Welcome to Neverland

Hello! My name is Elesariin, and this is my first attempt at creating a roleplay, so please be patient with me. Suggestions and constructive criticism are always more than welcome; I want to make this the best RP it can be, both for me and for the players.

This is going to be the OCC thread, so that the in-game thread doesn’t get cluttered up with chatter, but all the rules and new information will be posted here as well, so make sure to check in often!

Rules

1. As clichéd as it is to say it, I am God. I am perfectly willing to negotiate, as long as you approach me politely and calmly. I hope that it won’t ever come to this, but I will ask you to leave the RP permanently if I must.

2. Follow Gaia TOS. Period.

3. I'm just going to say it; this is an extremely literate RP. Posting should be amazing. I am a grammar Nazi, and am not going to apologize for it. If your writing isn’t up to par, I may ask you to leave. Also, I expect about 15 lines/ three paragraphs per post. Obviously, this isn’t a hard and fast rule; I’m not going to scream at you for posting two paragraphs if they are long, descriptive, and generally well written. Use your judgment.

4. Romance, Drama, and Fighting are all allowed, but I think that goes without saying. It should also go without saying that all these things should be kept at or below the PG13 limit. Cybering will get you booted out, without possibility of any negotiation. If you really feel that something needs to happen, use the ‘fade to black’, and come back in when it’s over.

5. Post profiles in the OOC where everyone can see them; I got this idea from another RP, and it seems to make a lot on sense. That way, everyone can have some input and express their opinions, and I don’t have my inbox clogged up with a bunch of forms.

6. I want to see amazing profiles. It should be obvious that you put time and effort into developing your character into a well-rounded, realistic individual. That means no Mary-Sues, no Gary-Stus, and no characters that will make other people want to bang their heads against the keyboard.

7. As far as adding to or changing already well-known characters, I’m pretty flexible. I ask only that you stay true to the spirit of the original characters; that means no Smee being some sort of Casanova. I know, I know, you were set on it. Think of something else.

8. Please post at least three times per week; no one likes waiting around for someone who never posts. If you want to leave the roleplay or go on hiatus, please let me know. On the opposite side of the spectrum, don’t get carried away with the posting just because somebody else is online. This wouldn’t be so bad if people only did it when the two characters posting were by themselves, but they’re often around other people who should be allowed to react to what’s happening.

9. Please type in either 9 or 10 font, and please don’t use blinding colors that no one can read.

10. No Godmoding, and no killing other people's characters without their permission.

11. This RP will have a definite end. With that in mind, please don't commit to it and then cut out, especially if you've become an integral part of the storyline. If you have a problem, discuss it here and we'll try to fix it.

12. The rules may change, so keep checking back!

A Bird’s Eye View

Neverland has always been a wild place, a free place. Fairies and mermaids and god knows what else are real, boys never want to grow up (and yet insist on getting into sword fights), and Pirates roam the open seas. As unpredictable and dangerous as Neverland can be, there has always been a certain order. The Pirates fight the Lost Boys, Hook fights Peter, and Tinkerbell throws disastrous temper tantrums. The Indians dart in and out, and the mermaids attempt to distract everyone from whatever it is they happen to be doing. More importantly, good always triumphs. There is always a certain safety in the goings-on; Peter knows he’ll pull out a clever victory, and Hook knows (at least on a certain level) that he’ll lose, but that he’ll always live to plot again.

Lately, though, some odd things have been happening, meaning odd even by Neverland standards. People from all sides are going missing, which wouldn’t be particularly strange except that they aren’t missed. They’ve been quietly replaced by people who look like Lost Boys, or Pirates, or whatever, but are not, people who have appeared in Neverland with out explanation or any inside help, a thing that is supposed to be impossible. These people have started to pit all the sides against one another, slowly turning the familiar antics into something far darker. The question is, will anyone realize that something’s is wrong before Neverland tears itself apart from the inside out, and, if they do, will they be able to do anything about it?

The Sides

Just for clarification, this is how the slot system works. The bare minimum of Pirate Characters that the RP needs to start is two, not including Hook. Obviously, there are not going to be just three pirates on the ship, so the rest of the crew will be NPCs that can only be controlled by Pirates. If more people want to come in, they can either get randomly dropped in (that happens every once and a while), or they can take over an NPC and make it a full fledged character. The slight exceptions to this rule are the Fairies, who can’t get new members pulled in from the outside, and for the Lost Boys, who have to have new members recruited and brought to Neverland by Peter. If you want this for your character, just let me know on this thread.

The Lost Boys

Leader: Peter Pan
This often hopelessly disorganized group of orphan boys has been a part of Neverland for as long as anyone can remember. They, more than any other group, see everything as a game. If it’s not a fun game, it’s not worth doing; if it is fun, the last one in is a rotten adult. In spite of their cavalier attitude and easily distracted troupes, they nearly always win, mostly because they’re lead by Peter.

