treasures, he gave them names he preferred but they were to know his name.

...Even those who deemed themselves his enemy were to know his name. It made life so much easier that way, for others to be aware of his very existence before he even opened his mouth made it more fun. Most especially if the treasure knew of his nature and put up a chase - one in which he always made certain to win regardless of whatever questionnable means needed to be employed.

"I am most honoured by your response, in return I will answer your question," An amicable smile flitting onto his lips given the ease of the encounter, "I am known as Kiyoshi Yukio," he was not about to enquire information such as her name for himself, he would either pick it up or rename is potential possession at a later date. That being said, they had a habit of automatically introducing themselves anyway...such silly creatures.

Names were powerful things.

"It is just...what?" he pushed at last, following his answer to her question.

Fönn Ardea nodded her head and closed her eyes tightly. Her Unsettled mind was not as scattered as it appeared, but there were two sides of her. She could change from day to day once side of her was wrapped in her own thoughts some less pleasant then the other. Some that even frighted her, but she had no way of stopping them. The other side was free of her thoughts specially the darker ones. Sometimes she wondered why she couldn't stay that way, but she couldn't no matter how she fought it.

"Fönn Ardea." She replied opening her eyes. Though it was her name it didn't seem to be an introduction. She seemed to be moving on to his pushing for her to go on.

"Fönn meaning snow or ice while Ardea means fire. Two things so different that they fight each other, yet they have been put together in one name, Fönn Ardea Ice and Fire...." She stopped for a moment to look at him once more, should he really tell this stallion about her.

Fönn Ardea's eyes narrowed as starred at his eyes with an intensity she hadn't shown till now. As though she was asking them questions her mouth left unspoken. She held the gaze till the wind blew her red hair to block her eyes. When the hair had moved away her eyes had returned to looking at nothing at all.

There it was, her introduction and he hadn't had to utter a single word. Truly he was beyond good at reading the general habits of those creatures that existed around him. In certain circumstances they were open books, easily read and thus easily led. While her mind for the most part may have been a blur to him, she still stuck to the general protocols of any sociable creature - whether she wanted to or not.

Even so, as the mare spoke once more he found himself fixated on each part of her glorious little form that she chose to mention. From her glowing mane to her rigid tail, he found his gaze trailing along her body for a brief time as he considered her words. Never one to reassure anyone, never deeming it necessary to comfort another it took him quite a number of minutes to realise that normal, weaker soquili would pander to her comments.

He had to think quickly.

Choosing to ignore her penetrating gaze for the time being he pursed his lips briefly and recounted her words. A rare thing indeed for an individual who rarely listened to anyone other than those who had information he wanted.

"On the contrary, without either that would be certain creatures who could not exist in this world," he was of course referring to humans and their otherwise weak behaviour and ridiculous needs, "Fire melts ice into water, fire keeps certain creatures warm...and should fire get out of hand then the melted ice can satiate its hunger and tame it..."

That sounded reasonable. He congratulated himself.

'I would argue they represent balance more than conflict."

Eyes coming back into focus, she frowned that had not been how she wanted him to react. How had she wanted him to react though? Maybe it upset her more that she could not read his eyes. They wouldn't betray anything to her, much like her father's half blind eyes, though as she caught him looking her over she knew he was not blind.

"Perhaps, but perhaps you did not get my meaning." Fönn Ardea didn't mean to, but her voice sounded harsher than before. She searched her mind for another representative that couldn't be argued as a balance, but none came. Perhaps her two sides were a balance of her. That couldn't be how could a soquili be two, but one as well?

"Forget the meanings." Fönn Ardea turned away from him. How much did this Kiyoshi want to know about her anyways. Why did he bother? Why did he care?

"What is it you want of me?" Her voice was cold and rigid. She did not let on that she was starting to get suspicious of him other then the question itself. If he gave her a good reason maybe she would tell him more about her, but for now she was done. Her gaze fell to the ground before her as she wait for him to speak.

Easy, easy...

He didn't have any desire to scare the petite mare away. Fascinated by her very form and by her behaviour he couldn't afford to lose her just yet. She provided entertainment on a whole new level, in a manner that he rarely experienced. That beign said, the very fact that he had talked for such an extended period of time was odd in itself - clearly the Kawani lands were rubbing off on him.

Urgh.

Nevertheless, her sudden hostility did alert him to the fact that if he were to keep this little treasure he was going to have to play a slightly different game. He didn't want to soil this one, he wanted to keep it pure and therefore force was not a viable option. Amicable treasure as much more desirable, particularly when he had the desire to speak to it on a much more 'level' platform than anything else around him.

"Answers," he replied after a few moments, allowing the mare to maintain her distance though his gaze remained firmly fixed on her hostile form, "I am new to these lands after all, it is difficult to find what one seeks when they cannot even begin to fathom where to start."

Answers? What was that supposed to mean? If he simply wanted directions would he not ask and be done with it? He most want more that that surely? Should she give it to him or let him find a way to ask the questions in which lay answers he sought?

Fönn Ardea seemed to calm as she thought about what he could want. Her eyes focused on him taking him in fully once more. His figure seemed to cry out for him to distrust him, but she almost felt like she couldn't.

"I will give you answers if it is in my will or capability to do so. So ask your questions when you are ready, sir for I await them." Fönn said giving her tail a flick the light reflected from it making it sparkle ever so slightly.
