On nights like these, Hayagriva couldn't help but remember and wonder. He remembered catching his first glimpse of a true kalona through the haze of black. He remembered the way she had filled him with such excitement at the chance of kinship. He had wanted to know her, but... he couldn't help but cringe when remembering the results.
It wasn't just the scars that now adorned his nose and sides. It was remembering his behavior on that day. He could blame her for hurting him but he could easily be blamed for the same. She may have attacked first but he was the one who came uninvited into her territory. Even a regular mare might take offense at that. It was really only natural that she had lashed out at him, kept lashing out as he retaliated. Maybe if he came back then this time she wouldn't be as surprised and this time she wouldn't-
He cast his gaze downwards from the dark sky. He had been through these thoughts over and over again. What if he went back. He could apologize. He could explain. He could try to get to know her a little better and try to understand why she was the way she was. That's what he had always been taught. Never hate, always understand. When you understand someone well enough you know why they think that way and therefore cannot blame them for it. He wanted to know who that blood red kalona was and why. He wanted to know her because he wanted to know himself. Kalona blood.
He couldn't help but look back up at the stars. It was still early in the night. He could set off and be back before sunrise if he didn't dawdle. He could sneak over and no one would be the wiser, no one but the kalona, of course. He could do it and tonight he would. He had run from her once so it was too late to worry about becoming a coward. He began to wind his way through the forest paths, making his way back towards the river and the valley where they had first met. This time would be different. He wouldn't hurt her. He would try not to let her hurt him but wouldn't inflict any damage back. He was Hayagriva and didn't hurt others.
This time, he only hoped he could remember it.

A flash of crimson in the darkness glittered in the silver light of the moon. The Kalona female stalked quietly through the shadows, at home in the darkness. She was on the prowl, but with no particular prey. Patroling the perimiter of her homeland and making sure that the signs of her living here where clear.
Bones littered the ground, rot and decay festering on the forest floor, drawing in the caron feeders and the hungry preditors that wouldnt mind stealing a fresh kill. Domnu didnt mind them, for no wolf or wild cat would dare cross her.
She folded her wings against her back and gave a small snort, all this was done as a way to hopefully keep others from disterbing her. More for their own safty than her own, but she wanted it well known that she had laid claim to this little patch of ground, her hunting grounds and where she slept, and she would not take kindly to strangers.
Domnu rolled her shoulders, a dull ache along her back where a pink scar was slowly begining to fade into the rest of her crimson fur. Little did she know that foolishness would prevail and that she would meet the stallion that had given her that scar once again.

Haya's pace slowed as he started to get into familiar territory. He remembered those trees and the way they seemed to grasp the stars out of the sky. He had only ever been to this place by night and wondered if it would look nearly so threatening in the day. He smiled dryly to himself. It probably would. It was the feeling that made it threatening, not the look itself. The first time he had been here, before he had seen the kalona, he hadn't thought anything was wrong.
He heard a crunch after he placed down a hoof and looked down in disgust to see a half-gnawed bone. He was very close, now. His nostrils filled with the scent of decay and nausea began to add to his tension. Even through all this he kept going. He had spent far too long deciding to come out here in the first place to turn back at the brink.
He heard the trickle of a river and knew that the kalona could be anywhere now. His silver eyes opened as wide as they could in attempt to take in information from the darkness. He kept himself quiet but she could have heard him already. Where was she? That was the question that ran through his mind under that dark sky.

Domnu had heard the crunch of the bone echo through out her forest home. She knew someone was approching, and she was irritated that her new mesures where un heeded. Her tail lashed angrily from side to side as she watched and waited for what was to come.
Her ruby body was hidden in the shadows of an outcropping near the waterfal, the mist and shadows that swirled around her made her hard to see, which was difficult for her crismon body. She always had an issue with shining in the light, even in the silver light of the moon she was often easily seen.
She saw him then and rage filled her, the half welp was back again. Her back stung in memory of their last meeting. He had a death wish, and perhaps she would fullfill it this evening. She glared as she watched him approch, waiting for him to come closer before she reveled herself.

When his movements didn't bring a screeching kalona down upon him, Hayagriva grew a little bolder. He stepped out from the cover of the trees and into the more open area edging the lake. The end of his tail was twitching involuntarily and he tried to will it to keep still. The last thing he wanted to be was jumpy... unlikely as it was that he'd calm himself down. No, it was impossible to calm down when garbed in those familiar shadows and surrounded by the stench of death.
He looked around at his surroundings. She had to be near. Even with all the rot around him he could smell her scent. He continued to survey the area but all he could see was the water glittering brightly under the stars and moon. The water glittering and maybe a hint of something else....
He squinted. Was that a touch of red?

(My appologies for the massive delay )
She watched him as he continued to advance on her homelands, foolish arrogogent b*****d welp! Rage fuled the fire of her soul and her blood boiled. She hissed outwardly, her body tenced with her rage. Apparently he hadnt learned his lesson last time.
The Kalona female dove from her perch in the rocky shadows towards the male on the ground. "LEAVE" she screamed at him as she screached from the skies. This was her land and she wanted his foulness removed from it. Ruby glittered in the moonlight as she decended from the sky.

And there the screeching kalona was. Haya's heart had already been pounding as he approached but it lurched into more desperate sprints when he heard the voice. Suddenly he realized what a bad idea this had been. Bothering a kalona that had already mauled him once? Definitely a bad idea. He wasn't going to wait for her to come crashing down to slash open new scars into his neck. Haya's back legs kicked off the ground and he went dashing back to cover, not turning back around until he had a thick tangle of branches between himself and her.
She at least couldn't swoop down on him here. His gray eyes strained to see in the darkness. "Listen!" he shouted, aware that the noise would probably do nothing but bring her straight to his hiding place. "I don't want to fight you! I want to talk..." He took a deep breath. "I want to apologize!" He hoped that would be able to catch her attention and maybe delay her from charging him again. If not... well, there was plenty of forest to dodge through.