The Lost Boys are, excepting innocent misunderstandings and witch hunts, usually allied on some level with every other group, with the obvious exception of the Pirates.

Needs: 2 players

Peter Pan

Player: Elesariin

Born God knows when, but is still about 13.

Personality/Likes&Dislikes: Peter maintains that he doesn’t approve of taking anything seriously, but for all that, he runs a surprisingly tight ship. When he’s around. Which isn’t often. The real problem is his short attention span. He’ll get tired of being leader of the Lost Boys, so he’ll just disappear into the World and hang outside windows for a day or two, watching cable TV; then he’ll come back and wonder why nothing has gotten done.

Peter is usually unaffectedly friendly and charismatic, seeming almost completely unconscious of his ability to pull good impressions out of thin air. That said, he can air on the side of obnoxiously cocky, and the more dangerous a situation is, the cockier he tends to get. He loves making his enemies, especially Hook, not only lose, but make themselves look utterly ridiculous in the process. It’s when he thinks he’s been made to look ridiculous that the problems start popping up. Peter’s main fault is pride, and if his pride is hurt, he becomes sullen and standoffish, sometimes for days. He also becomes oddly quiet if anyone mentions the name ‘Wendy’, although none of the Lost Boys can remember exactly why this is, or even put their fingers on what a Wendy is in the first place.

History: Peter Pan has been a part of Neverland for as long as anyone can really remember, including him. Of course, he makes up stories for the other boys’ benefit, wild tales about running away as an infant as soon as he overheard that he was expected to grow up. It’s very hard to keep a hold of your memories in Neverland, and although Peter has a much easier time than most, even some things he should be able to remember are hazy. In his quiet moments, which are, to say the least, few and far between, he sometimes wonders how he really got there. Is he a native, like the fairies and the mermaids? He’s even asked Tink, out of earshot from the other boys, of course; she wouldn’t say anything.

Skills include: Is superb at fencing and knife fighting, gymnastics, and, of course, flying, floating, gliding, and generally defying gravity with absurd ease. He doesn’t even seem to need pixie dust to do it.

Description: Peter is fairly tall for a boy his age, about 5”5, with a wiry, athletic body that hasn’t yet grown into the awkwardness of puberty. He has the tan skin of someone who spends almost all his time in the sun, wears clothes made of assorted leaves and vines, and is usually smudged with some amount of dirt. His face is caught between little boy prettiness and the handsomeness of a teenager, with a slightly crooked but overwhelmingly happy smile, a sea of unruly golden blonde hair, and unnaturally green eyes, eyes that have no trace of blue or yellow or brown in them whatsoever.

The Pirates

Leader: Captain James Hook
The crew of the Jolly Rodger is made up of solidly amoral pirates from all over, and all over here means all over in every sense. Like most of the things that end up in Neverland, they weren’t all part of one crew before they were snatched up; in fact, many of them come from completely different time periods. There are even a few modern Pirates among them. Their Captain, Hook, has a personal vendetta against Peter Pan for cutting off his left hand and feeding it to an abnormally large and intelligent crocodile, and he always seems to mess things up trying to kill the boy.

The Pirates are almost never allied with anyone else.

Needs: 1 Player + Hook. Smee doesn’t have to be a PC, but he does need to be there.

The Indians

Leader: The Chief (Whoever plays him can name him)
Like the Pirates, the Indians were originally from all sorts of different tribes all over the Americas; unlike the Pirates, this was a significant problem as far as peace went. Many of the people stuck together on this island were from enemy tribes, after all, and even some of those who weren’t lived half a continent away! Relations were… strained… for a time, until everyone realized that they had more in common then they thought, and, more importantly, that they needed to band together if they were to survive the pirate raids and keep those annoying boys away long enough for people to get work done.

The Indians are usually allied with the Lost Boys, although they sometimes get annoyed with their rowdy island-mates and tie them to trees for a while. They were allied with the Mermaids on and off, but that fell through for good when the Mermaids decided they would try to drown Tigerlilly so that she would stop talking to Peter.

The Fairies

Little is known for sure about fairies; no one knows exactly how many there are or if they have any sort of societal structure whatsoever. They tend to be shy overall, and avoid being seen whenever possible. Most unexplained misfortunes on the island are attributed to their pranks. There is one obvious exception to this rule, but she is a very loud exception.

The Others

If you would like to contact me about being an ‘Other’, please do so over PMs, and I will give you the details of their background; I would like to keep their identities within the RP a secret for as long as possible. You will be posting a profile, but it will be for the character your Other is impersonating. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Yay! You're finally open! I really want to be Tinkerbell, but I don't have enough time to type up the profile. I just got finished with typing it up, making it uber awesome, but when I went to click submit, I had an invalid coding or something, and now I have to type it up all over again! D: But, I'll definately get it to you tomorrow!

Yuck. That's happened to me, too. Actually more than once. Actually more like three times. sweatdrop Technology hates me. Anyway, take your time. I'm just disproportionately excited that people are interested at all.
